'Amityville Horror' Sequel Gets Official Title

In an article about Studio 407's forthcoming comic book efforts, THR writes that Neal Marshall Stevens is responsible for MGM's forthcoming Amityville Tapes. We broke the new back in September that the direct-to-DVD sequel will take on a "multimedia" approach, "[AMITYVILLE] will be in the vein of the Sci-Fi Channel show GHOST HUNTERS, one of my favorites shows on TV. The term "multimedia" was being used to represent the tools that will be used in the haunted house." Watch for more news as it comes in.

Amityville II: The Possession was way creepier than the orginal. Can't imagine this one being any good though

THE AMITYVILLE HORROR has never really been done to its full potential on-screen, but I enjoyed the remake more than most folks here seemed to. Mostly, I enjoyed the whole "angry stepfather" angle, with Ryan Reynolds surprising me by being genuinely scary at times. The "What the fuck is wrong with you people?" line and the wood-cutting scene are the best bits by far. Anyway, I'm glad to see the makers of the sequel going for a little different angle this time around. With so many Amityville films and novels out there, it would have been easy to just do another standard haunted house rehash. Even if this does have some BLAIR WITCH/CLOVERFIELD/REC aspects to it, it could be good.

as of now, this doesn't sound all that great, but i'll wait til i see a trailer before i make up my mind.

It would be kinda cool if they went Cloverfield-style and had the entire movie hand-held from the character's point of view. It would be a great way to create suspense, scares and all the "ghost appearances" could work very well.

"The Amityville Horror" was good, "Amityville II:The Possession" was fantastic while the remaining sequels are embarrasingly bad.[Amityville 3-d and how about the one with the evil lamp for example? Man those sucked hard] I found the remake to be ok but this sequel sounds like a bad idea as i find shows like Ghost Hunters to boring to bother with. Studios are getting pretty desperate for ideas these days.

if anybody took 2 seconds to read what it's about why even bother comparing it to any of the sequels?

Wasn't too impressed with the remake, so I don't exactly have high hopes for a sequel. I'll probably give it a shot because I like most of the other Amityville movies.

Maybe they can get Busta Rhymes to run the multimedia show and then he can kick the houses' ass.

this movie will be very disappointing ifit centers around reality TV

The original was alright. The remake dissapointed me because they said they were going to base it more off the book WHICH NO THEY DIDN'T. It's hard to watch the amityville horror movies anyways because you know that really the house wasn't haunted. Ronald DeFeo was a drug addict who hated his abusive father and that possibly the sister was in on the killings as well before he shot her. And then the Lutz come in and can't afford the house so they make up some ghost story about it being the portal to hell. So it's the fact that the movies are based off of a lie that makes them kinda uninteresting to me. As just a horror movie their alright.

This sounds so lame. It shouldn't even be called a sequel. It's going to be a complete failure and a waste of time.

yes! someone who sees things my way. Cathedral opf Demoni is right. Demented D's avatar is the greatest thing i have seen or read on this site. and this sequel does reek of that crappy halloween movie with busta rhymes, so crappy i dont even remember the title to it.
