While we have confirmed that George A. Romero's latest will NOT be called ISLAND OF THE DEAD, the legendary director's latest zombie massacre is going by ...of the Dead for the time being. Last week we brought you a holiday treat with the first ever image from the film, now a hi-res image has surfaced over at USA Today. You can check it out beyond the break.

Well they look like Zombies, but so many do now-a-days. Lets hope George can scare us again, but after diary I'm cautious.

After reading this --The plot involves inhabitants of an isolated island off the North American coast who find their relatives rising from the dead to eat their kin. The leaders of the island feud over whether or not to kill their reanimated relatives or preserve them in hopes of finding a cure.-- was interested because I live on an island off the coast of north america (LOL)

I'll never understand "Diary" critics; what DIDN'T Romero deliver in that movie?

He didn't deliver good acting. He didn't deliver a good script. He didn't deliver good dialogue. He didn't deliver anything with any subtlety. The social commentary was childishly done. Oh wait. But there was a scene were acid ate through a zombie's skull. Your right. It was great.

lol, ill never understand why people LIKED diary of the dead.

I think he should give the dead a rest.

Diary of the Dead was crap, but I think it was always intended to be a sort of side project rather than a full budget story. It was quite quickly made and I couldn't help but feel it was a bit rushed. Perhaps it should have been only available online to download or something. I thought Land of the Dead was great but I'm pleased to hear that this next movie has a narrower and more personal concept behind it.

agreed the diary was a bummer. it was boring and everything about it was just half-ass... boring, boring....

...of the dead. Romero is a legend in my eyes. I have'nt seen Diary yet, we are slow getting good Romero flicks down here in Oz. So I can't give an opinion on that yet. But his other films, Land, Day, Dawn and Night were NEVER said to have GREAT ACTING/DIALOGUE etc. He just deliver great zombie stories as far as I was concerned. So i can't understand the negativity to Diary. I do have it on order from the UK. So I guess I'll know, one way or another, soon enough.

Maybe Diary will grow on people over time, but right now it's just annoying.

Not really impressed. I also hated diary. It was so boring. I think Romero should have made direct sequels to Dawn of the dead and Day of the dead. It would have been cool to see the further adventures of the survivors from both movies.

Should've stopped at Day. While Land and Diary had some cool deaths, George Romero's political agenda has taken over the movies, and they just don't have impact.

i hope this movie will be good, but the zombie lady in this pic just looks like she smeared her lipstick on her face. not scary. i really hope Romero has truly horrific looking zombies in this. i LOVE the 'Island' setting and theme but i hope this isn't going to be a HEAVY HANDED, preachy and NOT fun or exciting movie (Diary of the Dead).

Sook-Yin Lee zombie, i knew one day she would show her true form.

I love Night, Dawn, and Day, and Land was pretty good, but Diary was nearly unwatchable! The characters were sooooo boring and dumb as shit too, and narrator couldn't have been more obnoxious. There was hardly any gore, and the small amount that we got was all cgi garbage. Where is Tom Savini? Diary of the Dead is an atrocity, and if Romero's name wasn't on it no one would give a shit about it. I'll see this new movie but I've pretty much lost all faith in Romero.

The plot sounds like it might be interesting. One side fights for life while the other dosen't. I can't wait for this to hit the big screen. The question will be: what will happen when you hear "The tribe has spoken."

I hope there are cool zombie death scene like in Dawn, Day, and Land of the Dead. There weren't any in Diary of the Dead, what we need is another Rhodes death. "CHOKE ON IT"!!!

Sadie5C00

Romero has lost his touch. He is trying way too hard in his newer movies to capture the political satire he did with Dawn. Land was a complete waste of time and Diary was on the edge of ludicrous.

deadlover, you basically described 99% of ALL modern horror. The only difference is that Romero is a veteren, so people naturally say, "He should've KNOWN better", while younger directors are hailed for the little they bring to movies cause, "Hey, for being young, they did some....alright stuff!!".

romero is like george lucas, his best days are behind him. let the new guys take your ideas to the next step. hang em up before you destroy your legacy.
