UPDATE: Juan Antonio Bayona Officially Directing ‘Eclipse’

Summit Entertainment has now officially tapped Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona (Guillermo del Toro produced The Orphanage) to direct The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse, the third adaptation in the Twilight vampire series created by writer Stephenie Meyer. Summit, which had no comment Wednesday, is expected to make the official announcement soon. The minimajor recently gave “Eclipse” a release date of June 30, 2010.
Bayona’s a protege of Guillermo Del Toro. He directed the Spanish-language horror-thriller “The Orphanage,” which was exec produced by Del Toro, and is attached to helm the Universal thriller “Hater,” with Del Toro and Mark Johnson producing.
Summit’s opted for a different director on each “Twilight” pic. Chris Weitz replaced “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke on “New Moon.” Production’s due to start shortly on “New Moon” with the key thesps — Robert Pattinson as Edward, Kristen Stewart as Bella and Taylor Lautner as Jacob — reprising their roles.
“New Moon” is set to open Nov. 20. Melissa Rosenberg, who penned the “Twilight” and “New Moon” scripts, is working on “Eclipse,” in which Bella is forced to choose between Edward and Jacob. The four books in Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” series have sold more than 17 million copies worldwide.

Keanu Reeves Describes Untitled Time Loop Thriller from Director Tim Miller as ‘Groundhog Day’ With Sharks
At one point known as Shiver, Tim Miller‘s (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) next movie doesn’t yet have a title, but star Keanu Reeves offers a very intriguing tease this week.
Chatting with Collider, Reeves explains what drew him to the mysterious upcoming project from director Tim Miller. He tells the outlet, “Sharks. Time machine. Groundhog Day.”
That lines up with early plot details that surfaced earlier this year, with the film said to center on a “smuggler in the middle of a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea.”
That synopsis continued, “Surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries, and bloodthirsty sharks, the man finds himself in a time loop and scrambling to break the cycle.”
Callie Cooke (“The Stranger”), Stefan Kapičić (Deadpool), Steven Waddington (Sleepy Hollow), Nicholas Duvernay (“The White Lotus”), Abraham Popoola (Cruella), Anastasia Safonov, and Bobby Holland Hanton (Thor: Love and Thunder) also star.
Ian Shorr (Splinter, Infinite) penned the screenplay for the sci-fi thriller, which had previously been described as having shades of Edge of Tomorrow and The Shallows.
