While SpookyDan rages on with his own campaign to get the film in theaters, we were slipped two exclusive stills from The Midnight Meat Train (review), which has been the subject of a lot of talk lately due to Lionsgate releasing the film in only 100 theaters come August 1. Read on for a look at the latest Clive Barker adaptation that follows a commuter's run-in with a New York subway serial killer and a horde of subterranean cannibals.

Click either still for a bunch of other pics:

God, i want to see this in the theater (of course i'll blind buy it if i can't see it in the theaters). PLEASE, Lionsgate, give this a wide release. i've joined the campaign by emailing the folks @ Lionsgate. i guess we'll see!

Here's an idea, do a day where the site is dedicated to Midnight Meat Train. No one is going to pay attention to one blip in your news section. Force people to notice it... you guys have the power.

Nothing will make people want to see this more than not being able to see it. Maybe thats the whole promotion...

SEXY.

To kill what korollocke said...This is not a promotion at all. Its due to insider politics that have nothing to do with the film. It goes down as a riff between Producer Peter Bloch and Lions gate's new man Joseph Drake. It is very important for people to call Lions gate and tell them how stupid they are making their company look!

So we know what the rating is? Maybe the film wasn't able to be cut down enough to earn a hard "R", so it can only be released as unrated to select theaters who will carry it? Probably not, but just a thought... Either way, once on video (though a theater would be nice!), I will definitely see it.

Please Lionsgate. I promise if you give MMT a proper release, I will give my hard earned dollars to see Saw 5 and any (God help me!) Tyler Perry movie you put into 3000 theatres...Just throw me a bone and let me see Midnight Meat Train!!!!!

Seriously, I had no intent on seeing Saw V at all. But if they release MMT nationwide I will see it multiple times in theaters!! Just give us are meat and we will watch really bad horror movies by Lionsgate.

The lead actor makes this movie look Direct-2-DVD.

Is the serial killer providing meat for the cannibles???

I saw this film last week. It's really good and deserves to be in theaters. My only beef is that the acting really sucks. Especially the leads. Just didn't believe them at all. But I love the story and the killer is awesome. MORE CREATURES TOO. I wanted to see that long shot of the creatures coming from the depths of the underground towards the subway car.

I know this isnt supposed to be a forum based platform. But this needs to be read! Call in to Lionsgate and protest Saw 5...Do you think there would even be a torture genre if it wasnt for Clive? Below is a post from LA weekly... Furious Fans Fume at Lionsgate I give TV and movie fans a lot of credit: When they get mad, they scare the crap out of the moguls. That’s happening at Lionsgate, where the studio’s phones and e-mail accounts are jammed because new Lionsgate topper Joe Drake appears to be dumping all of ex-prez Peter Block’s movies. That includes Midnight Meat Train, the adaptation of the Clive Barker short story that’s a fave. Supposedly the trailer tested higher than any film in Lionsgate history. But when Drake took over, he promptly bumped Midnight Meat Train from its May 16 release date. The result was that Rogue Pictures’ The Strangers (which was skedded two weekends later) had zero competition in the hard-R category. And guess who was exec producer of The Strangers? Joe Drake. Lionsgate is planning only a 100-theater run on August 1 to merely fulfill the contractual obligation with Lakeshore Entertainment. The plan is to release the DVD immediately after. So fans are asking if the studio that was built on horror-gross (both the gory and cash varieties) is going to bite the hand that’s fed it so well in favor of four Tyler Perry movies a year.

This is for hypermurder. Protesting Saw V isn't going to solve the problem... at all!

I can't wait to see this flick. Vinnie Jones looks great as the butcher, and caretaker of the Subway dwellers. I am going to e-mail Lionsgate.
