The San Diego Comic Con is so hectic that we rarely get more than three-minutes to chat one-on-one with a filmmaker, or star. Such the case with Rhona Mitra, who will topline Sony Screen Gems' Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, which arrives in theaters January 23rd. PLOT CRUNCH: The prequel is set in the Dark Ages and traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires and their one-time werewolf slaves, the Lycans.
45-Seconds with Rhona Mitra
Bloody-Disgusting: So you went into the future with Doomsday and now you’re going into the past with Underworld...
Rhona: True! I didn’t even think of that, you’re right.
Bloody: Which is more fun, when do you get to kick more ass?
Rhona: Both, equally fun and ridiculous. I love them both. I suppose there’s something definitely more playful about being in Underworld, because I get to wear all of these wonderful costumes, and fangs, and have superpowers, which I didn’t have in Doomsday, I was a mere mortal there.
Bloody: And you have both eyes now!
Rhona: Yes, I have both pairs of eyes. And teeth-
Bloody: Wait, two pairs of eyes?
Rhona: Two eyes! (laughs) You know what I meant!
Bloody: (laughs). So are you enjoying it, would you want to come back for a 4th film?
Rhona: It depends what happens to it, but I would imagine the way that it’s going that it would be a bit tricky, because of the way things turn out. But we’ll see!
ulg. I don't really like Rhona Mitra, especially in this. I mean, she's hot and all, but she looks like the poor man's Kate Beckinsale. She looks like she could be Kates stunt double in the first 2. Actually that's what annoyed me to the point of tears about Doomsday, is that her character was a carbon copy of Selene from this series. OK. Rant over.
Kate Beckinsale... Rhona Mitra... maybe they'll have another Underworld starring another look alike, such as Natalie Imbruglia... Underword 4: Lesbian Love Triangle. I'd watch that in theaters.
