I can now officially say that I believe in ghosts!
5:56pm, April 24, 2008
I realize that most people will think what I am about to say is total bullshit. That is fine, and I expect it, but what I am writing about tonight is based on my experience over the last few days. We are shooting The Unborn tonight at an abandoned college an hour outside of Chicago. I have been told that the property used to contain Indian effigy mounts. During the Civil War, soldiers were housed here and later it became a Catholic school where three girls died. Now it is an abandoned college that is due for demolition.
For the last 4 days we have been shooting an exorcism scene for the film in which the words that Gary Oldman chants are directly from the Old Testament. During this time, I have come to the conclusion that this place is haunted... before I came here I wasn't a believer, but over the course of this past week so many odd things have happened that I can't dismiss what is going on. When we shot here a couple of weeks ago I heard footsteps walking down the hall above where we were shooting - problem is the floor above us was sealed off and it would have been impossible for someone to gain access to that area. There also have been multiple sightings of "ghosts"... Some crew members have seen bright lights in places where there is no electricity. Another crew member told me that he saw a "torso in shadow".
The final straw was Yuriy Chernin, a set PA's who went up to the fourth floor with two other PA's (Senica Billingsley & Mike Zeller) who both claim they see unexplainable things "all the time" up there (we are only shooting on the first and second floor). The picture you are looking at was taken of Senica & Mike as they were walking the halls of the fourth floor late last night. Yuriy took the photo just as Mike (on the right) said he felt a coldness come over him as the hair stood up on his neck. They showed me the picture right after they took it, which eliminated the Photoshop option. Is it a ghost?? - you tell me.... but as I keep looking at it, and it looks more and more like hands from a torso about to grab them. There is an attic in this building (above the fourth floor) that no one on the crew has been bold enough to venture up to, yet...

STOP REMAKING CLASSIC HORROR MOVIES YOU GREEDY NO-TALENT ASSHOLES! |
 | sancho2288 3:29pm, April 28, 2008
dont mind the ignorance of some people. like the person above.
i myself could see why someone would want 2 remake horror movies...for 1. the love for the original..and 2nd to expand on a new audience who werent given the chance 2 experience the original movie when it was big.
either way...this new movie isnt a remake..and it really does look interesting.
keep up the good work brad
p.s. hope ya'll make a feature on the unborn dvd talking about the stories and wierd shit that happened while filming

Mfcmk...STOP REMAKING THE SAME POST AS OTHER WHINY IGNORANT CLOSE-MINDED SO-CALLED FANS OF HORROR AND COME UP WITH SOMETHING ORIGINAL TO COMPLAIN ABOUT!
Now then, Platinum Dunes...the one studio that can announce a remake and not have me worried that much...keep up with the awesome work, and don't listen to idiots like Mfcmk. I'm really, really looking forward to the upcoming slate of horror from you guys (particularly F13 and The Unborn), and am going to be first in line at the movie theater when they're released.
And I believe in ghosts too. My house is haunted by an 8-feet tall shadow spirit in funeral attire. I call him Ralph, just for the hell of it. We're pals now.
I'm being serious. |

First of, I would like to say that I'm a big fan of Texas Chainsaw & The Hitcher. That being said, I'm an even bigger fan of the Friday the 13th movies....well, I guess only parts 1-4. After that, the formula changed, and it was too over the top & campy. I so glad that you guys are the ones doing this movie. I've been thinking ever since the early 90's that it needed to return to it's roots. Finally, it's becoming a reality. There's only a couple of thing's I worry about...1.Jason's mask-I was really hoping for the return of the original part 3 mask. Some people think you can't tell the difference, but hardcore fans of the originals can. 2. The score, it was so important for the early films, just the score alone gives it the old Friday vibe. Oh yeah, one more thing, I hope that Camp Crystal Lake is referred to as "Camp Blood" in this one. I think Part 2 was the last movie it was used. Little details like go a long ways, especially for the ones(Like myself) that grew up on these. |

I love horror movies and I really liked what PD did with Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the Amityville Horror. The first was a perfect movie and remake, And Amityville was ALMOST as great (except for that weird ending). I'm looking forward to more great movies and can't wait to see F13 and Unborn. Its also SO incredibly refreshing that a horror movie studio would be so open to communicating with fans. Definitely a first. |

Hey if you guys want to argue with that jackass go to the first blog post. As for that picture, it's creepy but could be a product of the slow shutter speed. I mean people see Jesus in their pancakes so who knows what the light did with that picture...or a ghost. I can't say I fully believe one way or the other. But a guy killed himself in the house I grew up in and my room was where he did it. (thanks mom and dad) To this day when I go home i don't walk around without turning lights on. As a kid I used to see shadows and hear keys jingle when no one was home. The guy killed himself by running a hose from his car exhaust in the garage into his study where he suffocated himself. I never saw anything since around 1998. But wierd things happen. At least you are filming from cool sets like that. |

Can Platinum Dunes does something original and creative for a change beside those pointless remakes?? is that ever possible? |
 | JohnRyder 12:11am, April 29, 2008
Its people like you that supports remakes like Halloween, Prom Night and help make those crappy horror movies sucessful (i would say differently if at least they were good)and while great movies like The Mist and Grindhouse gets ignores at the box office....and btw before someone start bitching and whine i did like TCM remake because it was good. |

Is the guy in the right corner with the number 4 on his top meant to be there? |
 | rinko_kkchi 3:50am, April 29, 2008
when will "the horsemen" get released? |
 | Zombie Dude 6:12am, April 29, 2008
Never mind I think it's just a sign, I thought it was a top. |
 | horrorfan1988 1:19pm, April 29, 2008
That's freaking creepy. Add that to the earthquake, I'd say your set is haunted, which is cool. |
 | magnaderalpha 1:57pm, April 29, 2008
About the remake thing. There ARE yet too many remakes and not enough GOOD ones, but fair enough, PlatDunes aren't repsonsible for majority of them. Sure I don't care for the "Extreme" TCM(sorry, I have something against major tintage, which also ruinned The Beginning). But, seeing that THIS Unborn has NOTHING to do with the original(only the same name, but not related nor even a remake), this is actually a step in the right direction. I just don't want Platinum Dunes to be a movie company ONLY associated with remakes. If it took remakes to get the foot into the door to work your way up to doing original feature films, then that's good. Just keep the original stuff comin! God knows we need MORE original feature horror pictures out there NOW more than ever. I mean, who do the kiddies have to fall back on when they are questioned about their generation's horror icons? Remake versions of OLDER generation icons. And frankly, The Creeper and Jigsaw just don't cut it. These kids need a NEW batch of horror icons so they can hold them up and proud of their generation's contribution to the horror genre. |
 | disanti 1:07pm, May 5, 2008
Lots of movies get re-made, not just horror, so don't just keep in in this genre. Books are also turned into movies as well, it's almost the same thing right? You are taking someone elses ideas and putting it into your own version. So why don't those people get bashed? The comment above me has it right too, the Creeper and Jigsaw ain't cuttin it. First of all, the Jeepers Creepers movies are a JOKE. I have watched a lot of bad movies in my day, but you can put that one right next to "Frogs!" on the shelf. Which I would say, if someone remade "Frogs" in an Attack of the Killer Tomatoes style, that would be hilarious. As for Saw, thanks for the first one, keep the rest to yourself please. The first saw was good, more of a thriller/mystery, but the end had at least 95% of the people in the audience saying "No Way!" at the end. Now the sequels are just excuses to get some gory scenes in a movie screen. I'm not against that either though...but it does someone take away from part 1. I don't think people realize how the early 80's captured lightening in a bottle with Freddy, Jason, Micheal, and Leatherface. 4 unbelievable iconic figures all at once. How do you top that really? People are out there trying, but it's been a while. (Scream was probably the last series to actually succeed, but how long did that take?) So while we are waiting for someone to actually come up with a new, repackage up our favorite characters and feed it to us. Cause I'd rather eat the scraps of a re-make than barf up shit like Jeepers Creepers everytime I go to the theatre. |
 | rinagibran2 7:55pm, May 7, 2008
Hey I'm Kool with remakes as long as they are an improvement of some sort. So thanx Platinum Dunes for trying to keep the genre alive. |
 | Inkyatari 7:38pm, May 8, 2008
OH crap. I just heard that this was being filmed in Kankakee, IL at the Shapiro Developmental Center, a scant 5 minutes from where I live... |
 | SplAtterDay 11:53am, May 21, 2008
Thanks PD for letting me go back to the theater again. I for one am always there opening night to ALL your films.
As for ghosts - yeah, you have to experience it to belive it. My home is haunted nightly by a spirit named George who ALWAYS lets me know he's here. Opening doors, footsteps on the hardwood floors, and a shadow that come into veiw for just a split second. |
 | Pulp02mjb 3:32pm, June 5, 2008
Im a big fan of werewolf films and it would be pretty cool to see you guys make a werewolf film. I loved "An American Werewolf in London." I'm not saying to remake it or anything I'm just suggesting ya'll make one. Anybody else out there agree? |

Okay, I have a LOT to get off of me chest with you greedy, money-hungry bastards.
I made this account specifically for the occasion.
First off, haven't you prematurely ended enough Horror franchises TCM, F13, and now A Nightmare On Elm Street?
Not only this, but Robert Englund will not be replaying Freddy!!? If you remake ANOES, that is one thing, but
an actor other than Robert Englund playing Freddy Krueger!!? That is downright blasphemous!!!
There is no need for the original Nightmare to be remade, it has aged elegantly, and holds up
even to today's standards. (Which actually are quite low, due to talentless hacks like you.)
However, since for whatever reason you feel the urge to do so, ($$$) just give the fans
Robert Englund as Freddy. If not as Freddy, give him at least ten minutes of screen time in a
cameo or whatever. If not, then I swear to God that I will start the greatest cinematic boycott ever known against your film. Me and my friends will do whatever we can in our power to prevent your films from making money, boycotts, posting spoilers in the anticipation Threads on theinternet, anything that can possibly take that extra 8 bucks away from you. So please, for the love of the fans, (And for your love of money.) let Robert Englund play Freddy.
If not, then I hope that anybody and everybody and their entire families at platinum deuche (OOPS! That's not a Typo!!) rot in Hell you talentless, greedy, selfish, money-hungry low-life hacks. |

I think it's a ghost, it's probably a few - they're trying to stop you re-making classic horror films and tainting them with your bad re-makes. Most of the films you've re-made DO NOT need re-making, they are not aimed at new audiences. NOES FVs Jason was only out a few years ago - besides everyone has seen NOES because it's a genre classic. You're a disgrace to writers - you've STOLEN WES CRAVEN'S work and are not allowing him to be involved in a movie he created. This movie you're talking about sounds like a rip off of 'The Exorcist' like that picture of the guy doing a "spider-walk", can you guys come up with ANYTHING ORIGINAL AT ALL???? STOP TOUCHING THE CLASSICS - why are you in the industry simply to steal other, creative people's work and try and pass it off as your own. You're NOT fans of the horror films, whose reputations you taint with your awful "re-boots" or whatever fancy word you wanna put on stealing. Fans of horror would want to create their own horror movies, their own horror movie bad guys for this generation. All this generation is getting is poor imitations of literal CLASSSICS. Regurgitated c*ap, with you mixing in your own poorly written scripts with the original films' iconic scenes. If you truely wanted to do something for a new generation you would create something NEW, like the 'Scream' Trilogy, like the 'Saw' or 'Final Destination' movies. You're a disgrace to the horror genre, and it's companies like you which give the genre a bad name, all you add to film is sex and gore, that's not scary - its crass and boring. Robert Englund probably doesn't want to be n their crap re-make. He should, and is probably standing by WES CRAVEN who made his career by casting him as Krueger. These guys have gone down even lower by STEALING Wes Craven's creation - I curse their re-make!!! x3. Now they even resort to making up stories about Torso ghosts so they can add it as a DVD extra LMAO, they're pathetic. Only un-educated horror fans who love gore watch their movies. Gorno movies are all they can put out. NOES became popular because of horror fans spreading the word about how brilliant it was. This company will have a hit, and then it will fade into nothingness. If you want original horror from original writers, BOYCOTT THIS COMPANY!!!! FILTHY, STINKING, THEIVES!!!! |
 | DGo8 5:19pm, May 29, 2009
1st of Robert didnt wanna do freddy again.
and second if you dont like there films..dont watch them dont put money in there pockets...me i think its a good thing...they know what they are doing..they know there gonna get some stick from people...and i myself...im worried..that they taken on..one of the most populer horror films of al time and gonna re-boot it..but..im up for it..just dont mess it up..because freddy is an amazing character dont make him funny..or..anythink like that...i ask you everyone at Platinum Dunes...make horror scary again..make the most populer horror icon of the 80's..the most populer of today!! i will be going to see your film on release day i cant wait! |
