Last night we reported that MGM was prepping a direct-to-disc sequel to THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, which would take on a "multimedia" approach. While our tipster was in fact 100% on the nose, he was completely wrong about what was meant by "multimedia"... We learned that MGM has officially signed on a writer (we'll see if we can find out who) with the approach that the film will be in the vein of the Sci-Fi Channel show GHOST HUNTERS, one of my favorites shows on TV. The term "multimedia" was being used to represent the tools that will be used in the haunted house. So long as it's better than HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION and as good as the indie feature PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, count me in.
Halloween Resurrection was TERRIBLE! Are you guys joking? Even though I do love saying "Buste Rhymes killed Michael Myers once and for all." But this sounds very very cool. I love Ghost Hunters, and doing that approach for one of the most infamous "haunted" houses in the world sounds like it could be very cool.
If I was producing this movie, i would absolutly just make it as real as possible like, and hire the guys from ghost hunters to do this, and perhaps make a movie (fake of course) about the real haunting of amityville house ...good idea?...well perhaps a tad better than the amityville dollhouse movie? im sorry but all amityville movies fucking sucked except the original and the remake was desent...that's about it, 2 & 3D were horrible and i never bothered with the rest because they looked terrible, and this is coming from a horror movie fan who can watch just about anythinig
why dont we see tyra banks getting fucking killed in halloween resurrection, to me, that would have been the best part of the film, it was very unsatisfactory just seeing her dead body, perhaps her fucking acting skills sucked so bad, the filmakers cut the death scene cuz of her horrible acting?? ...someone should have replaced the fake knife with a real one if this was the case...

P.S. please dont make a sequel to a good remake when there is already a KICK ASS sequel for the original which beats all of em!
The 10th Amityville movie, great,put all 10 in a boxset in the shape of the Amityville house and I'll buy the lot. I love these movies and can't wait for the Boxset chistmas 2009.

Its odd how the fith film still hasen't be released on DVD in the USA. It must have to do with rights or something. But I find it odd how part 4 deals with a lamp from the house, then 5 is something different, then 6,7 and 8 gets back on track with objects from the house haunting ppl. They need to release all ten films in a box set.
Amityville is great! can't wait to see another take on it. You gotta love anybody going into a House with a definate possibility that this same House may not let you Live to walk out. I personnally would like to see a haunted house movie take an approach similar to "Television Terror" Tales from the Crypt season 2 Episode 16.

The only thing that's good about The Amityville legacy, is the fact that people are still buying into all of the crap that the Lutz family, and The Warrens have been spewing for years. I've read anything and everything about this story, and the only thing that's scary, is that people believed all the nonsense. The original was a good film. Good not Great. They left out so much stuff from the book it's offensive to the writer. The remake(I hate remakes), was pretty lousy. The couple is more attractive, but that's about the best part of it. Jody is supposed to be a huge pig with glowing eyes. Amityville 2- The Possession, was probably the best of all of them, and that's just because it's kind of a prequel to the 1st one. Defeo(Ronald) was a junkie that killed his fanily for the money, nit because he was possessed. Also, that Paranormal State show that uses the Warren wife as an advisor, is pretty lame. She's been outed as a fake(along with her husband) by others that were to be brought into the original hoax, but backed out. No more please!!!
I wonder if it will be anything like the orginal Amittyville Horror 2: The Possesion. and if so then i would love to see it i would like to see anyways what they are going to do with this. personally i hate the reamke of Amittyville Horror they completely murdered the orginal and the remake was ridiculous. it sucked so bad i just hope this one might be better

hollywood is always going to remake and make sequels for everything.... the sooner people relize this the better and the less bitching everyone will have to hear.... so they are making a sequel oh well if you dont like it here is a tip DONT WATCH IT!!!! its really very simple... now now i am diffently not a fan of remakes of classics but then again i dont sit there and bitch about it because thats not going to make it go away.... i dont know maybe i have more of an open mind than some people
It's fine having sequels to popular movies,if you add all the hours together from all the Amityville movies it comes to less than 16 hours.Now add all the hours together for the X Files T.V show and films you have over 200 hours and they could still bring out a new movie this year.You could have 30 more Amityville movies and still have less screen time then the X files or other T.V shows. A long running Film franchise like this or Halloween,Hellraiser,Friday the 13th has a lot less screen time for fans to watch then a long running T.V show.Thats why I always welcome new sequels and remakes.
Nothing wrong with a new sequel as long as its good. Nowadays everyones using the cgi junk and it destroys a potentially great horror film. Cgi, good for some styles of movies such as "war of the worlds" type ones. But die hard horror fans hate that for this genre. Thats why the older horror movies will always be cult classics they where more real and original. My guess Amityville will be jammed with bullshit computer effects. The first one was trash because of this dependency. Where is tom savini when you need him!
i'm already scared,,,, about how much this movie might suck. Conceptually it sounds o.k. but once this baby is fully fleshed out, be prepared to hide under your seats.
