Dates Subject to Change
Middle of Nowhere (A Perfect Getaway) (March 13; MGM)
Olyphant will play a newlywed whose Hawaiian honeymoon becomes a nightmare when he and his bride are stalked by two killers.
Piranha 3-D (July 24; date change likely)
They’re back! Every year the population of sleepy Lake Havasu explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for a single, wild weekend - the 4th of July, a riot of sun, drunken fun and sex-crazed mayhem. But this year, there's something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers. Havasu sits in the crater formed by a prehistoric volcanic eruption, and when earth tremors tear open a crack in the lake floor, all hell breaks through. Piranhas - a million ravenous, razor-toothed monsters, unchanged since the dawn of time. Unstoppable killing machines acting blindly under one primeval impulse: to hunt down anything that moves and strip it to the raw, bleeding bone. In seconds.
H2: Halloween 2 (October)
The new film picks up right as the first remake ended, following the aftermath of Michael Myers' murderous rampage through the eyes of the sister he hunted.
The Road (No Date Available)
The story centers on a man who embarks on a nightmarish road trip after a nuclear explosion in an attempt to transport his son to safety while fending off cannibals.
Mr. Disgusting:
I agree, Dimension has always been a lower budget company and their biggest problem is films that they make that are never released, and like you said, Piranha will likely never be released...
I want to see what Warner Bros. and Paramount have to offer, mainly cause I want to see more stuff for the new Friday The 13th! When can we expect more stills and news to come in for it?
Dimension will likely make H2 before Piranha, just because it's guaranteed to be a box office hit, because of the first one. I think H2 will be a bigger hit then the first one too.
H2 and Piranha are really exciting :) If My Bloody Valentine and/or Final Destination: Death Trip 3D are successful, then I'm sure Piranha will do just fine. If not... I don't know what to expect.
Man, the Road sounds like a pretty good story. That little bit of info hooked me. The rest of it...piranha Id watch but wouldnt go out of my way to see.
gutmuncher, be sure to pick up the novel by Cormac McCarthy ("The Road") if you can-- it's brilliant. "The Road" should be fantastic (or at least I'm hoping so). Along with "Blood Meridian", "The Road" is one of my favorite works from Mr. McCarthy. Also, John Hillcoat is directing, and if his adaptation of "The Proposition" is any sign, this will rock as well. I'm not sure about the others, however.
If dimension is out of money that is why they are remakeing so many movies. The remakes get critic attention and people go see them to compare them to the original. Well, thier remaking The Crow and that has already got major backlash.
H2 will get made. I think Dimension sees it as their best chance to unseat the SAW franchise at the box-office in October. I'm not sure about PIRANHA at this point, though. And am I the only one who thinks that PIRANHA image looks ridiculous in the extreme?
Dimension Films one of the crappiest studio!!. and btw The Crow is owned by Disney not Dimension they gave up the rights when they split up from Disney.
H2 and The Road sound good and in two years time H3 and The Road 2 will sound good.I hope they keep making sequels for many years to come. Dimension are my number one film company because if you enjoy sequels they keep making them.Keep up the good work Dimension I love you.
I don't see any of a reason for a 2nd "Pirahna" remake. "Halloween 2" will be interesting and as for "The Road" I'll probably be inclined to exit and see something else.
ALL these movies are MUST SEE movies for me! i'm impressed at Dimension's choices! these are ALL going to be awesome! i'm especially excited for MIDDLE OF NOWHERE (anything with Milla is awesome to me!). it's a cool story and the twist in it is VERY COOL.
I'll be seeing Halloween and Pirhana. If Dimension are running out of money why dont they hurry up and get Scream 4 up and running. I'd love to see that franchise back.
I am definitely looking forward to "the Road" when i saw the oprah sticker on the cover I was suspicious, but this book was utterly absorbing from start to finish...and i am thrilled that viggo mortenson is the dad...I've read of his absolute dedication to his characters, and I'm sure he'll do this one justice
Looking forward to Piranah simply for the 3-D. I really wish they would've stuck to the "genetically engineered" story though...prehistoric, cannibalistic, crack dwelling fish just seems like a bit much...
i think piranha will be kickass movie if dimension actually releases it. There other movie halloween. It be interesting where zombie takes the story. Rumor has it that sources close to production is saying that zombie might not keep the myers mask at all. Or myers might wear a new mask this time around.
