This past April I was blessed with the opportunity to visit the set of New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures' latest Friday the 13th (trailer) film, where I witnessed the new Jason Voorhees (Derek Mears) in the flesh! Tonight we've been given the green to give you our entire exclusive on set report, which is broken into three parts. In addition, you'll find several interviews with the cast and crew behind the film: stars Derek Mears, Jared Padalecki, Danielle Panabaker, Travis Van Winkle, Julianna Guill, writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, along with Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller. Click here to get started or pick and choose what you want to look at over at our B-D Interviews page. Watch for tons more coming soon and check out FRIDAY THE 13TH in theaters February 13, 2009.
Don't see how it's possible, but even after this the haters will still be hating this movie. Platinum Dunes and Michael Bay really seem to have gotten this thing right>
tszilla: I was very skeptical about this movie and rather against it for a long time, but that trailer recently was SO beautifully done, that I'm not very excited.
excellent report, BD!!! i just wish Fuller (and gang) would get off the "crazy nudity and sex" riff. WE GET IT. and from what the test screenings said there's 2 (count 'em...2) sex scenes. that's no CRAZY SEX. anyhoo, i'm really excited for this.
p.s. can you guys use and UPDATED (there are MANY) pic from now on of Danielle? that pic is SO old and makes her look 5 years old! LOL.
Derek Mears seems more and more like the right choice as the days go by.
This dude seems extremely excited to play Jason and most importantly, has impressive knowledge of the previous installments. The footage I've seen makes him seem relentless and that's refreshing. Jason vs Freddy made Jason out to be a big bitch.
This footage reminds me of Brooker from 3.
IT'S RATED R!!! It's Friday the 13th for f**k sakes! and no you did not have a friend that saw a special screening, because this movie is not open to anyone rite now. I don't even think there completely done shooting this movie. so you are lying. NOT KOOL
they had test screenings, but its RATED R, I remember reading about set reports where various actresses didn't know they "signed on for a porno". Also, the filmmakers had stated over and over and over again this would be a hard R and I read this has more sex than any other Friday film. GAH!!
Plus, lets remember that there were "TEST" screenings. Meaning they had different footage and whatnot to try out. Given this, they may not have put in all of the sex to open the testing to more people. I'm not exactly sure if it works this way, but it makes sense. So maybe everybody's right (but the theatrical version is DEFINITELY rated R).
Based on this full set report, I can finally say with 99% certainty that this movie is going to f***ing BLOW. They have sucked out everything that was sacred about the first few movies and left us with another slick, modernized remake that eschews all faithfulness to its roots. Fun, laughs, and scares--oh boy! I f***ing want the scares, and nothing else, thanks. I'm telling you, if you loved everything after The Final Chapter, you'll probably love this piece of shit; if your heart, like mine, is with the first three films, you're going to want to cry. Thank you Michael "I-fuck-up-everything-I-touch" Bay--much appreciated. At least you're consistent.
aaah damn. i hate it when there's fights. why can't we all just agree that Friday the 13th is what we need in theaters? let's all have an orgy to celebrate!!!
Jason Vorhees is an iconic character that is beloved by his fans...and detested by his haters. The fans also seem to have developes favourites in the series. And that is cool. For me, the joy of anticipating a new Friday The 13th film is phenomenal. I have never seen a true F13th flick on the big screen. I look forward to the new take. No matter how "modernized" it is. Jokes and sex are going to run rampant? Who gives a fuck. So is Jason. Te trailer looks good and has done it's job. Teased the fans. if you hate it already (and i really can't understand those of us film fans who prejudge a movie for a tow minutes trailer and a set report), then stay away. But you might missing something truly surprising and unique.
lmfao at quint's machete.
i dont think there is much to fuck up in friday the 13th other than the mythology. all of the series have been fun blood-n-tits-fests, and the remake should be too. i just hope the kids know how to act well.
