While we reported that Nicolas Cage was officially cast to return as Johnny Blaze in Columbia Pictures' Ghost Rider 2, it appears the star isn't ready to lace up those flaming leather boots just yet. In a new interview with the actor, he reveals that the sequel to the smash-hit Marvel comic adaptation still needs some tweaking. Somebody needs to light a fire under their arses!
Nicolas Cage, who’s slated to reprise his 2007 “Ghost Rider” role as Johnny Blaze, told MTV News that a writer is currently being sought for the follow-up, something we revealed back in January.
The sequel, which could see the demonic biker battling evil in Europe alongside the Catholic Church is still in its infancy, meaning a director is also needed before flaming tires hit the pavement again. Though Mark Steven Johnson, co-writer and director of “Daredevil” and the first “Ghost Rider” film, seems like a reasonable candidate for either role with the sequel, Cage said nothing’s been decided so far.
“Everyone is very busy. I know Mark has his own thing going on,” Cage told MTV, “It’s up to the studio. It’s really in their hands.”
When asked which elements the sequel should include, Cage spoke tentatively given the early stage of “Ghost Rider 2″ development. He did, however, point out the importance of some signature Ghost Rider themes.
“It has to have that action horror element and go deeper into that if it were to happen and [it should] keep us asking questions. Keep it interesting on a philosophical level,” said Cage.
GGoblin, the debate about the existense of God was settled when the first Ghostrider was made. Now with a Ghostrider sequel it only confirms that Satan exists, hes taken human form, and is now working at Columbia Pictures
mav07: if there's a Satan, there is a God, but I think He's doing better things than watching over that Ghost Rider crap.
Do they really think they scored with the audience on the first? Sure they got some money, but that doesnt mean that anybody liked it (I sure as hell didnt).
Other than Cage, the first movie was great. its his movie now unfortunately. If you dont want more...dont see part 2. If enough people dont go see it the blasphemy will end.
I hope any sequel will be as dark as some of the comics. I just didn't feel that the last film showed the Ghost Rider as this tragic suffering figure, full of hate and vengeance. I absolutely love the comics and the character, so I hope they try to make this one better than the last.
Ghost Rider Was Crap. It was not true tothe comic at all... To Add to that fact, Nick Cage is old, and Dryed out. Everything about him is boring, he doesn't show one bit of emotion. He is boring and needs to retire. Every film he is in... He is the same character with a different name, he never changes. Please, PLEASE someone get a brain and find another actor!! FUCK the A-List actor/Actress shit, find some new faces and make a good film!
"I just didn't feel that the last film showed the Ghost Rider as this tragic suffering figure, full of hate and vengeance. I absolutely love the comics and the character" - This proves my point, NICK CAGE SUCKS! no emotion! -------------- Ghost rider was a bad ass in the comic, the film was watered down CRAP
I love the Ghost Rider character but the movie was god awful! I find it impossible that someone could make the Ghost Rider boring...but dagnammit they did it!
