We have learned that Daeg Faerch has been recast as young Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's H2, which is currently filming around Georgia. Word on the street is that Faerch was too "grown up" for the film (now standing taller than Sheri Moon) and won't be making it into the finished project. No word on his replacement, but we'll let you know as soon as we find out. Tyler Mane is still playing adult Michael Myers in the sequel to Zombie's Halloween remake hitting theaters August 28 from Dimension Films. We'll miss you Daeg.
Not cool! I am upset by this! So, now we are going to have a completely different kid playing young Michael! No other news on this site has ever made me as angry as this did just now!
This could've all be remedied had Zombie NOT taken the "trip down memory lane", left the past in the past and focused soley on the present. But NO, he just has to have his wife in the picture. @_@
So what point is he gonna have in this movie than? Gonna have to be by himselfs in the scenes?? I like the first one but for Zombie to recast someone he only has soo many of his friends he can put in a movie...I'm sure there is a trailer park near by can find a dirty kid to do the role...Get er done!
OMG you have to be kidding me...replacing a lead like young Myers?? This is ridiculous...just take him outta the script if he's too tall to return...even THAT would be better...this really sucks Zombie...
Well it could be worse. If you recast someone who had only been in one film it still can work. Daeg was great in H1 but he lacked tragedy.he just couldn't deliver how horrible it was that a young boy would become such a monster, the tragedy of this especially for his family. But I love the idea of more flashbacks with Michael and his mother,it will just add a deeper emotional level of sorrow and tragedy to the present day events. I thought it was so chilling in H1 when Laurie shot Michael and then you saw this image with young michael and baby Laurie with the Halloween Theme in the background. I just loved that. It makes it more than just a slasher flick. So I am actually glad that Rob will do more flashbacks in H2 to advance the emotions like that. And I also really like Sheri Moon. She was so terrific as Baby Firefly in 1000 Corpses and Devils Rejects and it was really cool to see her in such a different role in H1 as Michaels Mother. She was a good person and I felt so bad for her when Michael finally lost it. The scene where she kills herself was truly tragic and sad. I am looking forward for her return. Besides it's no true Zombie movie without her. Bottom Line: I am all for Flashbacks and if they have to replace Daeg because he is too big now than thats fine with me. Maybe the new one is even better.
It's kind of odd that they brought him to set and filmed with him and THEN realized he was too big. With kids you'd think that since 2 years had passed since filming the original they might have wanted to check on that before hand. He's right at the age where boys can get pretty big growth spurts.
lol Skee-Lo. Ah that brings me back. Anyway...I'm sad to hear that he needed to be recast. I too had thought they might just have him play a teenage Michael, but that just might not be part of the sequel's storyline. I wonder how old this new young Michael is supposed to be? I'm hoping it will be at least a few years older or younger than in the first film or else it'll just look weird...and I really hope he at least looks like Daeg. I don't want another repeat of when Julian Moore played Clarice Starling. Her permormance was great but it was ridiculous to have her replace someone who looks so different than her. Might as well have cast a young Indian boy to play Clarice...
Yeah, I don't get how they're fitting Daeg into this, especially when, and I quote, Rob said "
"there’s other weird things planned but there’s no flashbacks in the movie."
Might want to fix the typo in the article. I assume it is supposed to say, "We have learned that Daeg Faerch has *not* been recast..."
Good news, though. That actor was good, but casting him when he does not physically fit the role would be silly. Hopefully, they can find someone just as creepy, or just eliminate young Myers completely. We don't need any more backstory. Just let Michael do his thing.
