This past weekend Universal Pictures showed the first footage from their remake of The Wolfman, which you can all now see by reading on. Like the 1941 original that starred Lon Chaney Jr., new pic will be set in Victorian England. Del Toro will play a man who returns from America to his ancestral homeland, gets bitten by a werewolf and begins a hairy moonlight existence. Click here for all Comic Con coverage.

Hope it's good. Would feel more confident about it if Romanek had directed as planned. Those images didn't grab me like the trailer for DRACULA did (FFC version). I think the F13 footage looks better. Seriously.

Was it me or does Del Toro almost resemble Oliver Reed from Curse of the Werewolf? I kept thinking of that movie as I watched this. Anyway I'm stoked for it.

Hell yes. This is one remake that I'm actually looking forward to.

I was also thinking of Curse of the Werewolf. Though the overall look of the film reminded me also of Coppola's Dracula movie, and not just because of Hopkins.

Holy shit, that looks fantastic. I am seriously pumped for this now, it seems like its been a long time since we;ve seen a good monster movie-- hopefully, this'll be it.

Talk about doin justice to an original! With little exception, I am getting tired of reboots and remakes from films that are barely 20 years old. In this case, we get to revisit a classic that came out in the early ages of cinema. I will always remember watching the characters that Lon Chaney Jr., Bela, and Boris brought to life when I was kid sitting in front of the TV with my Dad. This looks like it respects that type of heritage.

This will be awesome. The look is very old school Universal style Gothic. It looks like it's very true to the original Can't wait. Now where's "The Creature From The Black Lagoon'?????

I agree with the latter. It does look really good. Also, it looks like it well have that same dark gothic feel that both Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow and Bram Stokers Dracula had and I love that. :)

I am a HORROR movie!!!

I honestly don't think of this as a remake at all. I love the original Wolfman movies...but for some reason this seems detached to me. Fuckin' stoked for it though.

It looks pretty good. I was kinda hoping that it would be set in modern day like An American Werewolf in Paris but much better.

looks good, i agree with the victor mature/curse of the werewolf resemblance. now please for the love of god get the new creature from the blacklagoon on the fast track and maybe resurrect the frankenstien vs the wolfman redux from a few years back that got shelved in favor of van helising.

If they keep redoing Universals Films like THIS and not the direction that they went in with the godaweful new mummy franchise, then bring it on, b/c this looks awesome! I hope they take a similar approach to the CREATURE redux.
