Take a trip with me to Camp Crystal Lake...
2:05pm, June 11, 2008

Greetings from Camp Crystal Lake. I told you I would try and leak out a photo now and then, so here is a sneak peak at the Camp Crystal Lake sign! (Click the image to see it larger)

We deliberated for a long time about what that sign would look like cause we wanted it to be really creepy. The photo was shot on set in Bastrop, Texas, where for the next couple of days we are shooting a couple of death scenes. One is an homage to one of my favorite kills and the other involves a machete, someone's skull and third degree burns. These are very important kills as I have Guy Stodel from New Line and Dan Levine from Paramount here just to make sure. Talk about pressure!

For the role of Donnie in the film, we brought back an actor who we loved in The Hitcher- Kyle Davis. He was so hilarious as the clerk in the convenience store we asked screenwriters Shannon and Swift to write a role for him. Kyle was great and always comes up with some hilarious lines. This week's gem was,"Came this close to hitting the start button on the wup ass machine Boy!" You will laugh your ass off at him.

We are entering the final week of the film here and Friday, June 13th is coming soon... what a night on set that will be... stay tuned!!!

Weapon_X 3:01pm, June 11, 2008

Thanks dude. I appreciate the update. Sign looks great, excited to hear Kyle Davis improv. That's awesome that you're letting actors improv, cause the best dialogue comes out of that.

Pat34 6:03pm, June 11, 2008

WHOA! That is really cool. It looks almost identical to the original Part 1 sign. Great job guys.

voorhees213 8:02pm, June 11, 2008

love it, love it, love it! Thanx 4 the update Brad!

Thac 8:24pm, June 11, 2008

We've got faith in ya. I know these writers are gonna stay true to what's already out there...he's still out there... -Dave

makaveddie81 9:01pm, June 11, 2008

GREAT MORE COMEDY... I THOUGHT THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A HORROR FILM??? THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BE SO LAME

disanti 10:19pm, June 11, 2008

The sign looks spot on. Nothing wrong with some side characters having some humor. How about a crazy Raplh?

Spymunk 10:27pm, June 11, 2008

I love it, actually. I know I've been concerned about this movie being too silly and not serious enough, but that line of dialogue is pure FRIDAY THE 13TH in every way. Regardless of how serious I want the tone of the movie to be, every movie from Part 1 on has had lines like that in them, whether they were improved or in the original scripts. Kyle Davis in this movie. That's cool. I also really like the sign - it's perfect and it reminds me of some of the great sets from FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI in terms of the tone of the picture. This hasn't calmed all my concerns, but it has certainly been a good day in the story of the making of this movie as far as I'm concerned.

dem13 11:08pm, June 11, 2008

Thanks Brad!!! it looks a lot like the original from part 1. i hope Jason uses an ax on some of the kills.

dem13 1:08am, June 12, 2008

let's see how far does the mpaa, let them show the gore...

Zombie Dude 2:20am, June 12, 2008

Nice sign. It feels right, so that's a good sign.

francesco 3:13am, June 12, 2008

too many laught? i still trust u this is an horror movie! can't wait to know more. The sign is very similar to freddy vs jason one.

Zombie Dude 8:17am, June 12, 2008

francesco, wasn't the FvJ sign that massive Indian looking thing that we see in the flashback? Whatever the case, I think this one looks better.

francesco 12:09pm, June 12, 2008

thanks zombie dude u are right. this is far better!

disanti 2:24pm, June 12, 2008

Hey...call me crazy. What if you had a sign up for a lucky F13th Fan to win this sign (and a few other things from set). It looks great as a background on my desktop...but it'd look better on my wall.

Halloween_Night 4:25pm, June 12, 2008

Spymunk you are right about the sign that look just like part VI!

KandyMan 6:00pm, June 12, 2008

Friday 13th is my film for 2009! CANNOT WAIT! I've watched the original soooo many times while this has been filming. KM

disanti 6:16pm, June 12, 2008

The hell with just part 1, tomorrow is marathon day! I'll be watching F13th all day at work.

Ramble On 7:17pm, June 12, 2008

Hey I think all that talk (rather that one guy suggesting it) about giving me that sign sounds awesome. Haha. Or more or less doing what he said. Also... I live 2 seconds from Austin Studios... if you maybe perhaps need extra(s) for these last 2 days don't hesitate to let me know. That would be a dream come true! Oh man I'm just toooooooooo excited and this post put me over the top... sorry. I'm a jackass. Thanks for the updates, I love it!

Halloween_Night 8:42pm, June 12, 2008

You guys see what it saids when you enlarge the sign? It saids "qick jerking us around B-D show us the F-ing mask" lol, I think we'll be seeing the mask tomorrow!

no-hair-on-jason-please 9:39pm, June 12, 2008

I wanna see jason already

disanti 9:50pm, June 12, 2008

There better be something good instore for us tomorrow!

mfcmk 10:05pm, June 12, 2008

Very nice!!!!

magnaderalpha 10:19pm, June 12, 2008

That Kyle Davis line is lame! Please tone the comedy down, man. Swift and Shannon aren't any Larry David, Kevin Smith or anything. The comedic lines in Freddy Vs Jason were terrible. Freeburg's "Goalie" line made me want to pull my hair out. Kia dissin on Freddy was just as bad. VERY bad, actually. It's like they were pullin lines from that MTV show "Yo Momma". If you are going to make it a horror comedy, get someone with a REAL comedy background. If anything, pointless wannabe witty remarks of said characters tends to make them more annoying and unlikable. Horror is MADE by the likable characters. Ask Craven, Carpenter, King, Cronenberg, any of the horror masters.

disanti 10:43pm, June 12, 2008

I will agree...that lines sounds like something one of my Dad's friends would say at a Backyard BBQ. It's not funny. The only funny about him will be if Jason shoves Kyle's head right up his own ass. Now that's an original kill and funny! Call me, I'll be available to write the sequel.

Halloween_Night 11:58pm, June 12, 2008

Speaking of sequels....;) I'm writing a JASON VS. JASON X script! PLOT: After crashing into earth two's camp crystal lake in the climax of 2002's Jason X, Uber-Jason awakes from the crash and begins to wreak havoc upon the Camp. But when Uber-Jason stumbles upon a time machine that his old nemisis Rowan has set up, he is taken back four hundred years to the year 2009. Rowan goes back with him with a mission to open up the cryogenic station that she and Jason were both trapped in. Rowan succeeds and manages to release the original Jason Voorhees but ends up getting killed in the process. Jason begins to make his way to Crystal Lake unknown that a future version of himself is already there. Also a bunch of partying teens is on their way.....

disanti 1:00am, June 13, 2008

They should just turn Jason X into a cartoon and play it on adult swim. That shit would be hilarious. Every week just tune in to some rediculous plot which ends up in funny cartoon kills.

HorrorFan1978 1:21am, June 13, 2008

love the sign....can't wait to see the mask/Jason....Hope there aren't any stupid comical lines like the one in Jason X when the girl, before she is sucked out of the ship and shreaded says, "This sucks on so many levels"......Gosh I hope we see Jason on this Friday.

JASON777 1:23am, June 13, 2008

DEAR PLATINUM DUNES, PLEASE!!! do not make this movie a comedy. You can't have your characters make light of a situation when they are in danger. you will lose your audience and this will be a grand failure. It's that exact kind of crap that ruined the series in the first place. Make it dark and creepy and save the comedy for scenes that don't have anyting to do with Jason or danger. I know i'm not only speaking for myself. Watch the last 20 minutes of each of the first four films in the series and you'll see a clear guideline on how to put this film together in the editing. The last half hour of Joe Zito's "THE FINAL CHAPTER" alone is a great lesson of how a F13th film needs to be. We're all looking forward to a great film not a joke.

Zombie Dude 1:23am, June 13, 2008

So, do you think that message on the sign image mean we'll see the mask Friday? This is so exciting.

disanti 1:44am, June 13, 2008

hahah when did that get posted on the picture...that shit is way funnier than Kyle Davis.

Zombie Dude 3:01am, June 13, 2008

It couldn't have been on there long. I'm pretty sure it was normal yesterday. How long do you think it'll be before we hear something about it?

disanti 3:02am, June 13, 2008

Happy Friday the 13th from the West Coast everybody!

Zombie Dude 3:03am, June 13, 2008

Friday the 13th is nearing its end here in Australia.

Ramble On 3:36am, June 13, 2008

omgzzzz it is friday the 13th. i think i saw them still out there. just kidding... i think maybe a romantic comedy is just what this film franchise needs. think about it... like analyze this style, lets get to the root of all this killing. i smell a box office hit!

francesco 4:12am, June 13, 2008

hope so! I want to see the mask!

BenVacancy 9:54am, June 13, 2008

the sign looks fan-fucking-tastic! happy friday the 13th everyone! i'm off to watch the final chapter!

the birkhill slasher 10:31am, June 13, 2008

I hope the crazy old "you're all doomed" guy is in it.If not get him written in now.The sign just looks like the same old sign to me,which is fine i suppose.Lets see Jason now.

disanti 11:16am, June 13, 2008

Is anyone else getting the log-in screen 10 times before the site loads? Pretty dissapointed that I didn't wake up this morning to a new post of something awesome for this wonderful holiday. Guess I'll have to check all day at work.

BloodySatan 11:49am, June 13, 2008

"Came this close to hitting the start button on the wup ass machine Boy!" I hope that's not in the movie. "You will laugh your ass off at him." I don't want to laugh at a Friday The 13th movie. I want to be scared.

JLDFilms 1:50pm, June 13, 2008

THIS MASK IS HERE! THE MASK IS RIGHT HERE! INCLUDING A BEHIND THE SCENES LOOK! http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1589260&vid=2 45713

bombthreat 2:48pm, June 13, 2008

I am agree...please please please NO COMEDY. keep the tone serious. PLEASE.

Halloween_Night 3:13pm, June 13, 2008

The set looks great and the music is SCARY I hope thats the music we'll hear in the film. I'm happy they making an old school Friday, one we havn't seen since Final Chapter! And the Mask look just like the final chapter, its a little bit dirtier. Its pretty cool!

Halloween_Night 3:22pm, June 13, 2008

And why the hell are all the sites being forced to hold all the set reports for? And how long will they have to hold them?

HorrorFan1978 3:23pm, June 13, 2008

Ramble On, A romantic comedy???!!! If I wanted to see a romantic comedy I'd watch a chic flick.....not a Friday the 13th film......Please make this one Scary!

HorrorFan1978 3:34pm, June 13, 2008

The Mask looks awesome...Thank you so much JLDFilms and MTV.com......Happy FT13

disanti 4:16pm, June 13, 2008

That was AWESOME! Mask is Great!!!! I can't wait to see this movie!!!! Thank you JLD you made my F13th!

magnaderalpha 12:49am, June 14, 2008

HorrorFan1978, I agree with you. If I wanted a chick flick with horror themes, I'd watch that teenybopper vampire movie Twilight. You wouldn't find me anywhere NEAR that fuckin movie. While campiness isn't bad, don't overdo it. Take note from the late 80s, when EVERY horror movie and it's mother jumped aboard the camp train. It got so bad that horror basically had a heart attack and had to reboot(in the mid-90s). Take note from early 80s horror, where humor was minimal and the focus was on just serious fuckin horror. Yeah, baby, gotta take it by the balls! You NEED a horror movie that will make your girl jump, scream and throw her arms around you while you sit back with a giant grin on your face. God, I miss those days.

BloodyAnneBoleyn 1:23pm, June 30, 2008

I cant wait..

philoebeddoe 10:23pm, September 7, 2008

Your ock Brad. I love the sign...and the quote. Nice work.

jprop 9:31pm, September 10, 2008

O.k. 3 times is a charm I hear. This would fit nicely as a music insert some where. http://www.myflashfetish.com/playlist/12750379 Son g just has a Friday 13th vibe to it. Has no words at the moment.

bodypuzzle 1:15am, October 1, 2008

Ummmm...yeah. That line is so fucking lame that I now feel confident in saying that PD has officially fucked yet another classic movie remake. Does Michael Bay touch ANYTHING that doesn't turn to shit? Clearly not, as evidenced by the fact that the screenplay also contains a token witty black guy. Great. That's just what Friday the 13th needs: more humor--and from a racial stereotype, nonetheless. Way to take care of the fans, guys. Can't WAIT to see what you do to Rosemary's Baby! Michael Bay sucks.

g1ng3rsnap9ed 2:17pm, February 1, 2009

Okay, I have a LOT to get off of me chest with you greedy, money-hungry bastards. I made this account specifically for the occasion. First off, haven't you prematurely ended enough Horror franchises TCM, F13, and now A Nightmare On Elm Street? Not only this, but Robert Englund will not be replaying Freddy!!? If you remake ANOES, that is one thing, but an actor other than Robert Englund playing Freddy Krueger!!? That is downright blasphemous!!! There is no need for the original Nightmare to be remade, it has aged elegantly, and holds up even to today's standards. (Which actually are quite low, due to talentless hacks like you.) However, since for whatever reason you feel the urge to do so, ($$$) just give the fans Robert Englund as Freddy. If not as Freddy, give him at least ten minutes of screen time in a cameo or whatever. If not, then I swear to God that I will start the greatest cinematic boycott ever known against your film. Me and my friends will do whatever we can in our power to prevent your films from making money, boycotts, posting spoilers in the anticipation Threads on theinternet, anything that can possibly take that extra 8 bucks away from you. So please, for the love of the fans, (And for your love of money.) let Robert Englund play Freddy. If not, then I hope that anybody and everybody and their entire families at platinum deuche (OOPS! That's not a Typo!!) rot in Hell you talentless, greedy, selfish, money-hungry low-life hacks.
