Last night B-D reporter Tim Anderson posted his official review of Rogue Pictures' The Unborn, which is now in theaters everywhere. "It’s all a very interesting premise and in the hands of a filmmaker with a bit more savvy in the craftsmanship department, THE UNBORN might have been a tense little thriller with a weighty backstory. Unfortunately, the film is rather a mess." Click the title for the full review and don't forget to write your own review and tell other B-D readers what you thought. In addition, David Harley posted his thoughts, which can be found on his blog here on B-D.
What a shame. I had high hopes for this movie. i do agree that odette is a little too mature to be playing a 19 yr. old. I will probably see this one any way. as a lover of horror movies i will give this movie a chance. Cuz I'd rather watch a shitty horror movie then a great action flick or a hilarious comedy. Because I love HORROR. All types and varieties of HORROR. BTY, Twilight is still not horror.
Cathedral opf Demoni is so wise. Everyone, follow his lead, don't waste time on it. Oh wait, no no, Cathedral opf Demoni is following the lead of tim anderson. instead of coming to his own conclusion about the movie, he just does as he is told. sheeple are ruining America. no jspoole, that is not a misspelled word, i mean sheeple. BahBah sheeple.
I'll wait until it comes out on DVD. I knew it looked like "The Exorcist meets J-horror" from the trailers, but the review only confirmed it. Not to mention my hate of obviously OLDER actors/actresses portraying younger characters(while they don't look or act the part right). Though, to note, I do think the creatures look creepy in this movie!
No Texican666 I am not following anyone's lead. I am a well school horror fan that listens to no one and knows crap [my own conclusion] when I see it. By the way I'm from Texas and I am a [far from a redneck]Texan and you being Texican tells me that you are most likely a Mexican making you one of what is ruining our great state. At least you are a South Park fan which we have in common. And seeing how you have a weird obesseion with wanting to be COOL I have to say I am cooler than you. Not that I care in the least. This is the beginning and end of pointless bickering on my end. Adios Amigo!
my family has been in texas since texas was part of mexico you fucking racist prick. how many generations has your family been in america? thank you for showing your true colors. your words mean nothing to anyone.
I don't think it has anything to do with mindlessly following a review, but moreso a review making note of bad aspects you already feared would present. And, especially in this economy, I don't think people have the money to blow on a crappy movie than spending that money on more worthwhile investments or forms of entertainment. And I don't think the whole "hate" on these boards is generally powered by some trend where "hating newer movies is cool". If anything, it seems the opposite. Those who hate newer movies generally are not accepted as being cool, and it's MORE trendy and cool to like anything hip, LIKE the newer movies. Anyways, since when has voicing your opinion on the matter been considered a quality of being a mindless sheep? If anything, opinions show you are but one person, willing to stand up and state your mind even if others disagree with you. That's the reason why this isn't a fan site for newer movies, and is a site where ALL fans could come and state their opinions, be them disgust at the way horror is headed or joy in the way horror is headed. It's like, how people in IMDb try to say, "Oh, you people are stupid for hating this movie! Go to another board!!". It's not a fan site. Want a fan site, start your own in Yahoo! Groups. Only let diehard fans in and don't accept haters. Seriously.
that is a very valid argument magnaderalpha. thank you for using your mind and actually thinking of something thought worthy to read. i bore with the "your stupid" argument, and the new all time low "mexicans are ruining texas" comeback. what i was trying to say by labeling Cathedral opf Demoni "sheeple" is that he and he himself never appears to want to see any movie ever, which makes me wonder why he is on this site. i often take note of his negative nancy attitude towards anything horror and label him sheeple. i apologize if i offended you or anyone else.
I actually saw the movie today, not bad, not great either it a movie that it's hyped well in the trailer and you get VERY high hopes on it than like umm that is good but I was expecting great... the whole exorcism thing reminded me of the Exorcist and Emily Rose that stuff with a little of The Eye mixed in however I liked it if you can save a little extra $ see the early show. It cost me $9.25 to see I say depends if you want to hear your gf scream or you get scared easy than this movie will work your lungs!! (TRUST ME i HAD TO HEAR THE CHICK NEXT TO ME EVERY 3 SECONDS...POOR EAR DRUM LOL) If your like me and need something to really freak you out than you might be let down. Either way it is better than some those sad excuses for 2008 horrors...and hey if your let down Bloody Valentine will be here in 6 days!! and F13 next month so keep the hopes up!!
I saw the Unborn today and really just felt insulted and stupid for it. To me every aspect of the film was an uninspired factory gray hour-and-some-odd-minutes of disappointment that someone plotted out after watching the Exorcist and the Omen back to back, but didn't want to put in the effort to make anything near as good.
What I feel deserves an award is the trailer to the film, which sold a completely different movie experience than was actually delivered. From now on I've decided to see fewer horror movies, and take time to look into them much more carefully.
I except your apology Texican and issue one myself. I don’t like being labeled [sheeple for example, I in no way am a blind follower like so many] so after ignoring several comments you made to me I fired back with that very inappropriate and harsh all time low statement Mexicans are ruining Texas because I knew it would get under your skin. I apologize because 1. I’ll take the fucking prick because I am a bit a bit of a smart ass, but I am in no way a RACIST, I have nothing against Mexicans or any race. We are just people trying make the best of what we have. 2. Hell yeah I’m negative about the genre as it stands today because it is crap for the most part [to me]. I live for horror and have close to 4000 movies in my collection from old Universal to the dire present. I’m just very frustrated with the majority of what is coming out right now. What the hell here is my top 10 [by DVD release date] for 09.
1. Frontier[s
2. Inside
3. The Strangers
4. Baby Blues
5. The Living and the Dead
6. Mulberry Street
7. The Lost
8. Midnight Meat Train
9. Zibahkhana [Hell’s Ground]
10. Mother of Tears [no it wasn’t great but I love Italian horror and decided to give Dario some love.]
By the way I’ve been to San Antonio numerous times. Are you familiar with Ruthie’s? or Rojo Molina? Rojo has the best Steak ala Mexicana fajita’s I ever eaten. Awesome munchies.
I went to see The Unborn last night because I wanted to make my mind up myself. The problem that I had with it was all of the scary parts have been shown already (either here at BD in clips, or in the trailers) I felt like I had already seen the movie. I really wanted to like it...but I was a bit disappointed.
Cathedral opf Demoni i am a former fat guy, of course i know of ruthies and rojo molina. apology accepted.
