UPDATE: Warner Bros. made a mistake, read about it here: I'm being told this is NOT erroneous information - although I'm hearing mass confusion from both ends - as this afternoon Warner Bros. Pictures sent out a document stating what films each publicist is working on later this year, and next. One film included on the list was Mike Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat (review; set visit), which we were told was dropped from the studio a few months back. We put in a call with the studio who confirmed, so it looks as if we still might get to see this awesome movie in theaters soon! We're trying to find out more as we speak. The film features four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; and a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband.
I HOPE it gets released for Halloween this year! That would be perfection. It's been a while since a good Horror Anthology film has been released, and this one looks toppers!
i really want to see this too, but i'm SO tired of the false starts and stops regarding this film. either shit or get off the pot!!! dump it on to DVD, or fucking release it already! i'm sure it's going to be good/great, so what is the fucking hold up?!!
i will be pissed if this don't get released in Australian theatres. Midnight Meat train which ive been waiting for since the start of the year is going direct-to-dvd at the start of next year, so im really pissed off
Masquerade, masquerade
Grab your mask and don't be late
Get out get out well disguised
Heat and fever in the air tonight
Meet the others at the store,
Knock on other people's door
Trick or treat they have the choice,
Little ghosts are makin' lotsa noise
But watch out...beware - listen...take care
In the streets on halloween
There's something going on
No way to escape the power unknown
In the streets on halloween
The spirits will arise
Make your choice, it's hell or paradise
Ah--it's halloween
Ah--it's halloween...tonight!
heh, i think of this song everytime i see this movie anywhere...
Well this is a nice surprise, I do hope this is released this October because 1. This one of my most anticipated films and 2. I think it would be nice for this to crush SAW V for what Lionsgate did to Midnight Meat Train. (That and pretty much show there are much better films to see for Halloween.)
Let's do the logic and find out if we get to see the movie this year. Most major releases start their hot-and-heavy marketing 6-8 week before release (think back to when you saw the first ads for MIRRORS). They have to open before Halloween but Saw V and Quarantine have taken Oct 17 & 24, which leaves Oct 3rd (maybe too early but still workable), Oct 31 (too late), and October 10 (but then it competes against Leo DiCaprio's new movie). Let's say that the 10th is chosen, that means ads must start by August 29th - Sep 12th at the latest. If we hear nothing by then, this movie is not coming out this year. Then again, a limited release followed by the DVD release (a la "FEAST") would also work Mr. Warner Bros!
This movie, the Poughkeepsie Tapes, and the original version of Paranormal Activity (not the toned-down, completely unnessesary remake) are the three horror movies I have really wanting to see for some time now. I know the trend now is remakes, sequels, and PG-13 stuff. But they could at least throw this other good stuff on DVD for us serious horror folks. Fuck that Prom Night remake too.
I always say "fuck the Prom Night remake". It's kind of my trademark.
