Rob Zombie Officially Responds to Daeg's Exit

This morning Rob Zombie officially responded to our news that Daeg Faerch had been recast as young Michael Myers in H2. "I know some of you are confused as to why Daeg is not in the film. Recasting young Michael was not something I wanted to do, but the scenes just didn't work anymore. Daeg is no longer a little boy, he is a teenager with a deep voice. Once you see the film you will understand why I made this choice. It was not an easy choice and was not made lightly. Daeg kicked ass in Halloween, but things change. I think Daeg is very, very talented and I wish him all the best." Still no word on a replacement.

I agree but you can't recast a character like Michael Myers...either write him outta the script or figure something out...there is no kid out there that looks anything like Daeg...it won't work...

I think most people are wondering why do we even need little Michael again. I mean is little Michael back simply because Rob wants to feature Sherri in another one of his films? I hope not, I hope that the flashbacks are not in just because he wants Sherri in the film. I don't mind flashbacks being in the film if only we get like two very quick ones. But do we really need to know MORE about Michael's childhood? Why can't we just focus on what he is now and his current rampage in Haddonfield?

But since Rob knows that not to many people are thrilled about Daeg being recast, I have a feeling that the flashbacks with little Michael may not even make it into the final film, which is good. I want to see more about Laurie.

Makes no scence just put one of his many masks on that he wore in 1st remake!

I can only suspect that since Rob was beat up a little after H1, he has decided to add even more back story. His way of touching H1 up a bit. If that's the case, you can't blame him for not trying to bang a square peg into a round hole. I hope it's not because he wants to get his wife in the movie or flashbacks which in essence wind up being more back story. But why more back story? Just let Halloween stand on it's own. It wasn't a bad movie. It was better than the kung-fu, Thorn sequels.

i agree w/ TwistedFate_L4. i AM looking forward to the movie but we already learner/re-learned about Michael in H1. i'm one of those who think he's using the flashbacks so he can put Sheri in the movie. i want the movie to focus on Laurie/Annie/Brea Grant's character. we need to care about the protagonists and giving them 10 minutes of screen time to do so IS NOT enough time. i don't (and hope it's not the case) want an hour&15 minute movie about Michael and then stick Laurie in as an afterthought.

I thought that little overacting dweeb couldn't act anyways......the little kid from Babysitter Wanted would've been much better.

I would have thought RZ made his intentions fairly clear when he described first film as "Michael's movie", with this follow-up described as "Laurie's movie".

Daeg kinda sucked...he was a little wuss and though the prequel aspects were interesting, he was not right for the part. The remake reminded me of a white trash slasher film. I love the movie but common, Daeg sucked.

they should still use him a little bit because look at how big adult micheal myers is, there had to be a point where he started growing.

why recast.....why not have the memories go back to him at the age he is now....there really isnt even a point for the memories.....focus on michael and laurie...thats why a lot of people hated the first because there was too much young michael, i personally loved it but i believe 2 should just be present day, and making flashbakcs from the first movie....but what in sam hell do I know.....HOW SWEET, DARK MEAT!

Why do we need flashback scenes anyway? We already know what we need to know about Michael. Just continue with the current story and don't dwell on the past like the Saw films do; 80% of flashbacks and only 20% of actually advancing the present storyline. We don't need that.

why a young Michael is needed is a question within it self, anything to get his wife in the movie.

I think we've beaten this fucking lameass "Has to get his wife into the movie!" horseshit into the goddamn dirt by this point. We have NO IDEA what the story of the new film is, or why flashbacks are included, so to suggest that these scenes are only put in to appease Sheri is ludicrous. For all you know, the falshbacks could be absolutely vital to the narrative of the film. I wish Daeg the best in his future endeavors, but nobody cried like a baby when the actor who played young Michael in the original HALLOWEEN (whose real name I'm certain is a complete mystery to most of you) wasn't brought back for the pivotal flashback scenes in Carpenter's HALLOWEEN 2. Really, if you feel you need to hate on Sheri (be it because you genuinely dislike her, or you just hate Rob for having a hot wife), at least try to do it in some sort of logical context. Don't blame her (or her husband's devotion to her) for "unnecessary" flashbacks which, for all you know, may be vital to H2's plot.

And you think because we don't know we cant take an educated guess? Tell me with all your wisdom sir, what exactly does Michaels mom add to the story? She was worthless the first time around, I certainly dont think anyone cares to see her again this time around. Christ, did you really just suggest that we hate her because she is hot? What is this, highschool? Come on man. If were hating on her being in the movie, maybe it's something smaller on the grand level of all things considered. For one, believe it or not, some of us hated the Halloween remake because the movie sucked, not because were "haters" The fact of the matter is this, the flashbacks aren't vital to the movie, because you know the movie can be told without flashbacks, Rob Zombie him self said that Halloween was a one shot deal, never intended to make a sequel, never had any interest in a sequel, not to mention he thought remakes were the dirt of the world. So, with that in mind, we can gather that the original Halloween as told by Rob Zombie is the story Zombie wanted to tell, thus everything he wanted to show the audience he did. Now, he turns his back on everything he said, and goes and writes a sequel in like four months time. Now all of a sudden he wants to show us story we didn't see the first time around that for some reason he felt he needed to for the story to work? I dont get it, it's like him telling us that he forgot to put it in the original movie. So no, it's obvious that he worked the story around getting his wife in the movie, that's not even a problem to me, he can do whatever he wants. THis movie has way more problems going for it then casting his wife to play a dead character in flashbacks.

I don't get it...I FUCKING LOVE SHERRI MOON ZOMBIE! It's true, she was a bit static at the beginning of the Halloween but got better and better as it went on...I really loved her and her character in it...She's beautiful and has this warmth she brought to the movie...I can't wait to see her in this too!

AmandasEvolution
6:16pm, March 6, 2009

FYI, that was in response to everyone beating down on her because they think the flashbacks are just so she can be in the movie...

Blah blah blah. Who cares. No one is complaining that there isnt a reason for the flash back shit anyway except a way to put his (lets face it assholes) long in the tooth wife back in it.

i'll admit that Sheri's acting in H1 was REALLY good. no question about it, but i agree w/ much/most of what jasonlives1986 says. what is SO important in these flashbacks that is needed in this movie that couldn't have been included or was essential for H1? i hate (usually) flashbacks ESPECIALLY when it's there JUST to get one's wife (for example) in the movie.
