Update: Trailer also now on BDTV, while inside you'll find stills and a new synopsis: If you head on over to MTV, you can check out the first trailer for Rogue Pictures' The Unborn, Platinum Dunes' first original feature film production. David Goyer's (The Dark Knight) psychological thriller follows an 18-year-old who is haunted by a Dybbuk - the soul of a dead person barred from heaven - in the form of a young boy who perished in Auschwitz. Odette Yustman, Gary Oldman, Cam Gigandet, Meagan Good, Carla Gugino, Jane Alexander, Idris Elba, Rhys Coiro and James Remar all star in the film arriving in theaters January 9th.
Sometimes the soul of a dead person has been so tainted with evil that it is denied entrance to heaven. It must endlessly wander the borderlands between worlds, desperately searching for a new body to inhabit.
And sometimes it actually succeeds.
Writer/director David Goyer (Blade: Trinity, The Invisible, Batman Begins) gives a terrifying glimpse into the life of the undead in The Unborn, a supernatural thriller that follows a young woman pulled into a world of nightmares when a demonic spirit haunts her and threatens everyone she loves.
Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman) hated her mother for leaving her as a child. But when inexplicable things start to happen, Casey begins to understand why she left. Plagued by merciless dreams and a tortured ghost that haunts her waking hours, she must turn to the only spiritual advisor, Sendak (Gary Oldman), who can make it stop.
With Sendak’s help, Casey uncovers the source of a family curse dating back to Nazi Germany—a creature with the ability to inhabit anyone or anything that is getting stronger with each possession. With the curse unleashed, her only chance at survival is to shut a doorway from beyond our world that has been pried open by someone who was never born.
i have to admit, every time i heard about this project i was thinking "LAME", but after seeing this trailer, i totally stand corrected. it is AWESOME! i'm DEFINITELY going to see this. the shot of the guy doing the upside down crab walk is SO fucking scary looking!! i'm in.
This actually looks pretty damn intense. It really shows that violence doesn't make the horror film, although a slasher element would be nice...So this'll probably be PG-13? I couldn't imagine that they could show an exorcism and shit in a PG-13...
OMG! WTF? This better not be pg-13! When I was reading about this I was hoping this was not going to be dumb. But from the trailer this looks really scary and creepy! Finally something that looks like it will scare me!
two horror movies in one...looks awsome in that aspect. then, there is the Micheal Bay directing. let's look at his previous work, transformers(Rolls eyes), pearl harbor, armageddon. Want to hold out hope but judging from the list, this movie will find some way to be some kind of pg-13 bull
im so psyched for this film. i just saw the trailer and it looks insane. maybe this will be the hope for new GOOD horror movies out of my generation.
