While hanging out over at the brand new Moviehole.net (woh, sexy!), I found some news on Michael Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat (review), which we exclusively announced back in April had been dropped from Warner Bros. Pictures. “The struggle continues. There’s interest from another distributor so negotiations have begun. Keep your severed fingers crossed!” Dougherty tells the Aussie website. So keep those fingers crossed! The film features four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband.
I HOPE someone freakin releases this movie. It was SUPOSED to come out LAST Halloween, but then it got delayed to Spring 2008, and now seemingly it's release date it pending. This seems to be a throwback to the old school horror anthologies like Creepshow and Tales from the Darkside, so I'm just hoping they release it SOMETIME in the VERY NEAR future. The concept is awesome!
All the early reviews have said this movie is great. The preview looks cool too. What the fuck is taking so long? I know the studios have got huge hard-ons for sequels and remakes, but throw us a bone a get this movie released already.
Screw the theatrical release and get on DVD. At least people can FINALLY see it. Or why not follow the FEAST plan of limited release followed immediately by the DVD release. I have a feeling that 2009 may be the earliest release since studios take about a year to work on the marketing plans for major releases.
All right, it's great knowing another distributor is interested in it. Hopefully it will get picked up and put into theaters. Though I have to say I honestly don't get certain movie companies, we have Trick r' Treat which has gotten positive reviews yet it was dropped. Then we have films like Amusment which I haven't seen a single positive review, yet it's somehow holding on to a direct to DVD release.
I Could'nt imagine a company that would'nt want to pick this one up. This movie is going to be a cult classic. It is going to make an excessive amount of money. Damn, If I had the right finaces, I'd put it straight to DVD. These people need to stop tormenting us!
Well I think the film will be crap. Usually when a film is pushed back and no critic reviews it's bad. Take 'The strangers' as example. I thought it would be scary and creepy and it turned out boring.
