I doubt you'd be saying it sounds bad if Platinum Dunes was remaking it.

How could they not have the tree outside? thats one of the creepiest visuals from the original...the clown I get, Scary Movie 2 kind of ruined that scene and most people seeing this remake would think that it was a scary movie 2 ripoff.

Apart from some of the new names and the fact that there aren't any scenes like the ones with the tree and clown this doesn't sound too bad. I still hate that it's happening because the original is one of my absolute favorites, but I am interested to see how things go as this project progresses. Plus Vadim Perelman did a fantastic job on House of Sand and Fog and so I'm happy he was chosen.

Then you turn and make the first post saying you think it sounds horrid? With that said I hope this doesnt ever get made, anything they give us will be watered down and filled with CG effects.

How indicative of modern film: the odd character played by Zelda Rubinstein is replaced by a younger, more attractive character. Pathetic.

they should reboot the toxic avenger instead! that series never got the attention it deserved and the original was so awfully awesome it would be hard to ruin it :)

this doesn't sound good to me. The original poltergeist is a classic. Taking out cetain parts from the original just makes the remake look bad. I've seen there last two movies. The knowing and the boogeyman and there both pritty bad. Theres only been a few remakes that were good most weren't. I'll keep watching them because i'm a horror buff. Sooner or later one will kickass..

Sorry guys but I don't think today's audience will think a tree coming to life is "scary" at least I don't. That scene in the original didn't scare me and the scene with the apple trees in the wizard of oz didn't scare me, heh.

boogeyman was a well WRITTEN good story just directed VERY VERY BADLY. So I hope this guy who's directing can direct it right. my opinions out on this until I see a trailer or if the youngest daughter is over 8

I hate the days we're living...

I can't help but to feel as if there asking for trouble w/ this project. Not only is this a cult classic, but the first cast and crew had disasterous experiences filming this movie for starters, but aside from that, who could ever replace Heather O'Rourke's "Caroline"? This one should just be left alone. There's plenty of other hit films from the 80's hollywood can butcher for a quick buck!
