Update: Full synopsis below! For those of you who just cannot wait for New Line Cinema to release brand new stills from their forthcoming A Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, we've screen grabbed nearly 40 hi-res action shots from the first trailer that debuted earlier tonight. You can dig on 'em all below, feel free to grab 'em and use them for your desktop image, phone backgrounds... whatever you want! Directed by Samuel Bayer, Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) returns to theaters April 30, 2010.

FULL SYNOPSIS BELOW

"Freddy Krueger returns in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic.

A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another…but when they sleep, there is no escape.

Donning Freddy’s trademark fedora, red-and-green striped sweater, and four-bladed glove is Academy Award® nominee Jackie Earle Haley (“Little Children,” “Watchmen”).

The film is being directed by award-winning music video and commercial director Samuel Bayer (Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”), marking his feature film debut.

The teens whose dreams are terrorized by Freddy Krueger are played by an ensemble of young actors, including Kyle Gallner (“The Haunting in Connecticut”), Katie Cassidy (“Taken,” TV’s “Supernatural”), Rooney Mara (“Urban Legend: Bloody Mary”), Thomas Dekker (“Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”), and Kellan Lutz (“Twilight,” upcoming “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”). The supporting cast also includes veteran character actor Clancy Brown (“The Shawshank Redemption,” “Highlander”) and Connie Britton (“Friday Night Lights”).

“A Nightmare on Elm Street” is based on characters created by Wes Craven in his 1984 sleeper horror hit. That film went on to become one of the horror genre’s longest-running, most successful and innovative film series, spawning seven sequels. Now, 25 years later, comes a contemporary incarnation of the Freddy Krueger origin story.

Samuel Bayer is directing “A Nightmare on Elm Street” from a screenplay by Wesley Strick (“Cape Fear,” “Wolf”) and Eric Heisserer. The film is produced by Platinum Dunes’ Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, whose company has enjoyed success with a number of re-imagined horror franchises, including “Friday the 13th,” “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” and “The Amityville Horror.” The executive producers are Bob Shaye, Michael Lynne, and Mike Drake (“The Number 23,” “The Whole Nine Yards”). The co-producer is John Rickard.

The behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Jeff Cutter (“Gridiron Gang,” the upcoming “Orphan”), production designer Patrick Lumb (“Valkyrie,” “The Omen”), editor Glen Scantlebury (“Transformers,” “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”), costume designer Mari-An Ceo (“Friday the 13th,” “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning”), visual effects supervisor Sean Faden (“The Amityville Horror”), special makeup effects artist Andrew Clement (“Star Trek,” “Cloverfield”), and special effects coordinator John Milinac (“Friday the 13th,” “The Amityville Horror”).

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with New Line Cinema, “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” to be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. The film is slated for release in April 2010.

If you take the image of Freddy from the last scene in the trailer into photoshop and just jack up the levels a bit, far more detail of his is revealed on that side of the face and neck and it looks really good. And for those out there wondering, he does have a nose.

How about you shitheads just wait till you see the movie.

I couldn't agree more with you Donnie. In my opinion, Haley will save the franchise with his Freddy. You guys will complain about some of the same scenes being re-enacted and, at the same time, complain about how they've changed Freddy. You're fucking contradicting yourselves left and right.

Some people just cant be satisfied. People piss and moan that they want him to look different and they change his look and people still piss and moan.

Yep. I can never understand where it all comes from in the first place. No matter how bad/good a remake is, the original movie will always be there, ready to be watched.

I agree happy time harry. This trailer wasn't good or bad either. I'm not bothered or stoked by the new Freddy. I have but 2 things to say: 1) isn't it a bit early for a remake on a flick that pretty much holds up, and 2) regardless I'll check it out.

Saying "epic fail" means you are a 12 year old boy who jacks off to G4 all the time. Or at least you have the mentality of one.

this looks pretty cool. but i can<t get over the fact that it,s produced by michael Bay -_- and i was really exited about this.

I was excited for this remake & am not too sure how I feel about it. I know they went into this movie not wanting to recreate Robert Englunds Freddy & they wanted to make him a sick bastard like he was intended to be. & I was expecting him to look more like a burn victim with the melted flesh & the whole nine... But he kinda looks like Michael Meyers in the still shot... However I did like the voice... it's just going to be hard for most of us to watch Freddys entire character be changed from what we know. I do think Jackie will do a great job.

MEH to his face. Hopefully thats just a bad shot. Not scary in the slightest. They should have taken cues from parts 2 and 3. His makeup was scariest then.
