Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake! Let's get started with a picture...
7:38pm, May 12, 2008
Greetings from Crystal Lake; I have been waiting two years to say that!
Bay, Form and I decided long ago that the opportunity to remake FRIDAY THE 13TH was only worthwhile if we could do it right. Along the way to this balmy night outside Austin, Texas there is a wide swath of discarded scripts, fired actors, and wardrobe pictures that would have been the subject of endless berating amongst the online community. But through it all we remained focused on the path to attempt to produce a great horror film, worthy of its lineage. And tonight, my fourth on set, but the first that brought me face to face with Mr. Voorhees in all his glory - I can tell you without hesitation that every minute of frustration, pain and misery was worth it - really worth it, because tonight Jason Vorhees scared the shit out of me. No, he didn't threaten me with that huge machete; all he did was look into the camera and every hair on my body stood up. Derek Mears captures the best of the all the Jason's and injects the character with his own element of tangible menace.
In this movie you will see a feral, brutal Jason who is hell-bent on killing in astonishing ways. And tonight our director, Marcus Nispel, constructed a shot of Jason as he is about to strike... that is when I got scared. The shot is iconic in its construction. It's our "Batman" or "Spiderman" shot and when you see the movie you will know exactly what I am talking about. It is the single shot that tells you everything you need to know about Jason.
I so badly want to post that image right here and now, but if I did even Jason couldn't protect me from the army of lawyers and execs who would want to kill me. But here is what I will do! I am working hard to get pictures from the set and my present to you is the first ever behind-the-scenes photo from FRIDAY THE 13TH! The image shows my partner, Andrew Form and me hanging on set in front of a Crystal Lake police car in between set ups. What you are seeing is the before version of the car - the after version has considerably more blood and broken glass. But, let's start slow, get the suits used to me leaking stuff here on my blog and see how far we can take it. Sound good?
One more thing - I am working with Bloody-Disgusting on introducing you to each cast member via my video blog. So check back soon!

Awesome!!!! So,I'm guessing Company 3 is doing the work on this movie? No complaints on that. The set looks pretty dark and gloomy from what there is to be seen, can't wait for the next update. |
 | disanti 10:50pm, May 12, 2008
I don't know about anyone else, but it'd be cool to see a shot of the camp's beach and lake. |
 | Zombie Dude 2:46am, May 13, 2008
Defiantly, I'd love to see a shot of the lake.
Thanks for the update Brad.

I would be happy with a trilogy. |
 | gutmuncher 2:48pm, May 13, 2008
Decent lighting, still cant judge much off that shot. Looks good, cant wait to see more. |
 | jasonlives1986 3:05pm, May 13, 2008
looks visually like F v J
im glad that it doesnt visually look like TCM, thank god. |
 | CampBlood1980 5:13pm, May 13, 2008
I hope to god it doesn't look anything like F v J visually. F v J looked fake as hell, like it was filmed inside a studio, just add the fake fog. You really can't judge anything from a photo, cause the coloring & lensing will be totally different with the actual camera shooting the movie. Hopefully it's DARK, like the first 2 were. |
 | Pat34 5:16pm, May 13, 2008
COOL! Sounds and looks great already. Can't wait to hear more! |
 | rcinvb 8:07pm, May 13, 2008
Thanks for the update. I hope the writers don't have Jason afraid of water, like in FVJ. Idiotic. |
 | Cr8nkenstein 8:21pm, May 13, 2008
If this is half as good as the TCM remakes.... It's gonna rock! Hopefully we'll be seeing the new Jason soon, or atleast his new mask? |
 | magnaderalpha 9:42pm, May 13, 2008
The picture looks good. Yeah, I hope it looks more like your classic Ft13 film, with normal lighting. Moreso than the TCM remake, which that and The Beginning seemed to be under major tintage, perhaps to make it see "old" or something. Keep the look of an actual world. It makes the movie scarier! When the world looks too brownish, or too blue(just like the American version of Pulse), it looks less scary, and more fake.
Also, can't wait to see how badass Jason looks!! |
 | DannyTsk8er78 11:51pm, May 13, 2008
Sounding good! I have faith that you guys will deliver a solid remake. |
 | BenVacancy 11:29am, May 14, 2008
Looks great!! I want to see more!! |
 | Do0kie89 2:11pm, May 14, 2008

 | Face 3:14pm, May 14, 2008
I cant wait for this! All your movies have been cool don't listen to the haters.
Off Topic, I wanted to know if Platinum Dunes has and e-mail where i can send my resume to apply for a job/internship? |
 | Cynthiab 3:40pm, May 14, 2008
Thanks for this! You've got a great cast and I can't wait to meet them all through your videos -- Jared Padalecki, Aaron Yoo -- bet your all having a blast! |
 | Madgoalie 3:45pm, May 14, 2008
The picture looks great...please post some more! As long as you guys capture the tone/atomosphere and music of 1-4...i'm aboard. Looks like you're off to a great start. |

Can't Wait To See The Man! |
 | shitbuster 8:54pm, May 14, 2008
I'm sorry but HOW BIG is Camp Crystal Lake that they have there own Police force??? Totally Gay!!!! |
 | HorrorFan1978 12:20am, May 15, 2008
It says that Derek Mears captures the best of all the Jasons. I hope he moves the same way that Kane Hodder moved. Kinda like the way Jason would move his head and then move his whole body. Loved Mear's performance in THHE2. |
 | disanti 12:54am, May 15, 2008
shitbuster. The name of the town is Crystal Lake not just the camp dipshit. I think there is a sheriff in every F13th, Jason even kills them in parts 2 and 6 (Forrest Green). Have you ever watched a Friday the 13th movie before? |
 | voteskynyrd 12:22pm, May 15, 2008
inlarge the picture and look directly over the passenger side shoulder rest...
is that a ghostly image of Mr. Vorhees himself? or am I seeing things? |
 | bhayling 3:20pm, May 15, 2008
Choppin' the local Sheriff goes all the way back to the very first film, when (at the time, hidden from viewers) Mother Voorhees meets up with the Law, gets the "Hey, what brings you out on a night like this?" from the unsuspecting goober, and quicker'n you can say filet -- add one more to the body count. :-)
Ahh me, Mother Voorhees, all crazy-eyed and falsetto-voiced as she sing-songs "Kill, her, Mommy! Don't let her get away!" :-D |
 | Deaths-Rivalry 6:32pm, May 15, 2008
This movie is gonna fuckin rock!!! Jason Voorhees Lives!!! |
 | Palomita 3:01pm, May 17, 2008

 | Crwn* 2:03pm, June 3, 2008
Nice. I am pretty excited to see this guy play Jason I think he will fit the role very well. |
 | no-hair-on-jason-please 9:41pm, June 12, 2008
Music is so important i hope they capture the creepiness of the originals |
 | g1ng3rsnap9ed 2:19pm, February 1, 2009
Okay, I have a LOT to get off of me chest with you greedy, money-hungry bastards.
I made this account specifically for the occasion.
First off, haven't you prematurely ended enough Horror franchises TCM, F13, and now A Nightmare On Elm Street?
Not only this, but Robert Englund will not be replaying Freddy!!? If you remake ANOES, that is one thing, but
an actor other than Robert Englund playing Freddy Krueger!!? That is downright blasphemous!!!
There is no need for the original Nightmare to be remade, it has aged elegantly, and holds up
even to today's standards. (Which actually are quite low, due to talentless hacks like you.)
However, since for whatever reason you feel the urge to do so, ($$$) just give the fans
Robert Englund as Freddy. If not as Freddy, give him at least ten minutes of screen time in a
cameo or whatever. If not, then I swear to God that I will start the greatest cinematic boycott ever known against your film. Me and my friends will do whatever we can in our power to prevent your films from making money, boycotts, posting spoilers in the anticipation Threads on theinternet, anything that can possibly take that extra 8 bucks away from you. So please, for the love of the fans, (And for your love of money.) let Robert Englund play Freddy.
If not, then I hope that anybody and everybody and their entire families at platinum deuche (OOPS! That's not a Typo!!) rot in Hell you talentless, greedy, selfish, money-hungry low-life hacks. |
