Honestly, i really cant believe they haven't used a pendulem yet either, i was thinking the same thing. But i mean he crushed his hands so why the fuck didnt the thing stop...more amanda im gonna just kill everyone bullshit going on here. If they just die it loses its point, this better not fuck up like that.
Watching this, I can't help but think that Bousman would've done more with this scene. David Hackyl's directing seems kind of bland and lacks the kind of impact and intensity that this sort of scene should have. Also the monologue Jigsaw gives here seems very lame "right now you're feeling helpless, the same helplessness you've bestowed onto others". Who wrote this? Jigsaw's earlier monologues were damn near poetry next to this crap. Not to mention the trap is a little more than a copy of the gouge out your eyes or lose your arms and legs trap from Saw 4. The whole "remove what you've used to hurt people or you die" motif from the earlier trap.
I'm not sure about this. I agree with americangods about the direction. Bousman, as much as I dislike him, is a far better director than this clip indicates that Hackl is. However, this trap was pretty decent. I may check this out after all, but certainly not in theaters after my disappointment with Saw IV.

same shit. These film are like all the same. The first was scary and great..2 i hated at first but it was actually good...3 I haven't seen since opening day 06 but it was good...saw 4...odd and confusing ending. I MIGHT see this one, but just for Megan Good.
So the thing still came down in the end? Is this going to be more Amanda traps? I hope not... man that will piss me off. Where's the actual trailer for this movie to. It's NOT NOT NOT going to do go if we don't ever get more that cube headed dude.
I'd rather have another sequel to a very original franchise that is able to be number every year and still tie everything together each time, than all these godamn remakes! Come on, I still dont get why eveyone is so scared and not excepting of a new horror franchise. Would you rather have remake after remake or more PG-13 cliched films. Answer that one. The SAW franchise has been the best thing to come along in years, and I have already stated a few reasons why it still is a great series. I guess most people cant handle change, cuz remember, everything has to be left at a trilogy now a days, or no new ideas are ever allowed anymore.
Well, it doesn't actually show him being cut in half, so maybe it's just setup that way, but i hope it is, cuz im sick of this purposly killing everyone amanda crapm she's dead now... it's hoffman's game, so please make it fairm cuz ur fucknig up the stryline if you don't!!!
I love the Saw movies (although I thought the series should have ended with the 3rd one, since the 4th definitely lost some of the magic), and I liked this clip. For having already done over a dozen traps already, this was a fresh and cool idea. Though I miss Darren Lynn Bousman's direction already...
bash all you want, but everyone will eventually watch this film. no matter how cool they seem saying theyll skip it or the first one was the better,,theyll watch it, this franchise is like crack dude. im curious how it will all en, the clip was cool..but i think hackl may have fallen behind a bit. its a cool trap but theres no fear in the machine...bousman showed that...even wan. ill wait for the whole film before i make a judgement.
Fabian Trioxin I agree. This also goes for the remakes, people will bash and bash but still see the movie. I'm also bored with the Saw franchise and think it should have stopped at 3, but I will rent Saw5 hell it will be available by February.

I dont think this dude will live...He didnt do it in time..Also..I think this is the opening sequence...
The trap supposedly malfunctioned (or whatever). It could show that Hoffman ISN'T quite ready to be an apprentice and that could lead to bigger things. BTW, since we didn't see him die, there IS a chance that it stops at a perfect time / right on time..
I looked and saw it this way;
Billy implies that Seth only has 30 seconds to crush his hands to stop the pendulum. He starts freaking out and wastes time. When he finally does it, the clock shows 40 seconds have gone by. The lowering device doesn't lower when the hand-crushing machine is on. We don't get any views of it lowering during the time his hands are crushing, just the pendulum swinging. Doesn't seem very SAW-ish though . . .
So, Hoffman is not an engineer ergo, his traps don't work too well, ergo he fails at being the new jigsaw and must become a helping hand to whomever is the "other apprentice" that IV alluded to.
I don't know how Bloody Disgusting could have screwed up big time with the clip, but yes I liked the new trap.
Too bad the new director has been unable to build up any suspense at all, with both the pendulum and the stupid looking box-on-head devise. By what I've seen so far, this installment will most definitely be the by far worst in the series.

I LIKED THIS CLIP . I LOVED ALL THE SAW MOVIES BUT I KINDA FELT 4 DRONED ON . ALL THE FLASHBACKS TIE THEM TOGETHER AND 5 WILL MAKE SAW 4 MAKE MORE SENSE...I HOPE AND I THINK WE HAVEN'T SEEN THE LAST OF DR. ARMSTRONG....HE WILL RETURN !!!
I liked this clip a lot. It didn't sound like the audio was a final mix, so hopefully it will sound better in theaters. I also like what I'm seeing from Hackl. It was slower and easier to understand. I love Bousman's work on the series, but sometimes the traps were a little too flashy and quick. This had a nice and slow buildup. I like.
Can't really say much on this one besides I agree wit whoever Sold Their Soul To The Devil. It didnt drop during the crushin scene but it seems like a copycat to Amanda's "You Die Anyway cuz u dont deserve to go free" idea(s). But this is Saw so chances are, we'll have blood from the Windoooooooows to the Waaaaaaaaaaall.
