Yesterday we broke the news that David Alcalde would be directing an untitled remake to the '70s film, WHO CAN KILL A CHILD? This morning, B-D reader 'Mario' sent us an e-mail from Spain where he reveals that Filmax is producing the film with Gold Circle under the title In the Playground, with Diego Luna (Vampires: Los Muertos) attached to star. In addition to a longer synopsis, you'll also find a pre-production poster for the film, which is used to sell the film at various film markets. Watch for more on this project soon.
An English couple and a photographer head off for their holidays to La Isla Verde, a remote Mexican island, in the hope that Paul can finish the children's book that he's writing.
On arrival, they're perturbed to discover that they are the only adults on the island. The town where they've landed is inhabited only by children, who silently stare at them with eerie smiles.
What is happening on this island? The grown ups are about to discover that these youngsters are possessed by a kind of madness that makes them kill all adults. Now, they’re determined to prevent the these accidental tourists from ever getting off the island alive…
Pansies. Little flowery pansies. I understand the name change from a marketing point of view, I guess....but who is this remake being made for? 'In The Playground' is a ridiculously ridiculous title. The more i think about it the madder I am getting! Morons.
Not getting the connection between title and story. Kids=Playground? Weak. I saw clips of the original and found it to be interesting. I'd like to see this movie but I hope they do it more justice than they did with the title.
it's better that they change the name.
the remake will never measure up to the original anyway.
and to anyone who thinks its a ripoff of children of the corn, "who can kill a child?" pre-dates the cotc by a few years.
