Sunday at midnight MySpace revealed the first trailer for New Line Cinema's A Nightmare on Elm Street, which featured your first look at the Platinum Dunes produced remake arriving in theaters April 30. Since then, the trailer has received 1.6 million views on MySpace, making it one of the top videos ever on the social networking site. In fact, the trailer was so popular here on Bloody Disgusting it slowed the site to a screeching halt (you may have noticed the slow performance all day yesterday) and forced us to make some changes to our comment section. You can check out the trailer again below or click here to join the conversation. What did YOU think of the footage? The films' premise centers on Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), a serial child molester murdered by angry parents, who returns with a burnt face and a razor glove to terrorize teens in their dreams.

Check out nearly 40 hi-res screen grabs.

Still looks dull and uninspired to me.

this looks ok. i was never a big NIGHTMARE/Freddy fan but this doesn't look bad. i LOVE Katie Cassidy so i'm thrilled she (at least from the looks of this trailer) is getting good screen time. she's an excellent actress (we miss her as Ruby on SUPERNATURAL!). and Jackie's FREDDY will probably make me like this franchise. i was never really a fan of Robert's FREDDY.

His speech is not clear like Robert Englund's which would make alot of sense if your face had been burnt to a crisp, especially the lips.

As a big nightmare fan, the trailer was pretty but thats it. The script was scary, I hope the actual movie is. It just seems too forced, but at least there's no comedy.

Does it bug anyone that it always says "a serial child molester"? So he doesn't kill them afterwards or what? And, in the original, they never said ANYTHING about him being a child molester. Hell, any of the little mentions of it weren't until the sequels. He better kill them afterwards...

Congrats, 13 post and none of you said "epic" or "fail".

SPOILERS***** In the original script Wes wrote him as a child molester but in the end he removed it. In this one he's a molester but not a child killer. It's implied that he may be wrongfully accused by a bunch of kids, but the twist at the end was he did do it and was mad they told.

I will give the film makers props for making him a child molester this time around. It takes some balls to do that. Though I wonder how people will feel cheering for a child molester to kill the people he molested. lol

No wonder, I thought it as my internet connection slowing down. It does not bug me at all that he's a serial child molester, looks & sounds different. The more different the better he will be in my eyes. I'm so looking forward to this.

Man, I can't wait to see all the forced and unnecessary references to current technology that all the "cool" teenagers use that will no doubt make the movie seem dated in a couple years. However, we should be thankful that a guy who directed a couple MTV music videos is behind this; he obviously knows how to do horror due to his experience.

Jim Henson would be proud....an evil muppet killing innocent kids!!! Hopefully that twilight douche gets it good!!! Looks good, but still don't know. Gonna have to wait and see the other trailers between now and opening night.

Wow... this movie looks super retarded... no one can replace robert... don't even care to see it honestly...

Well then I guess 1.6 million people really enjoy inferior, uninspired, watered down, and glossed over Platinum Dunes remakes. It's all purely nostalgic. Freddy fans just want to see Freddy on the silver screen again in any manner, no matter how much of a disservice the film does to the character. Platinum Dunes knows this, and they're more than happy to oblige. For those of us that were actually around when the originals first came out, Platinum Dunes is simply trying to sell our childhoods back to us. And for all those teenagers out there that most likely have only heard of the originals but never seen them, and wouldn't know their own ass from a whole in the ground, Platinum Dunes is selling them on the chance to experiance 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' in the the theaters for the first time. And they're sure to make it as hip, and as modern as possible to ensure that it lookes dated as fuck twenty years from now. Platinum Dunes' movies are about as timeless as milk. I'm sure this film will be their most profitable abortion yet, because after all, they do have the most iconic horror character of all time (besides Micheal Myers) staring in their film. Yup, just like with their 'Friday the 13th' remake, you'll all flock to the theatres opening weekend like lambs to the slaughter, and also like 'Friday the 13th' no one will show up the second weekend after hearing how bad it was.

...please this freddy looks way better than robert's freddy ever did. At least they made the burns look more realistic to what an actual burn victim looks like. This still doesnt look very good, but i'll judge when I actually see it.

I might be in the minority, but I thought it looked too clean and polished..not grit. It didn't look creepy at all.
