Happy Friday the 13th! Here's a look at Jason Voorhees' mask!!
4:51pm, June 13, 2008
Ok, Ok Ok... it's finally here.... it's Friday The 13th and the last day of the production schedule... so first things first. I am truly grateful for all the feedback to my blogs and in honor of today's special date here is a photo of the hero mask in it's carrying case, where Scott Stoddard, our special effects make-up artist, keeps it safely secured when its not covering Jason's gruesome features.
I can't help but be reflective now that we are at the end of this long and sometimes perilous journey in bringing Mr. Voorhees back to the big screen. I am not going to sugar coat things. These last few days have been challenging. Poor Amanda Righetti - she is just flat out getting brutalized, but she is so committed and stays in character from the moment she walks on set to the moment she wraps. It's actually painful to watch. Yesterday she was screaming and crying for 14 hours straight, when it was over she was so spent and totally depleted, but her work will have audiences on the edge of there seats.
Next on the pain brigade is Derek Mears, but for a totally different reason. Derek's prosthetic make-up requires a bunch of glue in order to keep in place on his body and face. At the end of a 14 hour day, it becomes very painful removing the glue and Derek's face is has become increasingly raw and red as a tomato from the process. He claims he is using the pain to fuel Jason's rage - but I feel really bad for him because in these final days he has had to endure getting it ripped off twice a day.
And finally, there's Jared Padalecki, who spent two nights getting his face smashed through a pane of glass over and over. If any of you went to the Dallas "Supernatural" Convention you probably noticed all of the cuts on his nose and forehead.
What impressed me the most though was that each of these actors never, ever complained. Their level of commitment is appreciated and commendable and will pay off on spades come Friday, February 13th, 2009.
A quick note, I owe an apology to writers Shannon and Swift. I mistakenly wrote that Kyle Davis had ad libbed a line that they actually wrote. That's how good a line they wrote.
Anyway, keep checking back as I will continue to update through post production... where the fun really begins!
HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH...

Cant WAIT!!! |
 | themanbehindthemask 5:22pm, June 13, 2008
oh my god...... |
 | disanti 5:24pm, June 13, 2008
Mask looks great just like I said in the last post! That line still isn't that great...but from what I saw in this: http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1589260&vid=245713 : I am pretty sure this movie is going to be good. A lot better actors are in this than FvJ along with a Director that knows what he's doing with a horror movie. CAN'T WAIT till this comes out! |
 | francesco 5:52pm, June 13, 2008
oh my goddddddddd!
thanks a lot. hope u can give us more in the next future. i can't wait till february 13th 2009.
thanks again for everything u made. |
 | magnaderalpha 5:55pm, June 13, 2008
Hehe, I knew that godaweful line could only be concocted by Shannon and Swift. They were responsible for FvJ's "Dude, that goalie was pissed about something.". HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....... But seriously, urhg. On a side note, the mask looks sweet! |
 | nightbreed_16 6:04pm, June 13, 2008
The mask looks almost like the Friday the 13th part VI Jason Lives mask But still looks pretty cool though this will be a very good movie. |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 6:23pm, June 13, 2008
the mask looks awesome. what line are we talkin about?? |
 | disanti 6:24pm, June 13, 2008
That stupid line from the last entry and jason has hair. |
 | voorhees213 7:11pm, June 13, 2008
Happy Friday the 13th! Mask looks perfect, thanks again Brad! |
 | voorhees213 7:16pm, June 13, 2008
1 thought: how does Jason get his mask in this one? Will there be another "Shelly", or are we going to see something more like RZ's Halloween(where he had it as a kid?), or will he just wear it without explanation? |
 | Pat34 7:40pm, June 13, 2008
Guys the mask looks great. The clip from MTV news is awesome! I can't wait for a Fangoria magazine issue with on-set photos and interviews and everything! |
 | Superbeast 7:42pm, June 13, 2008
The Mask is absolutely perfect! I am so happy to be excited about a NEW Friday the 13th. At first I had my reservations about this film, but from the blogs to the new mask, I am genuinely stoked about this movie. |
 | shattered68 8:06pm, June 13, 2008
I am moist! |
 | dem13 10:26pm, June 13, 2008
i'm pretty sure Nispel is going to give us a good horror movie...He brought back good horror with TCM, so this one is gonna leave a trace.... |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 10:28pm, June 13, 2008
when jason has a hockey mask and the movie is actually has friday the 13th in the name he should not have hair |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 10:32pm, June 13, 2008
hockey mask + Hair = JGTH, Jason X ,F V J= all CRAP
Original F 13 No hair on young Jason.he let him self go in part 2, but he realized to stalk drugged out sex crazed teens you must be aero-dynamic |
 | Spymunk 11:24pm, June 13, 2008
The mask looks terrific, Brad. I have to say the last few details I've been reading have given me more confidence this might be a good movie. Visually, at least, the movie seems to be following the style of FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI: JASON LIVES, and I'm pleased with that, because that movie was the strongest of the series in terms of its visuals and style and technique. The on-set video on MTV.COM was good to see. I do wish Jared were Tommy Jarvis, but I'll take what I can get and Jared looks absolutely great in the video. Yummah! |
 | foofighter24 12:18am, June 14, 2008
Well, they can't ruin Jason any worse than they ruined Leatherface. There are plenty of fan made masks that look just like that available for a few bucks, why are they hauling it around like it is TNT? |
 | Protecious 1:46am, June 14, 2008
fuck yeah, mask rules, looks just like the one from the classics...the sign was cool too, cant wait to f'n see it!
|
 | disanti 2:04am, June 14, 2008
I wasn't suggesting it...it's confirmed that Jason has hair in this movie. His looks is a mix between parts 2 and 4 from what I read. So sorry dude...you're gonna have to deal with that. But...we still have to wait and see. Those cases are usually used for hauling hard drives/equiptment around so they probably just modified to fit the mask. It's more for keeping the mask safe from damage and (more importantly) stolen. On another not...I want to see a pic of Jason soooooooooooo bad. |
 | BellPepper 2:26am, June 14, 2008
This mask is fucking awesome! |
 | francesco 3:13am, June 14, 2008
great mask. i can't wait till 2009. holy shit! |
 | HorrorFan1978 10:53am, June 14, 2008
Great mask, now I can't wait to see the hood Mr.D. was talking about.....and yes, I'll be checking Fangoria for a big article on this movie too. |
 | CampBlood1980 11:43am, June 14, 2008
The mask looks good....Sorta a dirtied up version of 3 & 4's mask. Sorry Spymunk I have to disagree with you on one thing....I hope this movie doesn't have the Part VI Jason Lives style, it was pretty campy. I know that alot of people like that movie, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just don't care for it. I think Part 4 really should have been the Final Chapter. After Part 4, the whole formula changed, and they became too over the top, and they always look as if they were filmed inside a studio, even though Part 6 wasn't, it still had that look visually. I hope they don't have the fake fog in this movie. I watched TCM again the other night, and they added the fake fog in the wooded scenes. I don't know if they think it's creepy or something, but it's NOT! Watch parts 1-4, and the only time you see any fog at all is Part 4 when Sam gets killed in the raft. Just my opinion....The mask looks great, the sign is great cause it's the original Part 1 sign, but it sucks that Jason has hair!!! I do like the fact that he wears the hood/sack in this. I just hope that it has that Part 1-4 feel to it....So Brad---Hint,Hint---HARRY MANFREDINI!!!!PLEASE!!! |
 | dragoncomet00 12:17pm, June 14, 2008
They had the fog running when they were filming at the lake but it didn't look like they were-over doing it. |
 | BenVacancy 12:37pm, June 14, 2008
the mask looks amazing! |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 2:31pm, June 14, 2008
where is that confirmed?
it seems stupid cuz derek mears has the perfect shape head to be a true jason.
its like hiring Dolly Parton to play a flat chested women |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 2:33pm, June 14, 2008
you know what i havnt seen asked WHAT ABOUT THE CH CH CH SOUND is that gonna be used |
 | nightbreed_16 3:42pm, June 14, 2008
I hope the cha cha cha ha ha ha sound is in it that is what makes it friday the 13th. but sadly it is not confirmed yet. But I know it has to have some kind of jason sound. I hope they make it a creepy one. can't wait to see this movie. February 13, 2009 |
 | disanti 3:55pm, June 14, 2008
It was confirmed in an interview: http://chud.com/articles/articles/15073/1/SET-VIS IT-PREVIEW-FRIDAY-THE-13TH/Page1.html "Jason's face, meanwhile, is a strong mix of Part II's Mountain Man - he's got hair on his head" - That is courtesty of Makeaveddie bringing that to our attention. I'm skeptical too about what this will look like...but at the same time maybe it's more realistic. I mean, how could jason bic such a wierd head so perfectly? haha. If the music is similar to what they played in the mtv spot...I like it. |
 | disanti 3:56pm, June 14, 2008
Oh not added in that was that it's a mix between part 2 and 4. Hey Brad...just throw a pic up and save us the trouble! haha |
 | Halloween_Night 5:49pm, June 14, 2008
lol I agree. Whitley needs to give Jason the legendairy Ax mark at the end since shes the "next generation" Chris. |
 | Murder, INC. 6:31pm, June 14, 2008
The mask looks good but kind of fat cheeked. And having hair on Jason ALWAYS looked ridiculous and stupid. PERIOD. |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 7:24pm, June 14, 2008
no bic needed he had no hair in the original(jumps out of the lake) and there are plenty of birth defects that cause umm mongaloid features and inabilty to grow hair.
besides Jason obviously cares about what people think about his looks otherwise there would be no mask needed he has plenty of spare time to bic his jacked up skull. |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 7:27pm, June 14, 2008
maybe that coulda been an opening scene jason draggin a machete across his skull no cream blood seeping to the surface.never seeing his face just the top of his head.
or he could use Nair |
 | disanti 8:48pm, June 14, 2008
haha...so he just wanders into Crystal Lake and buys some nair at CVS. Put that one in the deleted scenes section of the dvd. |
 | HorrorFan1978 2:21pm, June 15, 2008
I think we need to realize that this is a remake (reimaging). The same story told in a different way. Like in Rob Zombie's Halloween compared to John Carpenter's...a lot of details totally different...so if Jason has hair in this..it's not gonna bother me...we've always got the original...I'm gonna enjoy this movie when it comes out. |
 | Halloween_Night 2:29pm, June 15, 2008
And Jason had hair in JGTH and Jason X. Its no big deal. |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 3:17pm, June 15, 2008
JGTH and Jason X were Abominations should never be brought up in any friday the 13th discussion.as far as any REAL Jason fan is concerned those movies dont exist.
If they want to say he is a combination of part 2 and 3 and reinvent him somewhat,oh well thats the descision they made,But for any so called friday fan to say.... He had hair in JGTH AND JASON X its no big deal is I HOPE.. THE DUMBEST THING YOU HAVE EVER SAID. |
 | disanti 3:25pm, June 15, 2008
In JGTH, JX, and FvJ he didn't have a full head of hair. He looks like one of those barbie dolls that had hair pulled out of it. In part 2 he had the hair like a metal head. I'm thinking that if his hair is full enough but not long...it has a chance of looking good. Anything else will look silly. |
 | Spymunk 8:18pm, June 15, 2008
I didn't mean that I hoped the movie would mirror the actual style of FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI: JASON LIVES. I meant that the mask and sign remind me of the look of that movie, which I did enjoy. Plotwise and stylewise, Part VI does fall on the campy side but overall it's such a fun ride of a movie and probably the most reverent toward Jason that I enjoy it very much - and the comic-booky goofiness of it is also really fun. to me. As for the head of hair, I definitely prefer bald Jason. The sight of goo-covered bad-teeth bald Jason leaping out of the water at the end of the first movie is so iconic I just can't imagine it any other way. I am hoping that Kid Jason is bald, but if Adult Jason has hair it won't be the end of the world.
One thing I do hope is that the DVD is jam-packed with extras. Hey, Brad - you ought to do something like some other DVD movies do where all the fans who do something unique or cool get to have a mention on the DVD or something!
|
 | voorhees213 8:21pm, June 15, 2008
I think SOME hair would look all right, kinda like Corey Feldman @ the end of ptIV, but anything more than that could ruin the look (I keep thinking of that chick from The Strangers previews, lol). Just please, don't put a freakin' jacket on him this time. Speaking of ptIV, I was watching it on Friday and noticed something I never caught before: Jason does not kill with, or even TOUCH a machete until Trish starts whacking him with one at the end. What a difference - in FvJ he was ATTACHED to the damn thing. Last thought: I've seen many "that looks like the mask from ptVI!!" comments around. No, it doesn't. At all. The mask from VI was the beginning of the TRIANGLE above the eyes, not the CHEVRON as seen in III, IV, V ("real Jason"), & FvJ. The mask in VI is SUPPOSED to be the mask from IV, but if you ask me (this is my own theory), Tommy made that mask himself (remember,he's a mask maker), based off of his memories, which would explain the different, more streamlined look (& the damn triangle). |
 | davew7 11:00pm, June 15, 2008
The mask is CLASSIC guys..keep up the good work, i cant wait to see this film, ive been waiting for years, for a real "back to crystal lake" F13. it's long overdue, and i think MR. MEARS was a perfect pick to play "JASON" I wonder..is JASON gonna be "running" after his victims in this one?? i hope so, i remember in part 4 JASON runs after "TRISH" and just seeing that big scary masked mad man running behind her was greatly scary as hell. and much more realistic as opposed to just strolling along. and if you guys are reading this, can we get just a teaser pic of JASON?? or just more pics from the set?? anyways, i know this F13TH is gonna kick ass!! DAMN I CANT WAIT!!! |
 | nightbreed_16 1:09am, June 16, 2008
After a few days I have noticed that the hockey mask looks like a combination of Friday the 13th part 3,4,6 and FreddyvsJason. It's still a perfect mask to use in this remake. |
 | Zombie Dude 2:08am, June 16, 2008
The colour is what makes it look like the FvJ mask. I was comparing images of both masks, and this one looks a lot better. It's a deeper mask from what I can tell and I think the eye holes look a bit meaner. Still don't know about the colour though. |
 | disanti 2:55pm, June 16, 2008
If you go over the fridaythe13films.com there is a news post about the DVD. It's going to be double-disc and have a ton of extras. The machette is also iconic because that's what Aliced used in part 1 to behead Jason's mother. If he used it the whole movie it would be boring though. |
 | CampBlood1980 5:05pm, June 16, 2008
I've been checking out the close-up pic of the mask, and it's def. a Part 3/4 mask. The eyes are what gives it away. The later masks mostly had circular eye holes, and trust me....I know the Part 3 mask well-I own one! It also has the snaps/buckles on the sides towards the bottom. Great move, now as long as they get the rest of him to look good....Sweet!!! They also have the red marks on the mask right, as opposed to the later movies. I agree, the machete is iconic, but Jason used whatever he could get his hands on at the moment. Even the machete in Freddy Vs. Jason looked more like a sword than a machete, just look at the handle on it, and you'll know what I mean. |
 | francesco 4:22am, June 17, 2008
so next it goes the poster! oh yes! |
 | disanti 6:37pm, June 17, 2008
I can't imagine seeing a poster any time soon. I really like that picture on the front of the box-set of the boy standing on the pier. That would make a really good poster. |
 | disanti 11:28am, June 18, 2008
Kinda like what I made my new avatar look like haha |
 | Spymunk 10:49pm, June 18, 2008
I can't seem to find any facts about any 2-disc release. All I see is the same one-disc bare-bones edition with no extras. Where is this supposed two-disc with extras? |
 | disanti 1:38am, June 19, 2008
http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/dvd-news-already/ There ya go. |
 | disanti 8:49pm, June 19, 2008
I posted this on a news message board but we should start this up here. Robert Englund as Crazy Ralph...too perfect? |
 | CrazyDENNIS 12:19am, June 20, 2008
That Would Be Crazy Perfect!! |
 | Zombie Dude 2:11am, June 20, 2008
Best idea ever disanti! |
 | francesco 5:40am, June 23, 2008
is it true we will see a trailer at the next comic con on july? |
 | Zombie Dude 6:30am, June 23, 2008
I think it's possible as all the film has been completed. It'll only be a rough one, or a teaser I'm guessing. |
 | disanti 3:02pm, June 23, 2008
I doubt they can put a trailer together that fast. If they do, that's impressive. Everything has to be color corrected, filters need to be decided on, and I'm sure some type of matte painting has to be done to some of the shots. If anything, maybe they will reveal a press shot of Jason or something. I'm still sticking by that we won't see a trailer till Halloween. |
 | Zombie Dude 2:24am, June 24, 2008
I'm hoping Jason doesn't stick to his machete too much. The more weapons he uses the better. The machete gets old if it's used consistently.
Hoping to hear some more news soon. |
 | CampBlood1980 4:24pm, June 24, 2008
I agree, I think he should use an axe, a pitchfork, hell even a corkscrew like he did in The Final Chapter. But I read that he wears a machete holster in this, and that sounds like the machete will be attatched to him. I never understood in Part 6 Jason Lives, he was wearing a utility belt....what the hell is he? Batman? I have one more question to ponder about this movie....If Jason is wearing the sack/hood in this, and then he gets the hockey mask....shouldn't the hockey mask be pretty new, like in Part 3? Why would it be dirty like it is. I really don't know, the MTV clip kinda disappointed me. The house or shack they show in it looks pretty fake. Nothing realistic looking like the one from Part 2. It looks like it was freshly built. I just have a weird feeling about this movie, sorry guys. |
 | disanti 6:19pm, June 24, 2008
Eh, I'm still waiting for another post. I'm tired of trying to piece together answers from the scraps we have gotten so far. UPDATES PLEEAASSEE!!! |
 | makaveddie81 9:39pm, June 24, 2008
I totally agree with you CampBlood. In part 2, it was clearly a shack made of scrap, whereas in the MTV clip, it looks like a brand new house with matching colors.
Also, its weird how the mask has an old, weathered look but the holes are perfectly round with no kinks whatsoever and the straps are super clean, which gives the mask a fake look.
Speaking of fake, I also agree with the fake look the MTV clip has, it reminds me of the FVJ look. However, this can all change once they add color correction and filters and whatnot. |
 | disanti 12:22am, June 25, 2008
I don't think that is supposed to be Jason's house. I think that shack is supposed to be a part of Camp Crystal Lake. I think the mask looks good and I'm not to worried that it's not brand new out of the wrapper clean. That would look even wierder. The MTV clips are nothing to define the movie by either. With the combo of Pearl and Nispel, this movie will have a more artistic approach to how it is shot rather than the straigh forward shooting of Ronny Yu. Once again, there's is not much to support any of our theorie.....more info is needed!!! |
 | Zombie Dude 2:01am, June 25, 2008
I agree disanti; I thought the shack in the MTV clip is just one of the rundown cabins. |
 | grennay 4:56pm, June 25, 2008
COMPLETE BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!
This is the worst production company in the history of the world. Why dont you get a fucking clue and think of your own shit. Quit ruining classics, all of your re-makes blew ass SO QUIT FUCKING MAKING THEM. Is it really that hard to think of your own ideas, I mean I guess it is. I know in college we had scriptwriting classes that I believe we all wrote original ideas for, so it really cant be that hard. Doing re-makes is the lowest form of scum and thats all you fucking make so what does that make you? You make me fucking sick and its sad that there are people actually excited for this piece of shit. I havent even gotten started about Nightmare. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! It is people like you that are truly ruining cinema. |
 | disanti 6:18pm, June 25, 2008
You are about 9 blogs too late for the complaining section. No one gives a shit and we are all excited that Friday the 13th is returning to the screen. Re-makes are fun. The first 11 Friday movies are not erased from history...you can watch then any time you want. Same goes for all the others. It's cool to see someone elses perspective on ideas. You don't want to see it, then fine. You are barking up the wrong tree here though. We all want to see this movie bad. |
 | voorhees213 7:14pm, June 25, 2008
hey grennay, take a fucking hike |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 11:11pm, June 25, 2008
they have jason ductaping a girl and taking her prisoner JASON DOES not take prisoners.after seeing the mask i was excited but the more i here about whats goin on the more i am concerned |
 | Zombie Dude 1:31am, June 26, 2008
Don't forget Jason supposedly duck-tapes his prisoner up (their mouth at least) before taking them to his shack. |
 | disanti 12:08pm, June 26, 2008
Jason is supposed to be more intelligent in this movie. It might be nice not having him as a bumbling idiot who stumbles around the woods. That image from when he takes the mask off in part 3 just reminded me of sloth. At that point he lost some of his intimiadtion factor cause I just kept thining "Baby Ruth!" From what I've read he is a little more focused and crafty while on the hunt. He features are more crude but he's also a real mountain man from living off the land. You've got to have at least a few working brain cells in your head to live on your own, in the woods, for all those years with no help. This will change things...for better or worse I don't know yet. But it's interesting. Yea, a smarter Jason would be smart enough to duct tape a victim. Hell, maybe thsoe cabins look so good because he's duct taped the whole camp. I mean c'mon, with his new found intelligence he must know that if you can't duct it...fuck it. |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 10:57pm, June 26, 2008
actually killing them immediatly shows more intellegence then taking a prisoner who could somehow get away and get you caught.i mean jesus austin powers even made fun of that old bumble fuck by bad guys by not killing their victim immediatly. sounds more like leatherfaces M O. and it doesnt take intellegence to survive in the wilderness it takes Animal instict which is what i believe Jason was an ANIMAL. |
 | disanti 1:46pm, June 27, 2008
True, but hopefully it's tied into the storyline some how. He takes a girl prisioner for some reason, who knows? On a side note I watched The Hitcher again the other night...and Kyle Davis is an idiot. As soon as he opened his mouth I just shooked my head. If would have been funnier if he didn't say anything and just sat there crossed with that farmers tan. He's going to be a low point in this movie. |
 | Zombie Dude 8:39pm, June 27, 2008
The only reason I can think of for why Jason would take a prisoner, is for bait. They said he'd be a lot smarter in this, so it would make sense. |
 | voorhees213 8:53pm, June 27, 2008
I like the "bait" angle, I'm very interested... |
 | francesco 12:25pm, June 28, 2008
rumors said they'll show the first teaser trailer at the next comic-con! wow! |
 | Zombie Dude 8:12pm, June 28, 2008
When's the next comic-con? |
 | voorhees213 9:07pm, June 28, 2008
I think it's at the end of July. |
 | disanti 9:08pm, June 28, 2008
Where did you hear that rumor? I'd love to finally see something more. Comic-con is in July from the 24th-27th. I thought it was earlier than that, so maybe they do have the time to pump something out. It'd be nice to see another post sometime soon as well. |
 | Zombie Dude 10:50pm, June 28, 2008
This is where I saw the rumor:
http://fridaythe13thfilms.com/blog/teaser-trailer-t o-debut-at-comic-con/
|
 | disanti 1:52pm, June 30, 2008
This guy needs to post something soon because I am bored as hell at work. So it's cool that it is comfirmed that there will be a teaser in less than a month. I just hope they don't keep it in lock down after comic-con. Do you think that Brad will post it here after the comic-con weekend? Hopefully G4 will cover the trailer in there broadcasts. |
 | Spymunk 1:04am, July 1, 2008
Disanti, my guess is that they'll put a link here - it seems to be the top place to get new news.
|
 | Zombie Dude 12:25am, July 6, 2008
So..how about an update? I don't care what it is, I just need something new. Small updates are good. |
 | CampBlood1980 3:00pm, July 6, 2008
Ok....since there hasn't been any updates for a while, I want to take this time and opportunity to plead my case about the music/score for this film. It is so important for them to use the score from Parts 1-4. The music is just as iconic as the machete, or hockey mask in my opinion. I watch sooo many movies that have potential to be great, but the score is ordinary, and sounds like every other horror movie out there. Even if they incorporated the original score into an updated mix. If they really are wanting to stay true to the originals, then Harry Manfredini's score MUST BE IN THE FILM!!!! His score would instantly set the tone for the movie! Watch the very beginning of Part 4: The Final Chapter....Now tell me it wouldn't give you chills to hear that same music in this film? Anybody else that thinks how important the original score is....Let's voice our thoughts & hopefully Mr. Fuller reads this, and takes it into consideration. In the Friday series....when thay started to stray away from the original score is when the movies were terrible. Who else is with me on this???? |

Hey brad,
Im Nick, i run a fan site called Tara Reid World
here is our petition to you:

|
 | makaveddie81 11:49pm, July 6, 2008
CampBlood1980:
I wouldnt hold my breath. I think the whole "staying true to the originals" statement is done to please the fans. If they were REALLY staying true to the originals, then:
1. Jason's attire would consist of grey pants, green workshirt and black shoes, instead of this military jacket/combat boots/hunchback/hair look theyre giving us.
2. The underground tunnels would be nonexistent. Jason's knowledge of the woods allows him to catch up to his victims, plain and simple.
3. Jason wouldnt be kidnapping people.
|
 | CampBlood1980 1:51pm, July 7, 2008
Yeah, that's true....The whole underground tunnels thing is so unbelievable! Jason should know the woods better than anyone, which thats how he catches his victims. I really hope they don't show him walking off with his victims....it reminds me of Michael Myers in RZ's Halloween when he's carrying Lorie....sooo CHEEZY!!! Jason should be wearing the grey/khaki pants with a green button shirt. I know that people have said that Marcus Nispel will shoot the movie great style....BUT, you can have the best director in the world, but if the story sucks, and the script sucks, then the movie will suck! The hunchback I'm not really worried about, cause it could be like Part 3's Jason, his head & shoulder mold gave him a little bit of a hunchback. (Which by the way Richard Brooker is my fav. Jason.)I just really hope that the music that was on the MTV clip is NOT the music for this movie. It reminded me of music from the last couple of movies JGTH,JX,FVJ. Why wouldn't they keep the original score? Imagine how much shit Rob Zombie would've got if he did keep the original Halloween score. I hope I don't get the same feeling after watching this, as I did after watching Halloween....I was scratching my head thinking WTF was that mess of a movie?haha |
 | disanti 3:14pm, July 7, 2008
Between New Line and Paramount someone has got to own the original score. That being said, Manfrendini would be a want but not a need. Zombie got some other dude to tweak the Halloween theme and it was the only good decision he made on that whole movie. I read somewhere that we are going to hear the "ki ki ki ma ma ma" for sure so that is not to be worried about either. To me, the costume is fine. He's wearing pants, boots, and a light jacket. There is a great looking mask and a "hood" that has been praised by many reporters. Really think back to all of the previous movies and chew on this...Nispel and Pearl, that's about the best combo this seires has ever seen for director and cinematographer. Nispel with pull great acting out of the actors as he did in TCM and Pearl will deliver a great looking film. The acting core as a whole is also one of the best casts this series has ever seen. Yes, Swift and Shannon scare me. It's not the tunnels or the kidnapping. It's when they try and write "cool" dialogue. What ends up coming out is as "cool" as your parents trying to sing along to lil wayne or something. Their description of the fat kid with the cool chin beard made me cringe. Cool and chin beard do not belong together. Should be described as a TOOL with a chinbeard. But that character isn't even in the movie anymore so MAYBE that's a sign that someone has had the smarts to say..."no we have to change this." If the cast and crew were smart enough to say that a lot during the shoot, then I think it can be overcome....except for Kyle Davis. |
 | makaveddie81 9:51pm, July 7, 2008
"you can have the best director in the world, but if the story sucks, and the script sucks, then the movie will suck!"
CampBlood1908: My thoughts exactly. My main concern with this film has been the writers from the get go.
"It's when they try and write "cool" dialogue. What ends up coming out is as "cool" as your parents trying to sing along to lil wayne or something."
Disanti: Couldnt have said it better myself. S&S try so hard to be funny and cool that it totally backfires on them. Fuller praising these jokers for their "hilarious" line is a cause for concern, since we dont know what other "jokes" these jackasses have up their sleeve. The fact that Fuller kees emphasizing comedy on damn near all of his updates raises a red flag IMO. |
 | makaveddie81 9:55pm, July 7, 2008
I really hope they dont show Jason walking off with his victims inside a tunnel, that would be too Leatherface-ish for me. |
 | disanti 12:46am, July 8, 2008
Thinking about it...how the hell did Shannon and Swift get to write two of this serie's most important movies? FvJ and the re-make. Before this they haven't done shit. That's kind of wierd. I still think the movie has a fighting chance. Hopefully I can make it down to comic-con on that Sunday. If anyone of us go, we need to come back with as much info as possible. |
 | Zombie Dude 3:22am, July 8, 2008
Don't forget, they are meant to be writing the Nightmare remake too. |
 | makaveddie81 4:19am, July 8, 2008
I will definitively be at comic-con on Sunday July 27. I wish I knew the answer to that disanti. Their work for FVJ sucked no matter how you slice it, and now they get the opportunity to write remakes for the most important horror franchises ever? Seriously, if these guys fail with this new Friday, I hope they stay far away from the Nightmare remake. |
 | Spymunk 9:58am, July 8, 2008
There's an easy answer to that: self-promotion. They're good at it. I just wish they could write as well as they promote themselves. Right-place/right-time probably factors in, too: New Line had been trying to get F/J off the ground for so long that when it happened it was probably a matter of "Don't TOUCH -ANYTHING-! We've got a greenlight! GO! GO! GO!" You're all right in that the constant talk of humor and lightheartedness and fun really bothers me. I basically wrote note after note in here begging Brad Fuller to address all this, and to promise us this would not be a campny joke-a-thon, and so far all I've heard back is silence - and the promise of more jokes. It's not MY movie. It's theirs. But I think the fan response on these message boards is pretty consistent. We don't mind jokes, but we're not asking for jokes. We're asking for something with the tone of Part 2-4. |
 | CampBlood1980 2:49pm, July 8, 2008
Disanti, my stomach is still hurting from laughing so damn hard at your comments about lil Wayne, and a Tool with a chinbeard. Good one! |
 | disanti 3:15pm, July 8, 2008
If you keep calling me funny they might ask me to write the sequel...keep it up haha. I will say tht S&S did have a good concept for FvJ. They brought their stories together in a way that made sense. It was the dialogue, the acting, and the directing that pulled the movie down in the end. Everything was about having the quick one liner and it wasn't about anything dark. That's why I keep saying the Cast and the Director can at least make this better than FvJ by a long shot. Hopefully they keep the mood light during just scenes with the kids. I see what Brad was saying that in previous movies his characters have not been able to even enjoy themselves yet before they realized they were fucked. The whole point of a Friday the 13th movie is that everyone is having a good time until they realized there is something wrong at the last minute. Perfect example is Teddy in IV. Watchin a porno one minute, the next he's got a knife in the back of his head. That's lighthearted humor I can enjoy. |
 | CampBlood1980 3:35pm, July 8, 2008
"So you wanna give the ole Teddy Bear a kiss?" I've seen that movie a 1000 times & still laugh at that part! |
 | voorhees213 4:45pm, July 8, 2008
"Hey Ted, where's the corkscrew?!!" Oh, & Jimmy's dance, just classic!
|
 | disanti 5:40pm, July 8, 2008
Exactly. |
 | disanti 3:54pm, July 10, 2008
A couple of people in the forums got a small idea going. We've all been waiting for uncut/unrated versions of the originals for years right? Maybe it's possible to get a push to get those released in celebration of the release of the re-make. A petition might start up, figured I'd give some of you guys a heads up. |
 | voorhees213 5:21pm, July 10, 2008
Let me know where to find it, i'll sign in a heartbeat. Great idea. |
 | Madgoalie 3:28am, July 12, 2008
I agree 100%. Spot on.
And don't try to fool us like you did with the Amityville Horror and use some of the original music in the trailer and not in the movie.
|
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 6:43pm, July 12, 2008
the music from 1 - 4 is great they shoulda never went away from it |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 6:47pm, July 12, 2008
it really set the tone and mood for the movies.Like halloween did with its music |
 | disanti 7:38pm, July 12, 2008
I don't think pleading your case now is going to do much good. They probably all ready have someone lined up to do the score...we just don't know who it is yet. Manfrendini would be a nice throw back, but there are plenty of composers out there that could do a fine job. If what we heard in that MTV piece was a preview...that's sounds pretty good. |
 | a2theriv 8:47pm, July 14, 2008
how do u guys know that the new jason is gonna have long hair and a machete holder??? anyone got pix? i'd like to see them! |
 | Zombie Dude 7:58am, July 15, 2008
No pictures of Jason have been revealed, but some on set interviews floating around on the web have described Jason's basic appearance. |
 | a2theriv 8:17pm, July 15, 2008
ohh, 4 real. where can i find these? youtube?? |
 | disanti 8:52pm, July 15, 2008
Actually if you just look at some of the previous posts you will see that some links have been put up. Look in the previous two blog posts as well. A picture of Jason might come out soon...but I didn't hear any promises. All we know is that he does have hair and I believe he does have a machet holder. If you go to fridaythe13thfilms.com they have a who news section on his look. |
 | Zombie Dude 6:25am, July 16, 2008
Now long now before the ComicCon. I look forward to seeing this teaser. |
 | a2theriv 7:18pm, July 16, 2008
hair on jason isnt really traditional, but it makes sense. i mean, really...how does a mountain man shave his head anyway? cant say i'm feelin the machete holder though. i mean, its jason. we're not talkin sum tactical metal gear solid soldier here. and if he is 'intelligent' in this new movie, why wouldnt he have a concience? ...unless they're goin for what rob z did in the new halloween. ya know, the whole notion of 'cant comprehend mercy because he was made of the perfect allignment positives and negatives'... but wheres the originality in that??? |
 | a2theriv 8:21pm, July 16, 2008
ok. i just read the 'rambo/jason' article. sounds fuckin awesome! its seems like they're really gonna betray him as a wilderness-hunter/gatherer in this movie. and a very much alive jason as well, instead of the super-zombie hulkish body builder jason. its makes alot more sense. u can have a retard that has been able to survive in the wilderness. a colder and more calculating hunter type jason makes alot more sense and will be alot more scarier to have a jason that know how to sneak up on some one in a hunting-like manner, rather than the cliche 'up in your face undead jason' the new jason seems very promising and i like it alot. thanks DISANTI. that info makes me very excited and alot less skeptical about this new movie! |
 | disanti 2:20am, July 17, 2008
Well it's been a group effort in these posts to help everyone catch up. Did you watch the MTV update at the top of the page? That's got a pretty cool look into it and a preview of what might be the soundtrack. Whatever the final answers end up being at least this is a new look on the series that doesn't involve him turning into a demon slug, going to space, or any of that crap. He's back home at crystal lake and he's human again, that's all i care about. It can't be any worse than everything after part 6. |
 | Zombie Dude 3:12am, July 17, 2008
It's about time Jason got back to Crystal Lake. So hows the petition going disanti? Anyone gotten back to you yet? |
 | disanti 12:28pm, July 17, 2008
Actually no haha. On top of that I have been burried in work. When I get some free moments I'll try and get back on that horse by tomorrow or early next week. You got time to do some research and e-mail a few websites? |
 | disanti 8:49pm, July 17, 2008
Hey, you guys check out the pic of jason on BD? I take back what i said before...the jacket might be a little too big for his frame. Is he even wearing a shirt in that pic? haha |
 | makaveddie81 12:22am, July 18, 2008
Sigh... Judging by the pic, the film might have that fake FVJ look (especially with the excess fog/mist, which was visible in the first pic of Fuller and form as well). Also, Jason looks too similar to FVJ Jason (due to the undershirt and oversized jacket). Come to think of it, if I had no prior knowledge of this film, I would have thought it was a pic from FVJ. I am seriously hoping this is some kind of joke. As I've mentioned before, my expectations for this film are lowered everytime something is leaked, and this is no exception. |
 | Zombie Dude 2:11am, July 18, 2008
What do you need me to do disanti? I should be able to get it done tonight.
Ps. Jason looks iffy in the new pic. |
 | francesco 6:20am, July 18, 2008
it's time to start to think abouy the nightmare remake. I wanna be sure to get freddy out next 2010.
p.s. I like the picture of the new Jason. even if he's so far! |
 | Zombie Dude 9:09am, July 18, 2008
I was reading through an interview with Michael Bat and he said that they haven't made a deal yet, so it's not 100% at the moment. I still look forward to it if it happens. |
 | disanti 12:26pm, July 18, 2008
Just e-mail some horror/movie website asking for support and to see if they will carry a petition. Next week I should be done with my stuff at work. We've had a bunch of things I've had to shoot up against blue screens and light boxes for some commercials so I have not been at my comp much. |
 | disanti 12:30pm, July 18, 2008
I don't think he'll look like the FvJ still, just because he'll be faster and more agile in the way he moves. Not to mention he won't have the burnt q-tip head either. This pick almost looks like hoax and it's too small to call anything 100%. It does look questionable, but I'm not giving up on it yet. Plus this doesn't look like a still from the movie either. This just looks like a pic from on set which would explain some of th shitty quality and bad angle. No way would a good film maker let that patch of smoke on the right hand corner just be floating around like that. The fog behind him makes sense, the stuff trailing off is too thin to be in the shot. |
 | disanti 2:33pm, July 18, 2008
here...i did a little post-production work on Jason haha. I wish he looked more like this to tell you ther truth.
http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/forums/photoplog/images/ 37694/medium/1_jasonfix.jpg |
 | disanti 2:34pm, July 18, 2008
make sur eyou delete the space between the / and the 3 |
 | Zombie Dude 7:23pm, July 18, 2008
I'm pretty sure he's not shirtless. He's just wearing a white dirty t-shirt that happens to look like skin. That's what I'm guessing.
Ps. I'll start emailing some sites then. If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a job? |
 | disanti 11:32pm, July 18, 2008
http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=7022
Write now I'm a production assistant at a post production company. I'm in line to bump up to an editing assistant soon, but I've also been doing photography for the company and location scouting. We mostly do commercials and touch up work on features. My roomates work at big production houses as well so we share info from the different studio work we get. |
 | Zombie Dude 1:22am, July 19, 2008
BD has the high res pic too. Jason actually doesn't look too bad. Sweet job disanti, do you enjoy it? I myself am looking into getting a film/media career. Guess I'll have to see what happens. |
 | disanti 2:28am, July 19, 2008
It's just cool being around people who know so much about movies. It's a great work environment...not to mention everyone drinks like a fish. Yea I saw they posted it, that's sick. I def feel better about the look seeing him close up. The hood on the jacket a little much, but it looked a lot worse on that shitty mini pic they released at first. |
 | Zombie Dude 4:46am, July 19, 2008
Is that a hood on the jacket? I thought it might have been a large collar (like on shirts). |
 | disanti 12:40pm, July 19, 2008
If that's a collar it's really fucked up looking. |
 | Zombie Dude 8:45pm, July 19, 2008
I think it might be. It really doesn't look like a hood. |
 | disanti 1:15am, July 21, 2008
Well whatever. I still would have rather seen him decked out in dickies...or even a candian tuxedo for that matter. Maybe throw on a motley crue shirt for good measure...that would be hilarious. |
 | Zombie Dude 2:25am, July 21, 2008
He does seem to fill out his t-shirt pretty well.
|
 | disanti 7:01pm, July 21, 2008
I think it's really going to depend on how he moves that really sells his look one way or the other. FvJ he moved like a dumbass which added to his dumb look...maybe Mears will wear the character and costume well enough to get past any negative feedback some have given the look. |
 | Zombie Dude 2:18am, July 22, 2008
We may see him running in this, as he is human again. |
 | MrsKrueger 2:44am, July 22, 2008
I like seriously can't believe you guys redid this movie. and especially without Kane or Ken. I'm severely disappointed. |
 | disanti 2:53am, July 22, 2008
See that's funny to most of us because they both acted in the worst installments of the series. Kane is old and to bulky to play Jason anymore while Ken makes him look like, well....a big fuckin pussy. I'm pretty confident Mears will give him the size and inensity he's been lacking for a while. Now if he would just do my OCD a favor and cut off that stupid collar. |
 | voorhees213 4:44am, July 22, 2008
Wow, if they swapped that bulky jacket for a dark green shirt, he would look perfect - but that's just me, I love the III-IV look. It's too bad, it looks way too much like FvJ. Which brings up a question (I do not work in movies, so I plead ignorance here): is it just coincidence that in the 2 F13 movies Shannon & Swift have written, Jason wears a jacket? I mean, if you look at photos of "remake" Jason next to FvJ Jason, they look VERY similar, with the only common denominator between the 2 being the writing team (&, I guess, Sean Cunningham, but he himself said he's never seen ANY of the sequels, so I hope he doesn't have too much input as far as Jason's look goes). In short, who decides Jason's look: FX team, wardrobe, producers, writers, director, who? ? Thanks |
 | disanti 11:35am, July 22, 2008
There is a specific design team that is put together to come up with the look of Jason. Shannon and Swift may hint at a certain look in their script, but in the end it is up to the designer. All of the final decisions are usually approve by the Director and sometimes Producers as well. If everyone comes out of the movie hating his look in the end, you can call it a team effort with failure. Like I said before though, don't let the jacket be the downfall. If Mears sells the character well, you won't really care about the jacet. The thing I hate more about FvJ is that Jason was meant to me simpathetic. If was more in the puppy dog eye, frankenstein slow walk, and goofy movments that ruined it for me. You could have dressed Ken up in the perfect Jason set up and he still played the character bad. |
 | voorhees213 7:08pm, July 22, 2008
Thank you! |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 9:20pm, July 22, 2008
fridaythe13thfilms.com has up close action shots of the new jason he looks like part 3 jason except for the blonde mullet . |
 | disanti 9:54pm, July 22, 2008
Jason looks great in those pics except for teh blonde mullet. The jacket doesn't phase me anymore I think it looks great in the axe over the head shot. Hair looks a little too fake in the pics...but I guess we'll see how this pans out. I'm happier than I was 10 mins ago. |
 | voorhees213 3:00am, July 23, 2008
Re: new pics... now THAT'S more like it! It looks just like Mezco's stylized Jason figure (the middle photo), but, in all, he looks 10 times better than the first pic released (yup, even with the jacket). Funny thing about the hair - I don't mind it at all. I know I should, I thought I would (hell, I thought he would end up looking like the chick from The Strangers), but I think it makes more sense this way. I mean they never exactly explained how after pt II he just lost ALL of his body hair (watch pt III - he doesn't even have eyebrows!!!).
|
 | disanti 11:38am, July 23, 2008
I agree, I always wondered how he lost his hair. I guess you could say he shaved it when he went to that general store...but you can see he is bald before he even steps foot in there. Looking at the hair for a day now has given me time to get used to it...I'm not too critical of it now. Look at the pic where he is hunched over...you can tell it's not really THAT thick. It also seems like jason's movements are less awkward from previous films. He's swinging the axe while running forward like he means business. He's also Grabbing that girl like he grabbed Jarvis in IV. FvJ he made just mechanical movments...they could just put him on a stick and stuck him in the mechincal puppet show at chucky cheese. |
 | voorhees213 2:25pm, July 23, 2008
"they could just put him on a stick and stuck him in the mechincal puppet show at chucky cheese" - LOL!! |
 | CampBlood1980 3:14pm, July 23, 2008
At least Jason is using something besides the machete! Jason's look is what it is. Derek Mears movements is what's gonna sell this. Still not crazy about the coat, but I'll take a human Jason anyday. |
 | disanti 10:24pm, July 23, 2008
If you're feeling pouty about the look think of this. If you were a mongoloid mountain man who lived in the woods and killed people...what would you wear? Really, the outfit makes sense. Even summer nights in the Northeast are cold. I hope this is still supposed to be set in the NE anyway. If paramount wasn't just tossing these movies out in the 80'sfor quick cash, maybe someone would have thought to put as much thought into his look as PD did. Jason has never looked the same ever. I just hope when they make a sequel they just stick to their design and give Jason some continuity for once. |
 | voorhees213 12:00pm, July 24, 2008
WB & New Line pulled the new Jason pics today. |
 | voorhees213 12:07pm, July 24, 2008
Nevermind...they pulled them from fridaythe13thfilms.com, but thy're still ALL OVER the web. |
 | disanti 12:12pm, July 24, 2008

 | Zombie Dude 1:28am, July 27, 2008

You know... you guys really do make movies better then the original. Not a Jason fan myself but I'm sure your going to reinvent it and make it better then the original just like TCM:TB! |
 | billjones 10:41am, September 7, 2008
its going to be Great The only thing thats sucks about this movie is i cant be in it what the makers of some of the new remakes need to do is maybe hear the fans out and i'm speaking for my self i should be in this movie i am the biggest fan of Jason V. iv been Jason V. every Halloween and on Friday the 13th since i was in 2nd Grade i'm 31 now you do the math NOONE has been Jason longer then i have that i know of i could be wrong but i dont think i am ? I'm tired of writing Mr.Bay and everyone else because they never get back to the fans i know i will love this movie thats what i do i should be in this movie and to all the people that are in this movie i hope one day in your life your heart will fill with hate and sadness as i have in mine, My movies. billjones!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

 | g1ng3rsnap9ed 2:17pm, February 1, 2009
Okay, I have a LOT to get off of me chest with you greedy, money-hungry bastards.
I made this account specifically for the occasion.
First off, haven't you prematurely ended enough Horror franchises TCM, F13, and now A Nightmare On Elm Street?
Not only this, but Robert Englund will not be replaying Freddy!!? If you remake ANOES, that is one thing, but
an actor other than Robert Englund playing Freddy Krueger!!? That is downright blasphemous!!!
There is no need for the original Nightmare to be remade, it has aged elegantly, and holds up
even to today's standards. (Which actually are quite low, due to talentless hacks like you.)
However, since for whatever reason you feel the urge to do so, ($$$) just give the fans
Robert Englund as Freddy. If not as Freddy, give him at least ten minutes of screen time in a
cameo or whatever. If not, then I swear to God that I will start the greatest cinematic boycott ever known against your film. Me and my friends will do whatever we can in our power to prevent your films from making money, boycotts, posting spoilers in the anticipation Threads on theinternet, anything that can possibly take that extra 8 bucks away from you. So please, for the love of the fans, (And for your love of money.) let Robert Englund play Freddy.
