Have you ever seen the Spanish short film HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU? If you haven't, try and find a way to see it, because it's absolutely extraordinary. After playing his film in dozens of festivals, director David Alcalde is finally set to make his directorial debut here in the States with a remake to the '70s Spanish horror flick, WHO CAN KILL A CHILD? Co-written by Alcalde and David Muñoz, the film (that is yet to be titled) will follow a vacationing couple arrive on an island where the native children have gone crazy and are murdering adults. Gold Circle Films is producing. Click here for details and a review of the original.

Have I ever said how much I love being directed back to the same page? It makes feel all warm and fuzzy inside, AND THATS NOT A GOOD THING!!!
To the point though ¿Quién puede matar a un niño? Yeah they, found him 28 years ago, his name is Narciso Ibáñez Serrador and he directed Blame for "Six films to Keep You Awake".
I'm not going to jump on this bandwagon any more, and I mean this one"Another remake, didnt see that one coming" or "Fuck this remake shit!".You know what, until people stop seeing this drivel it wont stop, and it wont , because people are going to see this shit no matter what we boycott, no matter how many petitions we sign or, really, what we do in general. Nobody cares. Jason's' got a brand new hair piece, Freddy's really dead and Spiderman is screwing Golem, thats the sad fact people. So embrace this shit, like you would a parasite that'd kill you if removed, cause it isn't going away.

It is pretty hard these days to get noticed as a new director without first doing a remake to get their names known. But I highly doubt this remake will come close to the shock value of the original. Americans would never accept this being a mainstream film if it was done properly. We can expect a watered down version, but I hope I am wrong.
you know I just bought "who could kill a child?" because I forgot about it and kind of re-discovered it. Now of course it's going to be remade. I feel like when old films like this are remade it kind of cheapens them. I mean vinyan is based on WCKAC and that's coming out soon. I'm not against remakes but this is kind of annoying.

Completely disagree...if anything they do an original and then to do a remake (i.e. alex aja)

completely agree
I am not familiar with this film, however, a 30 year old foreign horror flick that may not be accepted in mainstream modern day America? Why is that? It can't be that disturbing that it can't be done properly. I have to see this movie now. I love horror movies/stories that involve scary, creepy children. I wish they would make "Suffer the Children" by John Saul into a movie. That would be a great horror flick.
The original is way more fun than Children of the Corn. Seek it out if you havent seen it. Netflix it, baby! I'll take a remake if it pulls no punches and has an R rating.
"if anything they do an original and then to do a remake (i.e. alex aja)" I should rephrase my statement and say that those who want to break into the US mainstream cinema usually begin with a remake. Alex Aja ofc did Haute Tension which was French. The Hills Have Eyes was his US/remake premier. Mainstream America does not like graphic violence against children depicted on screen. Studios would be too afraid to market such a film for fear of losing money and face due to a backlash from the media and public.
Dr Brains Duh! Thank you! I have netflix and should of thought of that yesterday. Put it at the top of my queue. Looking forward to checking this out. Thanks again.
