Quint over at Aint it Cool News broke the news this weekend on the first voice casting for The Goon. Creator Eric Powell tells the site that "The Goon is going to be Clancy Brown... The Kurgan!...And Frankie is going to be none other than Paul Giamatti." I've never read "The Goon", but I picked up a few TPBs to give it a go, the "Metalocalypse/The Goon" one shot was pretty incredible. Those unfamiliar with "Goon" (like me), the story is about the adventures of the Goon, a muscle-bound brawler who claims to be the primary enforcer for the feared mobster Labrazio. The Goon (and his sidekick Franky) often get tied up in other machinations, often in relation to the evil zombie gangs under the command of the Nameless Zombie Priest. ...Read More

While Jackson evaded questions about returning to horror last night (he had his heart set on talking about building planes), he told Comic Con audiences that he wants to return to his evil roots still. JoBlo reports the following from Hall of of the San Diego Comic Con, "Someone asked producer Peter Jackson if he has any plans on returning to horror movies, and his answer was... YES! While he's producing THE HOBBIT, he's not gonna be there to look over Guillermo del Toro's shoulder, so he may find a little horror movie to make in the meantime, to keep himself busy." Can we get some more blood? Fingers crossed. Jackson directed the classics Dead Alive (Brain Dead), along with Meet the Feebles and Bad Taste.
Update: In addition to the giant piece of art you'll find below, BC writes in from that director Scott Stewart says the film, "will be a hard-R"." At a press event at the San Diego Comic Con for Sony Screen Gems' Legion, stars Adrianne Palicki and Paul Bettany both told reporters that they're signed on for three films that would turn this into a franchise. Obviously, the performance of the first film will dictate if we see more. Directed by Scott Stewart, the story follows a group of strangers stranded in a desert truckstop who must band together to stop an army of demonic creatures out to fulfill an ancient prophecy that opens the gates of hell. Hopefully hell will open on January 22, 2010, I'll take a trip there. ...Read More
