While walking the floor at the San Diego Comic Con, we stumbled across a look at the brand new "hood" that Jason Voorhees will wear in the remake of FRIDAY THE 13TH, which hits theaters February 13, 2009!! The first look comes in the form of a prototype figure for the Plantinum Dunes remake, coming in 2009 from Mezco Toys. The film directed by Marcus Nispel is the retelling of the original Friday the 13th about teenaged summer camp counselors that are systematically slaughtered by a mysterious killer. This remake is going to shut all the idiots up who say this remake is not going to be good. This is the one remake that will show people that not all remakes are bad but good. I cant wait for this movie.
Oh this remake is going to suck. Do people actually like how Jason looks? He's wearing a t-shirt with a jacket! A T-SHIRT. How exactly is that "bad ass"? The thing about remakes too that people don't seem to understand is that once they make a remake, they pretty much kill the franchise. Look at Texas Chainsaw Massacre, they didn't make anymore sequels to the originals after they did that. I bet you won't see any Halloween sequels either. Now the Friday the 13th series will be dead, after this movie. Say goodbye to a Freddy vs Jason sequel. Remakes suck.
Ok so anyone willing to help me out here? I am a major jason fan and I have been keeping up with everything that has been posted about the new Friday the 13th, Ive seen every Friday the 13th and to my knowledge Jason wasnt even in the first Friday, he didnt wear the ''hood'' till the second and got the hockey mask in the third so my question is why are they calling it a remake when they are not even following the first 3 ? I am very excited for this movie to hit theaters in feb 09 but Im confused why they are making the remake the way they are. Anyone want to help me out here?
The 13th Ghost, i don't mean this in a disrespectful way, but it doesn't sound like you've been "keeping up w/ everything that has been posted about the new Friday the 13th". it's been common knowledge that this is a combination of key plot/character points from 1-3. he's going to start off w/ the mask and come across the mask.
plus Mrs. V will be in the beginning w/ her (i assume) killing some people then getting decap'd herself. then it's all about Jason.
That's Rocks!!!!!!!! I think this movie is going to be good. The pictures aren't going to predict the movie, good or bad, so I have an open mind and can't wait for next year to come!

Hood looks cool. I like it. The whole outfit is fine with me. He looks like he's going to be pretty brutal in this movie too. Stop complaining about the look...what's wrong with a jacket? You ever hung out on a New England summer night...it's still fucking cold dude. Just look how cool he looks with that axe above his head and the jacket opening up...that picture alone made me realize why they did that. That's scary...quit whining.
Why the hell are you guys complaining? Jason had hair like that in Part 2. Hell, for all we know, that could be pure fan service, and you're going to cry and whine? Same with the hood. If you're going to complain that he's "overdone" or this and that, then you better stop worshipping your precious Part 7 look, because it had "overdone" written all over it.
Not only am I looking forward to seeing this Jason in action, but I think that this new Friday is going to give this dead-as-Jason franchise some more life. And anyone in my theater who complains about the movie the way you guys have will kiss my fist.
as for the hood that's cool, and since my bitching isn't going to change how bad Jason looks, i'm just going to swallow my pride and hope that the movie saves all.

It's not about what Jason looks like that will determine whether or not this movie will suck; the original Friday The 13th films, for the most part, had a sense of light-heartedness to them despite a series of grisly murders. They were fun, usually with likeable characters despite their obvious stereotype. These new Platinum Dunes movies don't know how to have fun; they're all "posing" and "posturing" - nothing fun about them. That, and they fail at generating any suspense, fun, excitement, et al.
out of all the remakes that have been done to the horror classics, im probably looking forward to this one the most. im so glad they didnt change jasons look to much. i cant wait for this movie. keep the images coming
Ok, some folks are talking about how remakes suck (which most do w/ the exception of the TCM) and how they kill a franchise. I'm sorry but both Hallowenn and Friday the 13th were pretty much on life support and fading fast. Jason X was pathedic and in my opinion the 2nd worst Friday film period. Halloween Resurrection was so pathedic I don't even know where to begin. So the remakes are trying to bring new life to the franchises. Granted I am not thrilled by Jason's look but it could be alot worse. RZ's Halloween (love it or hate it) IS the new franchise and I think that it could very well bring us 3 or 4 films out of it. Now I am not thrilled about the Nightmare on Elm Street remake if Robert isn't playing Freedy. But time will tell who knows the Friday remake may just blow us away or it may just blow. We will all find out on Friday Feb 13th.
Like Suicide, you must not have watched the first one where he was bald. Anyway, for the people who bitch because we complain about how Jason looks, I'll break it down and make it simple for you. I'll use the upcoming remake of Nightmare on Elm st. as an example. You can have a grade-A script but if the first time we see Freddy in the remake pop out wearing Nikes, a pink tanktop and sporting a mullet you'd be mother fucking pissed. and dont tell me you wouldnt. Appearance of our psychos is worthy of voicing our opinions.
I'm with murder inc. The source material is legendary. Biblical for a lot of us. Hence, the almost religious hatred towards anyone trampling over that precious source material. That said, I must stick by my guns and say, If you're going to re-imagine or re-create something, just make it something new. If you rely on the name of a famous killer to get your new film into theaters, that just means your new film isn't good enough to stand on its on two murderous legs.
All that said, this new Jason looks weird. The hockey mask now looks out of place. And thats just wrong.

With all that crazy-ass hair, I hope it's not Joe Dirt. Or maybe it's a human version of Kit Fisto!!!! My God, can't they leave the classics alone already!!!! Maybe they can re-release parts 1-4 on the big screen about a month prior to the new one. Release part 1 the first week, part 2 the second week, ect. That would get the fans amped up for the new one & let a new bunch o' fans see the originals on the big screen. I think it'd be cool as Jason's machete blade!!!! My expectations aren't all that high, but I'll keep an open mind. I'll have fun tearing it to bits afterwards. I lost interest in the Halloween re-make after the first 20 plus minutes. Donald Pleasence would turn over in his grave if he saw that schmuck trying to play HIS role. I'm gonna see the new one anyway, but I have to quote Luke Skywalker & say "I have a very bad feeling about this"

wow, anyway, he looks great. He was at his worse in FVJ, just eww, but it grew on me. And he was very over done in part 7, i liked the look but it was just tooo much.

I agree with Justin_Voorhees. The sack looks badass. It looks like the Biggy Man from the video game Splatterhouse. But Jason with long flowing hippy hair? He remindes me of adult Michael Myers in Rob Zombie's Halloween before he got the Shatner mask. What's with them trying to make horror villains look more like rock stars? He looks like he's ready to start a metal band with Myers and Leatherface.

i agree about the material on horror movies and making a remake that turns out to be bad is pissing on the original but the original you cant erase that.for every shitty remake there is always the original classic that stays in peoples minds. i for one am a friday fan but the clothes dont make the character although u have freddy kruger who basically has his trademark jumper. jason has worn different clothes throughout the friday movies. as long as they stay faithful to the series without completley making an arse of it which may may not happen. im just saying wait til the movie comes out if they havent stayed faithfull to jason at all then people will show there disgust but we will always have the originals. for all those going on about his clothes why dont you say how you would rather see jason and maybe bloody disgusting could do a poll on which era of jason is the best.

Well i was excited to hear a new friday movie was in the works, but as usual, Holly wood has to spend too much money, these movies were made on a tight cheap budget, which in my eyes, makes them a tad scarier than movies made on a big budget, the long black coat, the hockey mask looks weird, it all kinda looks like they are trying to make Jason a somewhat sorta superhero. He no longer realy looks the part of a crazed madman who hasent took care of himself in 30 years. I will go see the movie and more than likely add it to my dvd collection. Just my 2 cents worth. Oh and about the first hood, Just break down , spend a doller 50 and cut a hole in a burlap bag and give him a pair of overalls
