Before we talk Comic Con....

When I started this blog it was intended to be place where we could interact about the Platinum Dunes movies. It was designed to bring you inside every step of the process of bringing those movies to your local theater. Recently, it seems like things have been reduced to people taking shots at us, while others defend our films. While there is certainly a place for that, it concerns me that we are drifting away from the intended goal here. Perhaps I am to blame for this, as I took a run at the haters, but now that there is so much negativity here that I have decided to respond to a few of the regular negative comments so we can move past them and get back to doing what we should be doing... discussing all aspects of our films.
For better or worse and in no particular order...
"I do this for the money."
Actually, that is true. I have always wanted to produce movies; it's been a lifelong dream of mine. The measure of my success is determined by the amount of money our films make for the studios. If we started putting out movies that lost money consistently, I wouldn't have a job. It's pretty clear and simple. I want to make movies that will earn the studios their money back and much, much more. That allows me to keep doing what I love to do. Moreover, I am passionate about horror movies and feel that if we can contribute to a profitable slate of films for a studio that they will continue to make horror movies with us. My passion has become my job and I do the best that I can at it. It's impossible to please everyone, but the box office numbers continue to show that viewers want to see what we are putting out. If you wanted to see more original horror films, then you should make sure that original horror films are outgrossing the remakes.
"I don't have an original idea in my brain."
Actually I do, but the intent of this comment is that we only make remakes. Not true, though some of our remakes have been more successful than our original films. The Unborn and Horsemen are both original films and though it fits neither into a remake or original film, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning straddles the line. We have numerous original films in development at the studios. AND AGAIN, go support those films if you want to see more. Spend some of your free time being supportive of original content instead of wasting energy on all of the negativity behind remakes.
"Platinum Dunes movie suck."
That is certainly open to differing opinions, and obviously I am in no position to judge, but I will say this. We employee the finest artists, crews, and staff available - many of whom are not generally available on films budgeted at our level. We benefit that many people who work on Michael Bay's films are very loyal to Bay and avail themselves to us to stay in the "family". Additionally, I feel that our films have an amazing look and that "look" is something we work very hard to bring to every movie and that I'm quite proud of. If you think the movies themselves just plain 'suck', you are quite entitled to your own opinion and it should be respected... but you should also be respecting the people who love them. It goes both ways.
"Don't remake (fill in the blank), you are ruining (fill in the blank)."
This is a very big one and frankly it confuses me for various reasons. First of all, I can't comprehend how remaking a movie invalidates the original. I am not taking the original negative and destroying it. If you only want to watch the original version of A Nightmare On Elm Street, I am not stopping you from doing it. We are not the first company to remake films and certainly won't be the last. Devin at Chud and I had this very discussion a few weeks ago. Producers have been remaking horror movies ever since horror movies started. Dracula, Wolfman, Frankenstein and many, many others have been remade over and over. I see Freddy, Jason, Mike Myers and Leatherface as the Draculas of this current era. Long after I've gone there will be another generation of horror producers who will remake these films and bring their take to the concept. This continual reinterpretation is how art always has and will evolve. All we can do is try and bring you the best film we can make and entertain you for an hour and half. Shouldn't we all be happy that these icons that are so important to us are living on and will see a day where the next generation might actually care about them?
Something you should all know...
There is something else that I have noticed which I think is only fair that I share with you. Many of the haters on this board are WRITERS who have submitted material to me that I have rejected. There is no reason to call them out, but you know who you are and I wonder if I had not rejected their material if they would bring the level of discussion down to its current low level. I ask that you at least identify yourself when you post so everyone can be aware that your negative opinion is based on something other than our work. It's odd how low some people will go to try and malign our work, when their anger has nothing to do with the quality of our work.
Some News! Comic Con is this week!

Good post Brad, unfortunately it's probably gonna stir up more shit from the haters, but that's the internet for ya. All I know is that I'm here because I love horror movies, and so is everyone else (I hope). The level of venom in some of the posts just goes to show how passionate we are when it comes to our favorite movies/characters. I would hope that some of the haters would realize that you are a fan also, and give you more of a chance. Brad, remember this: you have nothing to worry about if your "Elm St." kicks some serious ass. Englund or no Englund, if it's good, they'll love you. |
 | voorhees213 3:21pm, July 20, 2009
I'm also thinking there might just be a bit of jealousy among the haters, Brad. Face it, you're living the dream for anybody who grew up LOVING these movies. I, for one, have stated many times that if I won the lottery, I would buy the rights to Friday the 13th from New Line so they couldn't fuck it up anymore (I would also buy the LA Kings so AEG couldn't fuck them up anymore, but that's not for this board). Fuck, one of my childhood dreams was to be a random victim in a horror movie, F13 or otherwise. Keep doin what your doin, there are plenty of us who enjoy it. I just wish I worked for PD. Dream job, plain and simple. |
 | voorhees213 3:31pm, July 20, 2009
LordMaiden, opinions are like assholes - everybody has one. You don't like their movies, I think I get that. Neither you nor I speak for ALL horror fans out there. |
 | voorhees213 3:33pm, July 20, 2009
And to clarify, NO, I do not work for PD, I work at a fucking Starbucks in Calabasas. |
 | keepin It Reel 4:44pm, July 20, 2009
Well I'm glad Mr. Fuller has decided to stop taking bullshit from the haters. And he has a point.Money is not his only concern, but it has to be a concern. It's called having a successful job.Everyone wants to profit from there hard work, and have it appreciated by others.(As I'm shure all you haters flip those burgers to the absolute best of your ability, so others may enjoy them)And if they made a bunch of B-horror movies that didn't do well at the box office, they'd loose money and go out of buisiness for shure. And anyways it sounds like the haters have a bit of a double standard. The origional films grossed a good amount of money themselves, but that doesn't seem to be a problem for any of you.As a matter of fact, who's to say that the creators of the origional films that Platinum Dunes are supposedly "ruining" didn't have the money in mind in some aspect when they were first developing these stories.I mean, none of you know any of these filmakers personally, yet you get on this board and either bash or vouch for them as if the two of you go way back. And I have news for you, whether you like it or not, Michael Bay is making more than enough money off of his "Transformers" films. He doesn't need to remake horror films for money. If he were to drop Platinum Dunes all together, he'd still be filthy rich.Same with Brad Fuller.I'm, shure Mr. Fuller could easily go and work for another studio where he'd make much more money (Since according to you people, that's all he's interested in), and have much less backlash from the fan community. So why do they waste there time trying to please fans who will crucify them for no reason other than the simple fact that they just don't want any movies to be remade? Well here it is.They must have a deep passion foe horror films, and that is why they choose to devote their efforts to that end.I mean the reality of it is, while there are plenty of successful horror films out there, they don't make anywhere near as much money as summer blockbusters, and other major studio films. So if one were to be a greedy money grubber, remaking low budget horror films would not be their first choice. So there is no way that Platinum Dunes does it simply for the money alone. They have a real love and appreciation for the horror genre. And as I said before, and now even Brad has stated, if you are completely against remakes for the sake of them being remakes, the original will always be waiting for you at your local Blockbuster. And as I recall, none of the people involved with the origional films Platinum Dunes has remade have had any problems with the new films(But I guess they're just wrong to), with the distinction of one egotistical Wes Craven who through a bitch fit over Platinum Dunes not calling him up and immediatly asking him to be some sort of creative consultant on the film.If I were Platinum Dunes, I would not have called up Craven either. He's already made it clear that he didn't want this movie remade at all, so it's pretty obvious Platinum Dunes never would have had his blessing at all. What I'd like to know is why he keeps complaining about having to sell the rights to the origional.I understand he was caught between a rock and a hard place at the time, but that was 1984, and it is currently 2009.Since the origional Nightmare film, he's gone on to become one of the most successful and most well known horror writer/directers of all time.He made a shit load of money off his "Scream" franchise alone. So one would think that in that long period of time he could have afforded to buy back the rights to his precious film. I mean all he does is complain, but it's his own fault and he knows it.If he cared so much about the origional as much as he claims, he'd have fought to get his rights back, instead of letting them sit.Anyways, even the beloved Robert Englund has endorsed this remake so I don't see what the problem is.And once again haters, you're running on fumes, and your hate-filled ranting and raving has fallen upon def ears.If you have such a problem with this film then I beg you : Please go down to Comic-Con and speak your mind to Mr. Fuller's face, so he can actually defend himself, and put you in you're place in front of thousands of people.Either way, it's time to stop hiding behind you're desktops, and have your asses handed to you.But I've said my peace, Cant wait to see what they're gonna reveal at Comic-Con.Good luck guys ! |
 | chip85 7:29pm, July 20, 2009
well least there has only been one hater so far lol fingers crossed. I completely agree with Brad in regards to opening up these icons to a new audience. Even these days I will rant and rave on how good ANOES is to my friends who havent seen it, then I will watch it with them and they dont really like it as they are use to modern day films and it just looks old. I think this is a great movie to revamp and let the new generation see. I mean im not saying that these guys are goin to do an awesome job on this movie and its goin to be the best thing ever, but I am definitely willing to give it a chance. Just like Brad said, my original nightmare collection is going to be there when I get home from the cinemas. Very interesting what he said about everyone sending him scripts for movies, something I definitely believe as well cause you see plenty of people on here trying to get him to look at scripts. Anywho I wish you guys the best of luck and I really hope you guys have made a great movie. |

 | tungbandit 9:06pm, July 20, 2009
well spoken, if i might say, mr fuller. ur just pourin gas on the fire of people who like to bitch, though |
 | LemieuxRick 9:08pm, July 20, 2009
Give me a break LordMaiden! If you don't like PD movies, don't go and see them. You are what is wrong with the internet. You think that your opinion is the only one that matters. I love the Nightmare movies, even part 2 and 6 and can't wait for a remake of my favorite. Why not go and bother other people with you crap! |
 | Dunes Fan 9:31pm, July 20, 2009
hey "lordmaiden" do everyone a favor and shut the fuck up, it's 'cause of your mouth that we have holes in our 0-zone. |
 | tungbandit 9:44pm, July 20, 2009
is it really worth focusing that much energy into stating your disdain for pd? you must be single |
 | MrDisgusting 10:00pm, July 20, 2009
Lord Maiden was banned. Spamming and slamming out boards is unacceptable. I'm on edge right now, so grow up people. |
 | killrobot 10:15pm, July 20, 2009
just to be clear, LordMaiden wasn't banned for having a negative opinion... but for the fact that he/she repeatedly spammed the comments section with pointless inflammatory posts. we welcome discussion and value opinions on both sides of the spectrum, but please show a little respect to the fact that Platinum Dunes is taking the time to be here and interacting directly with you guys. |
 | chip85 10:46pm, July 20, 2009
THANK YOU!! I was wondering when someone was going to shut him up. Im sure he'll be back under a different username though. I think we just need to start ignoring the haters comments, if they say something dont resond to it, unfortunately there is nothing that can be said to get rid of them (just as there is nothing they can say that will stop remakes). So everyone must band together and just ignore them. |
 | keepin It Reel 11:39pm, July 20, 2009
Glad at least one of the haters have been banned.I'm amazed at all the negative energy people will go out of their way to throw at this film. And even more amazed that they continue to do so when they know that no one wants to hear it, and that they aren't gonna sway other people in favor of their own ignorant opinions. There are so many other things going on in the world today to be upset about.Like the recession, the current war in the middle east, the health care situation, swine flu, and most importantly, the other plague currently sweeping the nation, that's right : The Jonas Brothers.(It pains me just to think about that last one.)And if you must be a bashful self-appointed film critic, please direct you negativity to Fox for unleashing the Alien Vs. Predator series on us.Just do us all a favor and leave this board. |

This is my first message on your blog and I would like to comment.
I am a screenwriter and you did not reject my screenplay. You refused my submission request. In other words, you wouldn’t even read it.
Back in 2004, I came up with a brilliant idea for a horror film and it made perfect sense as a “Friday the 13th” sequel in 3-D.
In 2007, I wrote an eight-page screenplay treatment and tried to pitch my story to you back when you were looking for writers for your first F13 flick. You couldn’t allow me to pitch it because I wasn’t represented by an agent at the time.
I decided that I must try to write the feature length screenplay myself and try to get representation. I started writing it in December 2008 and finished the first draft in March 2009 including a spec version fitting for “Friday the 13th”.
An Emmy award winning editor and the star of an early F13 film read my script with amazing reviews. The star was very excited about it and claimed that my story was the best sequel ever read regarding this franchise.
In April, I went to Beverly Hills and met with a reputable literary agent and his 24 year old reading assistant who is a F13 fan. They read the script and found it to be very clever and above average. I got representation because of this script.
You never knew the story line to my screenplay. What you did know was that the story was good and I obtained representation because of it, it was written for low budget 3-D, the story makes sense for die hard fans and newcomers alike, and it brings back survivors from earlier films. I even offered for a collaboration with your current writers because I realized you re-hired them 2 weeks after the release of the reboot in February.
You mentioned to me, while you were filming on location for the next Freddy movie in June, that you were prohibited to receive any submissions regarding F13 because you already hired the screenwriters. A few days later an article came out with a recent interview with you. When asked about the next F13 sequel, you stated that you have no script, no greenlight and didn’t know what was going to happen. It seemed like during the interview you had no ideas what kind of story would be written.
What really bugs me about the whole thing is that these writers you hired, in my opinion, aren’t really that good. The fact is (and boy I would like to know how this happened) is that YOU have been granted the power of having franchise brand name movies given to you to remake or whatever you want with them. Of course these movies make money in their first weekend! They are BRAND NAME movies!
I’m surprised you are in development for the next Friday sequel because the box office for your Friday reboot fell 81% the second weekend. For those of you who don’t know what this means; I will tell you. It means after the opening weekend, people told their friends not to go see it because it wasn’t that good or scary.
Now I come along and offer you something with insane box office potential and the potential to actually have legs (remaining in the theater) – and you won’t even look at it.
It seems to me that you are in a very closed off group that thinks they know better. Let me tell you something Brad, I made my first digital 3-D picture in 2001. Who is ahead of their time here? It’s me. Who has the power for these brand name horror pictures? You. Who gets screwed? Everyone.
Thanks for nothing.

 | Gothhead 2:59am, July 21, 2009
Wow where do we start.
Clubnick,
Are you aware that MANY producers will not read a unrepresented writers script because they could be sued and accused of stealing there idea if they dont like it. Did you ever consider that the article you read had a interview with Brad that came out after you had talked to him? Further more as a writer who is also represented by a agent. If you have a agent or a manager that is worth something you should know that they would show the script to someone in PD and if they are giving you sound advice to advance towards your goals, they SURE AS HELL would not advice you to air your feelings out on a message board and insult the producer of the movie. They would probably drop you because of the way you acted if they thought it would harm a relationship they have with a producer at PD.
While L.A. is a very big city, hollywood (the entertainment industry in general) in it's own way is very small and its built on relationships. If Brad went to lunch with someone and brought up your name and told them about "The rude writer who was nasty on our message board cause we didnt buy his script." Do you think the people he's talking to would want to work with you?
The way you and other writers are acting on this board is what makes some people HATE dealing with writers and frankly it makes me ashamed. |
 | keepin It Reel 3:27am, July 21, 2009
Wow.The haters just keep coming. And now they think they can wright screenplays.Look man, I feel it is my duty as a good samaritan to tell you about this new thing that has just come out. It's called life, and you should really get one.And while I'm at it, let me introduce you to a very good friend of mine called reality.Perhaps (And this is just a shot in the dark), Mr. Fuller, and everyone else at Platinum Dunes with dignity, simply thought you're script would be awful.I mean, after reading the part about you wanting to bring survivers from the earlier series, I can tell you that no one would see that film.Oh, and I don't know if anybody told you, but with this new series, Platium Dunes have completely started from scratch, creating an entirely different world that has nothing to do with the origional one, in which these old "survivers" simply do not exist. So to bring them back would make sense to no one.And if your idea was going to be to use some sort of supernatural force to intertwine these two universes somehow, then you can through that out the window because this new series is based in reality, which means now they can't and won't be doing anything like that. Also as you stated, you had no representation of any kind, and had they used one line out of your script, they'd have been sued like there's no tomorrow.Plus, in the film industry, the writers, directers, producers, and crew members usually develope friendships, become comfortable with each other, now how to work with one another, and naturally want to continue working with one another.Steven Spielburg and Bryan Singer (To name a few) are famous for using the same people to work on their films. So do you really expect that Brad, Andrew, and Michael would just tell their writers "Listen, we know you want to do this film, and that we told you if we did a sequel that we'd come to you fist, but this fan (whom we know absolutely nothing about, and has nothing to his credit)really wants to write this, so sorry, you're out.I mean lets be serious for a second. Not to mention the fact that you sound pretty arrogant, going so far as to say you're script is a sure blockbuster and way better than theirs.Pretty much endorsing yourself. And the only other person who has endorsed you, (or so you claim)is some B-movie actor/actress from one of the older films, who did't even vouch for you publically I might add.BTW, just because an actor thought an idea was good, doesn't make it so.Sigourney Weaver thought Alien 3 & 4 were great ideas, and Hugh Jackman thought 'Wolverine" was amazing, yet the fans thought it was worse than "X-men 3" which is loathed as well, and I think James Cameron correctly summed up how bad Alien 3 & 4 were. So I guess that goes to show you why they're actors.(And no, I'm not bashing either of those actors in any way.I love them both, and was simply making a point)So to sum it up, you can't get mad if a studio doesn't want to take a HUGE risk on an unproven screenwriter, who has no rep, and nothing under his belt. For you to come on this board ranting and making all these claims and accusations is not only dilusional, but unprofessional as well. And whining about it is simply pathetic.Grow up, be mature about this, and have a little dignity. Now that you've come on this forum and spat in these people's faces, rest assured you're scipt will never be greenlit by this production house. |

Well said Brad. I have to laugh at the comment about "You are in it for the money"....well duh!? Who wouldn't wanna make a decent quid doing something they love? I'm glad you came out and said what need ti be said. Now, lets all move on from the nasty schoolyard name calling, and get down to business. Movie business, ie: Freddy Krueger!!! Hell yeah. |
 | dipsomatic 4:02am, July 21, 2009
Hey Brad. I have been reading your page for a LONG time and have never felt the need to comment until now... My girlfriend and I live in Australia and have gone out to see every single Platinum Dunes film ever made on the day of its release over here. Needless to say, we are both huge fans of what you guys are doing!
Anyway, in this part of the world, we don't get to see many horror movies on the big screen. More often than not, the theater chains announce a movie is 'coming soon', but it never actually makes it to the cinema. The fact that your films are playing in other countries and doing as well as they are is nothing short of an amazing achievement. When you look at all of the movies that fall through the cracks, you guys are obviously on top of your game.
I just want to say that in my opinion, Platinum Dunes are SAVING this genre. I'm not just talking about your re-makes either... Everything you have put to film thus-far has done exactly what a good horror movie should; bring the scares, the fun, and of course, turn a profit. Mate, honestly, don't give another seconds thought to all of these negative comments being made about your work... Just remember, YOU ARE NAILING IT EVERY TIME!!!
And the fact that some guy in Australia is giving you a bit of moral support on here should really make you see just how much of an impact your movies are making WORLDWIDE!!! Mate, that is a mammoth achievement! Keep up the awesome work. So many of us would kill to be in your shoes right now. So enjoy it mate! You are doing an AWESOME Job!!! |

all I care is that freddy should look lik Freddy, if I can recognize him in the film as the same character then I'm happy |
 | RobinSH87 5:00am, July 21, 2009
I appreciate you taking the time to share all this with us, the work must be exhausting enough before you come on here only to find childish and negative comments.
Platinum Dunes are making an effort to reinvigor the characters we love, I think at some point it becomes naïve even for us diehard horror fans to still believe there will be a twelfth or thirteen sequel to a series that started thirty years ago. Don't get me wrong, I love the original films and enjoy both sequels and remakes - but times change, and if you want the same exact film over and over again, press repeat or watch the first ten sequels for the gazillionth time.
They can definitely co-exist, and if I can, I'll gladly go see the Platinum Dunes Nightmare here in Scandinavia - but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy coming home to the other seven Freddy films. Not all Platinum Dunes films are great, but not all of them are awful either - I'm definitely looking forward to a sequel for Friday the 13th, and you've worked hard on Elm Street. Leatherface, Jason and Freddy are still on the big screen - and for that I'm definitely grateful. Keep up the hard work. |

Damn Brad put some haters in their places. I'm behind you 100% all I wanna know is can we see Freddy please I ship out for the Army in September and I really wanna see what he looks like before I ship out to boot. I just hope I can get some leave to check this bad boy out when it hits theaters. Much love to you Platinum Dunes keep up the damn fine work and to all the haters lets see if you can make half the money these guys do with your "awesome" "original" scripts. |

I don't care if you remake TCM or POLTERGEIST och SIXTH SENSE.
I have a problem with you remaking F13th and NOES which had a succesful film realesesd as late as 2003.
You could have made NOES a moderrn story without remaking and taking out Englund.
IMO.
I will NEVER be able to see Englund play Freddy again, and I think that is sad. Because you did not need to remove yourself from the original NOES-series to create a new and financial succesful NOES-film.
You are on a remake-high and that sucks. I loved your TCM-remake, I respect the AMITYVILLE-film. But can't understand the decision regarding NOES.
Your F13th film was bad because it played more like a parody than a real film. If Niespel would have looked at it as he did with TCM (making it disturbing and "real") it would have been a better film and would have made more money at the B.O). Just because the 80's f13th-films contained drugs/stupid teens/breasts doesn't mean you should take that like the franschise is a joke. |

Rock on, Mr. Fuller. Very well thought out and articulated points. Unfortunately, no matter how much understandable logic you throw out the internet hate club will always be an internet hate club. It, unfortunately, comes with the territory.
Even though I won't be making it out to Comic Con this year, I hope those who do end up enjoying whatever it is you gonna give 'em |

Hello, Mr. Fuller. I loved both your TCM and your Friday the 13th reboots. I did see The Unborn. Fun but not all that scary to be perfectly honest. I'm looking forward to the new Nightmare and hope that you could make Freddy scary again. Oh and please, go with with a winter, snowy setting for the Friday the 13th sequel. Lots of good potential there. |

"Spend some of your free time being supportive of original content instead of wasting energy on all of the negativity behind remakes." Actually this is 100% true. As for the rest . . look, a remake here and there has a place, even if 90% of the time they bore me (at best) and I find them pointless. But its now the norm to go and find a movie to remake. That's the issue I have. And yeah, its more the fault of the consumer than the person providing what the consumer wants, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I will also say, that some of us, including me, take this too personally sometimes . . I/we forget these are real people we're talking about, and there isn't really an excuse for it. SO I do apologize for getting too nasty at times (if you happened to come across something of mine in the forums or comments section) . . I still don't like the idea of going out and re-booting things left and right but it doesn't warrant the level of attacks I and others have shot at you in the past. And above it all, I do hope the NOES "reboot" turns out to be something I like as a fan of the franchise. |

I'm betting that the reveal is the glove. I do not care if I like this movie or I don't like this movie, I will always have the original series to fall back on. Nothing will ever change that, unless of course George Lucas gets his pudgy-paws on the rights. |

Hi, Brad I hope you read this. You're right about remakes. I've seen all platinum Dunes Films and I didn't like The Unborn and Horsemen was ok. But The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th were great, not betterthan the originals but great. I'm waiting for the Friday sequel. And about A Nightmare on Elm Street, please keep the Nightmare theme and that song that says: "one, two, Freddy's Coming for you..."
Thanks you, Brad
Oh and by the way... Get the Halloween rights and remake it. I love John Carpenter's Movie, It's my favorite movie of all time but I didn't like at all what Rob Zombie did. I know you can do a better remake that's closer to the original.
Thanks again and good luck.

No matter what, Comic Con will be great. And I like the idea of maken F13th 2 in winter enviroment. Great idea! Hope there will be more news there too. And of course, NOES. Thumbs up! (just one thing, keep the soundtrack as good as possible) |

@ Gothhead & keepin It Reel, very well said. And now @ Brad & PD, I really love you guys. I love how you defended yourselves from the haters in a calm and reasonable manner, instead of lowering to their level. GREAT JOB!. I'm with you 100%. Love your films! |

Gothhead, I would like to make a few things clear. In no other circumstances would I shop a screenplay in Hollywood. I have several that I am developing that I intend to produce independently. I don't HATE PD. Actually, I think they are great producers because they continue making money even though I think the films are very safe and cater to a certain audience- not a wide one, and that is OK. I would like them to one day step up and do something extraordinary, however, that takes risk. In this economy, I think audience want more bang for their buck and I truly believe the timing is right for my type of screenplay. As for your "survivors" comment; my screenplay's main characters are young in age (not survivors) and nothing supernatural happens for the survivors to be included in this story, but you wouldn't know that. Unfortunately, no one will know it. The reason I aired this blog was simply out of frustration and the knowledge that PD will never read my script. At this point I know there is no hope and I have no intentions of trying to "break into Hollyowood" and become a part of the system as a work for hire screenwriter. That is not my style. Anyway, I am glad to see that there are fans to these movies and I do wish PD success. I just hoped that they would look at my screenplay and discover for themselves the potential here. In hindsight, maybe I was trying to shake things up by bringing out some truths here but I realize that this doesn't help anyone. Anyway, if I offended anyone, please accept my apology. Have fun. |

at first i was very shocked to hear that my favorite movie was going to be revamped. i did not like this concept at all, even more upset when i heard that Robert was not going to be Freddy. i've made many fusses about this film, but as i see the hard work and Passion that you all have put into this film, i am a believer! i am all for a remake, because honestly we need it. all of you fans of the original series can attest to that fact that freddy went from an evil perverted child murdering fuck, to a stand up commedian (not including anything wes craven did)we need a new take on this, this is a new day, and frankly the way that character is designed he can live on forever, yeah let's spread it out a little bit..i cant wait to see this movie i am very excited to know what to expect. |

Mr Fuller,
I am Seventeen years old and I have been a die-hard 80's horror movie fanboy for as long as I can recall. I know these films like the back of my hand and I know what it takes to make a solid horror film. Despite what anybody else has to say on the subject, I really have enjoyed the majority of your films. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror may have been some of the only films that I have ever seen in the theatres that actually scared me. Not to mention that I think that you guys may have just given us some of the most badass versions of Leatherface and Mr. Voorhees to date!
Do I have some bones to pick with certain aspects of your films? Absolutley, but it doesn't stop me from seeing all of the positives as well. At the end of the day, I believe that you guys at Platinum Dunes really do care about the quality of your movies. Push the haters aside and keep doing what you have been doing, bringing my favorite slashers back to the big screen. |
 | I AM THE EGG MAN 11:36am, July 21, 2009
I'm seriously having trouble believing that there are this many people who feel the need to defend Platinum Douche and Brad Fuller. How many bad films do you people need to see from these people before you wake up? You 'tards are just chasing the dragon that was the TCM remake. Nothing the company has done since has been any good. Have you people not seen The Unborn, The Amityville Horror, The Hitcher, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, or Friday the 13th (2009)? All of those films were absolute garbage! Now, we have the script that hit the net for ANOES, and we know Platinum Douche's track record. Can't any of you put those two together? This movie is going to be so bad, and when it comes out, I can't wait to see how many of you defend it, even though you'll probably know it's bad. |
 | tungbandit 11:48am, July 21, 2009
how come people say that the remakes suck when most of the original films weren't that good to begin with? don't get me wrong; we received many great characters, scenes, and memories from the og's, but the overall quality of the movies was mediocre at best. they were very good for the times when they were released, but as far as over quality you cannot compare them imo. we have better cameras, better sets, more action, and most importantly BETTER ACTORS. this is just me simply stating my opinion and im not downin anybody elses because your entitled to it, and people should respect it to. it's just a major turn-off when some peeps do nothing but secrete bile and flame. try to keep an open mind and try to take something good from the experience of watchin the remake. |
 | evilfairydust 12:26pm, July 21, 2009
It is unfortunate that so much negativity goes on. I understand the need to voice a concerned opinion, but so many times it seems to get very personal and nasty...there's just no need for that. However, I do wonder about the quality of PD films. The look is always amazing, but the actual story is often disappointing. The Hills Have Eyes has been the best, in my opinion...it was a great film. I thought F13th was pretty bad. The story just wasn't that interesting, and Jason's character was very much like Leatherface, which just isn't right. But anyway, I give every remake PD has created a chance...because you never know, the next one could be great. My hope is that you guys will take your time with each one and make sure every film is great. I understand that you have to make money on these films, and there are some things that may get compromised in order to make that happen. Please, just pay attention and treat each remake with the intense care and creativity that it deserves. My number one piece of advice....always start with an very solid script....that's your area of weakness right now. |
 | Big Bad Wolf 12:27pm, July 21, 2009
Egg Man, while I respect your opinion, do you REALLY need to resort to childish, petty insults to get your point across? It's bullshit like that that makes me understand why PD is being defended. The opinion of their films is up to the viewer, but the manner in which you present that opinion is what's important. Besides, I really doubt that you're going to convince anyone to not see it. No one is going to read what you, or any other hater has to say, and think to themself, "You know what? I change my mind." As far as original films go vs. remakes, all films are made by people with flesh and blood, people who believe in them, and whether they're good or not is up to the viewer. An original film has just as much a chance at being terrible as a remake does. |
 | clubnick 12:42pm, July 21, 2009
Correction: My last post was addressed to just Gothhead and was meant for Goth and keepin It Reel. Also for keepin It Reel - I think you misssed the part I intitially wrote that I DID obtain a reputable literay agent active in Hollywood and PD refused the screenplay submission inquiry from my agent. After this, I probably won't be represented anymore - but again, in normal circumstances, I would never shop a screenplay in Hollywood, but I had to because this story was perfect as a F13 spec screenplay - in 3-D. |
 | mav07 1:16pm, July 21, 2009
ALWAYS QUESTION AUTHORITY! I like some of the PD films and i dont really care what they do. but the fate of these characters should NOT rest on the shoulders of two people (Fuller & Form! these films are different and they have a hardcore following. somehwere there is a 17 year old kid who could have came up with a better story for the F13th remake, and fuller needs to realise this. Why not think outside of the box and take script submissions from whoever wants to send them & not just rely on two of the most idiotic writers out there (Damien Shannon & Mark Swift) |
 | mav07 1:19pm, July 21, 2009
and clubnick, 3D is the worst film gimmick to come out of the 80's. Its cheesy and it just takes away from the story. |
 | clubnick 1:30pm, July 21, 2009
may07 - Your 3-D comment is a very common one because the early 80's and 1950's 3-D films were written BECAUSE of 3-D. This isn't the case for my screenplay because the story is great on it's own. There are reasons why this story actually calls for 3-D that I cannot discuss, but never intended to be in 3-D for gimmick purposes. |
 | tungbandit 1:50pm, July 21, 2009

See now this is the shit that pisses me off! Brad, I appreciate you standing up for yourself and keeping people straight about things but the bottom line is YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO!! This is ridiculous. How hard is it for people to understand: if you don't agree with or like the idea of a film then DON'T FUCKING SEE IT. How hard is that? Why spend so much time making negative comments on a site that produces a movie that you don't even like? Why are you even here? Have you nothing in life more important then to produce petitions to stop a movie? Why not spend that time trying to save the environment or volunteer at your local Salvation Army? You are not going to stop the film nor do you matter in any way shape or form. This site was created for us fans to discuss, talk and look forward to seeing this film. If you don't like it then leave. Its as simple as that. Brad, keep up the good work and I hope you continue this blog and keep those of us that deserve it in the loop. We appreciate it because producers don't normally do this or take our opinions seriously. Please don't let these morons get to you and lets move on to the release of Freddy!! |

I have enjoyed all the films made by Platinum Dunes and am looking forward to where this company goes and what they do.

First, I want to address the Friday the 13th issue. For me being 33 years old I grew up on Jason Voorhees. I wouldn't be a huge horror fan without him. He to me is horror. Friday the 13th and Halloween brought a alot of exposure to horror good or bad. The hate on Friday the 13th (2009) is puzzling to me for several reasons. One lets make it clear Friday Part 6 and Part 4 were always my favorite horror movies. The fact that everyone said the new movie did not follow formula is a argument I just don't see. It followed the Friday the 13th formula exactly. Killing. Drugs. Nudity. It took what was given to us in the 80's and expanded on it. I am still shocked that it did not meet people's standards when frankly I wonder if they even saw the originals. What PD did is 1)give Jason more personally 2)make Friday the 13th dirty and gritty 3)combined elements of the first 4 films together
I am sorry but, being a Jason fan I was glad there was no going to Hell or space involved. Guys hate to break it to you but, PD is saving horror and keeping it afloat. Most people I know hate horror movies. As for remakes? If its a good remake who gives a rats ass. You want original horror movies but, flicks like Laid To Rest and The Children are freaking unwatchable. Terrible. Original? Yes. Terrible? Yes. Yeah, that helps horror. Blah. PD and Brad keep it up. Give us that Friday sequel. And quick before we get lost in all the original "crap" that keeps getting shoved down our direct to dvd throats. |
 | Nightmare 4:07pm, July 21, 2009
You're right Brad, horror movies have been being remade for a long long long time. However, no one in the history of cinema has done it as poorly as you and the others at Platinum Dunes. I have not been complaining that these movies I adore are being remade. I am complaining about who they are being remade by. Like I said earlier in a comment to you in your last blog post, I can't wait for the new Night of the Demons remake. If whoever is working on that was making the new Nightmare on Elm Street, I would be stoked. If Alex Aja was making this, I would be stoked. But they aren't, some no talent hacks are.
To say that looking at box office numbers shows that majority of fans think your work is entertaining is flawed. Let me just say you are lucky to have such a good marketing team. It's because of this relentless marketing the movies do average to well at the BO. However, remember when Friday the 13th had a huge opening, then dropped drastically? You know what that was Brad? It's a thing called word of mouth. Lots of people went to see Friday the 13th that weekend, but many of those very same people told their families, friends, and coworkers that the movie was a piece of shit, so not that many people went to see it after that since they heard it was so bad.
I'm doing some research on Rotten Tomatoes looking at the companies films ratings. Let's take a look.
Friday the 13th - 26%
The Hitcher - 19%
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning - 13%
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 36%
The Unborn - 12%
The Amityville Horror - 24%
Horsemen - N/A 1 fresh review, 2 rotten
Congratulations, PD! You have yet to make a movie, original or remake, that the general public thinks is HALF WATCHABLE.
P.S. Not a writer, just hate what this company is doing to the genre. I work market research in a small town in KY. |

Hey Brad, nice post looking forward to NOES reveals this week at comic con. Even though I won't be there in person, I do have some people down there who are going to do my dirty work for me...aka sit in on the panel. Anyway, I hope you've seen that my opinion has always been respectful and my comments either negative or positive are usually well thought out with a well defined explanation. I do enjoy PD movies, some more than others, but none the less I never feel like the effort wasn't put in regardless of the final product. I wish I could post more but my hard work has lifted me up to a level a 26 year old should feel lucky to be at. In fact I put in a resume at PD but never followed up because of the position offered to me at my current company. Anyway, I look forward to the news on Nightmare and I am greatly looking for the next step with F13th where I hope to see some vast improvements. Good luck with Con and I'll try to peak in to BD as much as posible with comments and such. |

I watched the Friday the 13th remake last night for the first time (has only just been released on DVD in Australia) and I must say I didnt really like it, but in saying that I wasnt a big fan of the Friday series to begin with. But from what I remember of the original series it was pretty much the same. Eggman so what if we are "chasing the dragon that was TCM" we want to see this movie, that is what this blog is for. People who are excited to see the nightmare on elm street remake. If you dont like it go start a hateboard somewhere else so we dont have to listen to your whining ass anymore!!! |

Eggman, if we make you so sick then go throw up somewhere else, film it and prove you can do a better production job than everyone else. I'm sure you'll make a million the first weekend. I see you have it all figured out. You're right we just "pretend" to like the movies so that Brad will talk to us. It has nothing to do with us actually enjoying the films. Congratulations! You're a fucking genius. |
 | Craig_666 7:50pm, July 21, 2009
I think people need to lay of the haters a little bit. We cherish the original and have grown up with these films and to see them remade is hard. However, some remakes that have some involvement with the original creators do quite well. The remakes of Wes Craven's early work have delivered as he hand picked some decent young directors who love the genres and respect the originals. The Hills Have Eyes and Last House on the Left used the same plots but were still drastically different in tone and feel that they felt fresh. However, for some reason Platinum Dunes films thus far have been really dull. I don't know what it is you do but these films for me have no re-watchable qualities. I really enjoyed TCM when I first saw it and I thought you had done an excellent job but re-watching it I just felt bored and stuck in the original. Unfortunately for you the originals were made in a time where we hadn't seen things done before. TCM was pretty groundbreaking and had such a grisly, documentury feel to it that you cannot recapture. Amityville was admittedly different to the original but what you failed to do was creep me out. I don't want gore when watching a haunted house film, I want atmosphere and the goosebumps. The original did that, the remake didn't.
Now, a Nightmare on Elm street could easily continued with a sequel. Freddy Krueger is like Santa; everyone knows who he is and everyone probably knows Rober Englund as Freddy. What stopped you from making a sequel that went back to its roots as a dark film.
Anyway, nothing can be done now. The film has been remade and i will go see it just to see what you've done. However, I think it's sad that you have to use the crew that are so faithful to Michael Bay. Check out this trailer that some guy made (I had read he was going to send this in to Platinum Dunes in the hope of getting the role of Freddy Krueger). This fan trailer has more original ideas I bet than the whole remake that will hit cinemas in 2010. I bet the remake of a Nightmare on Elm Street will be anywhere near as good as this:

Hi Craig, I agree with you in regards to that trailer. I seen it before they started filming the remake and I reckon its brilliant. I would have lovevd to seen what that guy could have done had he had the chance to make a full feature length fim. As for laying off the haters I dont think we should, this isnt a place for them to come whinge about this movie, its to discuss the movie, i have no problem with haters of this film, they are entitled to their own opinion. But when they come on here constantly and complain about the smallest things and just spam the page with insults it gets frustrating. |

JEEZ, after reading all these different comments and following this blog since this movie started I am beginning to feel sick. I'm not some huge horror guru, I have seen most of the classics. I am really just obsessed with the NOES series. It was the only good horror series with a intriguing and decent story. Freddy is a fun versitle character. The nightmare on elm street series was good because the story was interesting and the kills were so imaginative. As long as they keep the story interesting and the kills good and scary then it should be good. If they fuck up freddys make up and put a gardening tool on his hand I might be really pissed off but we will see. I really wish they would keep freddys appearence a secret! I half want to see him and half don't. I think I will know what direction the movie is going to go when I do see him |

Excited to see what will be shown at Comic-Con, wish I could be there in person. Most likely, there will be some discussion about plot details, doubt they had time to put together a teaser trailer.Plus, we get our first look at James Cameron's "Avatar", so that's pretty exciting as well.On the one hand, I'm dying to see what they've done with the new makeup, and costumes. At the same time, I don't want them to spoil it just yet, because April's pretty far away, and I want to have every bit as much anticipation then as I do now.I've heard some people on this board mention concerns about keeping the origional 'Nightmare" score, and whether or not Steve Jablonsky will stay true to it, as the score is synonymous with the both the Kruger character and the franchise in general. With this concern I must say I agree and disagree.I agree, to the extent that yes, it would only be right if they intergraded the main
"Nightmare" them into the new score in some fashion.(While not overdoing it, and still haveing somewhat of an original score). And yes, Jablonsky for the most part has presented a more atmospheric feel to his previous music compositions, and doesn't usually use a traditional orchastra in his themes.Keep in mind, different directors use different people.Jablonsky has worked on some of the previous PD films but, this is a Sam Bayer film. Not a Marcus Nispel film, not a David S. Goyer film, ect.And another thing worth noting, this film has virtually a completely different crew than "Friday the 13th" had.Different cinematographer, production designer, art directer, ect., and given the fact that no composer has officially been announced yet, Bayer may have someone else in-mind for the job completely. Now here is where the respective disagreement comes in.Assumeing they do decide to go with Joblonsky, which is a definate possibility, (since he's worked on most, if not all of their films), I don't thing it would neccissarily be a bad thing.Niether the origional "Texas Chainsaw" nor the "Friday" series had any real astablished, or identifiable score throughout all the films to define the series. Thus, he had more room to do what he wished. The "Elm Street" series does have an astablished score that was present thoughout each of the previous films. So while I think that the underlying score should be visceral and atmoshpheric, the main score will most likely be kept the same because to exlude it would be like making a "Halloween" film without John Carpenter's origional them, or a "Star Wars" film without the John Williams them.It just wouldn't feel right. But I'm more than sure that Bayer, Fuller, Form, and whomever they officially decide to score this film realise that, and have a firm understanding of how important adding in the original theme is to the fans.So I'm pretty sure you all have nothing to worry about on that front. And as I've said before, whatever feelings or critisisms you may have towards "Friday the 13" or any of the previous films Platinum Dunes have produced, this is not a Marcus Nispel film or whomever. This is a Samuel Bayer film, so naturally it will have a much different look and feel.I've seen some of the music videos that Bayer has directed, so visually, I'm confident that this film will deliver, and should make for some amazing nightmare sequences. Now whether or not Bayer can tell a story, or make you believe and, feel for his characters I cannot say. That is only because to my knowledge, this is his first film with a story, characters, and dialogue of any kind.So no one really knows what he will deliver, what he's capable of, or the potiential of this film to be great. So to lable him any cetain way, or critisize him prematurely would be unfair. And for those of you who have doubts about his directing capabilities and whether or not he's ready to carry a film like this, let me remind you that Sam Raimi was in no way the obvious choice to helm a film like "Spiderman", yet ultimately, he was the best one.So give this guy a chance, and realise that "Platinum Dunes" would not put a film like this (which seems to be a huge film for them) in the hands of someone they didn't feel could go above and beyond to please not only the die-hard fans, but also introduce it to a broader audience who will now finally have the chance to enjoy Freddy the way all of you did growing up.I was not around when the origional films were being made and all I can do is watch them on DVD, but I have no memories of when they first came out and how they became a part of pop culture. So I'm exited that this film is being updated and introduced to a new generation. So thanks PD, and to anyone who is against this film out of loyalty to the origional, you are entitled to your opinions and Craven's film will always be available for you to enjoy. But please don't try to kill anyone else's excitement and, at the end of the day, all these are, are movies.Movies that flesh and blood human beings put alot of hard work into, sacrificed their time and energy to make, and have had to be apart from their families for weeks to do so.(And yes, filmakers have lives to).I think people either tend to forget, or completely disregard that, and the hard work it takes to bring these films to the public because none of us have worked on a movie set a day in our lives.Think about that before you decide to hatefully trash this film, and also remember that unleashing venomous comments on here only adds extra weight on the shoulders of the film-makers that they simply don't need at the moment. There is no need to be childish, and I feel some people for better or for worse take these films a bit too seriously.Life is a beautiful thing and it wiil not by ruined by this or any film being bad.So chin up guys. Cheers ! |

I obviously don't know if this is one of the things that they're going to reveal at Comic Con, so type this is at your own risk if you want a look at the official logo for the film:

You guys at PD you bastards lool teasing me with the freddy pictures lool |
 | chip85 7:03pm, July 22, 2009
man the freddy pick looks pretty awesome. Definitely looks dark and scary. Oh and has everyone seen that apparently Brad has said that the leaked script was fake all along. Man I hope that is true. I mean I didnt actually read it cause I didnt want to, but that has been the basis of all the haters hate towards this film. I wonder if that means the whole Freddy being a child molester isnt true?? Hope so cause when I heard it I was a tad bit worried cause freddy is a child murderer. It just seems more scary that he is killing children then molesting them. Thats just dirty and wrong. |

Just saw the new freddy pic, and the first official poster on IGN.com.Gotta say it's pretty bad-ass, and they didn't actually reveal the make-up which I'm glad they didn't cause I don't wanna know exactly what it looks like just yet.Though I have heard that it looks amazing and that it looks completely real, and that you'll actually forget he's wearing make-up.Also, the glove looks very close to the origional, but with very slight and subtle changes (or should I say enhancements). The blades look a bit longer and more threatening (without being overly big like the one's used in "Freddy VS. Jason"), and there are these little metal things going down from the finger tips and over the top of the glove that remind me of the bone structure in a hand.I can assure all of you that this is no gardening tool, this thing was obviosly designed for the sole purpose of slaughtering people.Very cool. This coupled with whatever they reveal at Comic-Con should be more than enough to get everyone even more excited about this film, and maybe even win over a few of the haters. And by the way, the girl they got to play Nancy is pretty sexy. Hot chicks + psyco's who kill you in you're sleep = me getting my ass to the theater this April. |

Kill the talking...I'm grateful due to the fact that if they aren't remade we'd never see'em on the big screen again. With that comment alone Brad thank you. I can't wait for your NOES remake. |

I've never submitted anything to Platinum Douche, nor would I take any assignments from them. I am not a troll. If I was, then Mr. Disgusting could ban me from this site. I have left plenty of positive posts on here for projects that I am generally excited about, but this project pisses me the hell off. From the disrespect shown to Wes Craven, to the absolutely horrible script, this production stinks to high heaven. If people are too blind to see that, then fine. Just wait until it comes out and see what I and the rest of the sane people here see already. I will not stop voicing my opinion though. So suck it! |

Mr. Brad Fuller,
Keep up the good work, all the movies you produced I thought were amazing! Can't wait for Nightmare to come out and to see a trailer for it! I am an aspiring actor and one day I WILL work with you. You produce great horror films! Until then, can't wait to see what you will unveil on Friday!

Hey Egg Man, that sript that suposedly "leaked" was a FAKE.Oh, and you constantly attack people for defending Platinum Dunes, why don't you just shut the fuck up and stop defending Wes Craven. Now I must give credit where credit is due, while Craven is an amazing visionary, and ideas man, and also a decent writer, he's not all that great of a directer, and I have not once been scared by any of his work.He comes up with truely origional and innovative concepts, and then poorly executes them. And not to mention the fact that you are quick to jump to his defense about PD srewing him by not including him in the remake of his much "beloved" creation, yet don't stop to think that if he loved it so much, he wouldn't have abandoned it after the very first installment, and he would've gone through hell and high water to get his rights back before anyone could remake his film. He's not thowing a bitch fit because he's afraid Platinum Dunes is going to ruin the franchise, he's pissed because there's a chance they might make a better film than he did, and that would prove too cripleing a blow to his massive ego.And before you shoot your mouth off again, and say this is just an opinion, let me just say that your views towards Platinum Dunes are just an opinion, shared only by you on this board, and I think I speak for everyone else here when I say, no one wants to hear it.This is a place for civil discussion and positive attitudes, not negativity. So please take yours someplace else. You're only looking for attention, and if you continue you be imature, we're all simply going to ignor you. |
 | Freddyisking 11:17pm, July 22, 2009
First Freddy pic is awesome...the poster is UNBELIEVABLY bad-ass....and just for the record, I hope the leaked script isn't entirely fake, because I was really looking forward to the pre-title sequence, particularly the first kill. |
 | I AM THE EGG MAN 2:11am, July 23, 2009
You can live under the illusion that the leaked script was fake, but you are severely retarded if you do. I will admit that the leaked script was probably not the finished shooting script, but it is so poor, that anything but a page one rewrite from an entirely different screenwriter means that this film will be terrible. As for Craven, if you knew the man, you'd know that he is entirely devoid of any ego whatsoever, and he is really one of the most decent human beings in the business. The man sold his rights to the franchise back in 1984, and that was a mistake that I'm sure he regrets to this day, but that doesn't mean that someone from Platinum Douche could not have extended an olive branch to him to at least show that there were no hard feelings. Hell, even the money hungry piece of shit Akkad's don't treat John Carpenter this way with regards to the sequels and remakes. As for:
"This is a place for civil discussion and positive attitudes, not negativity." You are in serious need of a reality check. This is a message board. You are not entitled to nothing but positive comments with regards to your precious little wannabe horror film. I have a feeling that you work for Platinum Dunes, or are in some way connected to this production. Hell, the spelling and grammar mistakes make me think that you might even be Douchebag in Chief- Michael Bay. There are a lot of similarities between your rants here, and a certain infamous email that floated around Hollywood a few weeks before that abortion of a film Transformers 2 was released upon the masses. Regardless of who you are, I know one thing for sure. All of these so-called "horror" films will be forgotten years from now. I have no problem with remakes, but I do have a problem with people who have no talent, making those remakes. Try harder Platinum Douche, and one day, you may end up making something that rivals the only halfway decent thing you've made so far; the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Oh, and if this is Brad Fuller, you are really in no position to say anything after the debacle that was Friday the 13th. You should have been begging us all for forgiveness on that piece of shit. You have a lot to prove after all the crap you've been associated with, so calling people who voice an opinion that calls into question the quality of the films you produce, morons, is just a petulant little cry-baby thing to do. Why don't you spend your time making something that is actually good rather than blogging about how great the film you are making is? |
 | I AM THE EGG MAN 2:37am, July 23, 2009
Another thing that makes me think that Keepin it Reel works for Platinum Douche is the fact that their account was created the day before this blog entry was put out, and the fact that the responses are clearly cut and pasted since there are no spaces between the sentences. It's almost as if this person was gearing up for a little war of words! |

Egg Man, I am not totally convinced that Keeping it Real works for Dunes but I am pretty sure he works within or is close to the Hollywood film industry because of the general and boring statements he made regarding my first post regarding industry relationships and how Hollywood is a very small world etc. blah blah blah. He didn't read my message very well and misconstued many of the points that happened with my screenplay. What I really would like is honest answers from this group. Keep in mind, I am not a hater or a troll. I've worked in feature films since 1990 and got Hollywood representation for my spec F13 3-D sequel screenplay. Believe me when I tell you that 98% of aspiring screenwriters do not get reputable literary represenatation in Hollywood. The script has to be over and beyond good in order for that to happen. Now for the question: My story's main characters are in their twenties, it brings back survivors from the eary F13 films (the good ones), it makes sense to newcomers and diehard fans alike, it is for the most part REAL - meaning it could actually believably happen, it doesn't conflict at all with the previous reboot, it is scarier and more entertaining and shocking than the reboot, there is more violence, gore and nudity in this story than the last one, it finally answers the mystery as to why Jason never dies, it is not a sequel at all like "Jason Goes to Hell" or "Jason X", it finally explains the mystery of how Jason was able to do the killing in part 2 when it was his Mother that did the murdering in Part 1 for avenging her "dead" drowning victim eight year old son, and the movie would be in 3-D. Based on everything said - would this be a type of Friday the 13th that would peek your interests that you would consider going to the theater for?
I really hope that Platinum Dunes will reconsider. Normally, no screenwriter in their right mind would ever post stuff like this on a fan page or go public. I feel I have to do everything in my power to at least get Brad to obtain my script submission from my agent and actually READ it for himself. I don't think Brad or anyone at Platinum Dunes are actually so upset that they couldn't possibily work with me. The fact that they may be afraid of doing a 3-D picture is another story altogether. What he should know is that the 3D supervisors I work with do not increase normal budgets and correctly budget in pre-production for 3-D. As producers, and PD especially, they should have a thick skin so I assume that they wouldn't be harbouring hurt feelings if they realize they would want to take on my exciting script. All I am saying to PD is read the friggin script already - I am offering you the hottest next best thing you could ever imagine. Please reconsider. |

Hahaha... Fuller owns. It's a shame your blogs have to be wasted on this banter. I've been checking this page relentlessly over the past few months hoping to get a few treats that I couldn't find anywhere else. None the less, love the recently released pic and poster. Looks like you're going to treat Freddy with the same respect you did Jason and Leatherface. Love your remakes, the best in the business... and I've been saying that all along! |
 | I AM THE EGG MAN 3:22pm, July 23, 2009
I don't know if I would enjoy the film being in 3-D, but I do think the idea of bring back Amy Steele's character, and Tommy Jarvis, would be great. |
 | clubnick 3:54pm, July 23, 2009
Egg man, go see "The Final Destination" in 3-D next month and then you will be able to make a better opinion on 3-D. If you aren't sure of where to find a digital 3-D theater in your area you can find it on www.RealD.com. |
 | keepin It Reel 4:47pm, July 23, 2009
I find it amusing Egg Man, that you think I might be Michael Bay, or that I work for Platinum Dunes at all.For one thing, while I don't have anything against Bay personally, (cause let's face it, I don't know him personally and nor do any of you), I can't say I particularly enjoy any of his films because he tends to sacrifice story and natural character development in favor of things that go boom.I didn't fancy the first "Transformers" because the story was unrealistic, and the only reason I went to see the second one was because Megan Fox was in it, and she's unbelievably hot.(Not to mention, I found it a bit in bad taste that in one of the scenes there is a gigantic poster of "Bad Bays II", making it seem as though Bay was paying homage to himself). So now that that's been cleared up, I can also assure you that I work for neither Platinum Dunes, nor any other production company or film studio because I am currently still a college student. Also, I've never seen either the "Hitcher", nor have I seen The "Unborn", and I'm inclined to think that someone who works for Platinum Dunes would make a point to see the finished product of something they helped see to fruition.I simply have a love for movies and an understanding of the film making process that most of the general public simply do not.(You included apparently)I don't just watch films, I study every aspect of them, and the people who make them, so that's how I know that film makers tend to re-use the same people on all of their films for many reasons. Not because I work in the film industry, though I wish I did.The reason I started this account a few days ago is because of all the hater's, mindlessness, and complete lack of respect that had been infesting this board.I had been following this forum because I wanted to see what they were doing with the new "Friday the 13" film and I prefer to get my information from the horses mouth.Once they announced they were also remaking "Nightmare on Elm Street", I continued to follow this board and at the time, very few people seemed to be defending PD, yet there always seemed to be a surplus of hatefull assholes who get on here and say shit that that was comlpetely out of line, and making Platinum Dunes out to be the anti-christ of films.(A title only befitting of Joel Shumacher). Now it seems the tables have turned and the only haters left on this forum are Egg Man, and a couple of scorned writers out for childesh revenge.Oh, and about my grammer, it's called a fucking typo, and before you correct anyone else's, you'd better go back and proof read your own posts, cause you're never short of a few mistakes yourself |
 | chip85 7:11pm, July 23, 2009
ahhh keeping it reel, i think your one of the best additions to this board, clubnick, i dont mind you too much, but this is a nightmare on elm street board and im sure brad isnt going to read this and say "hell send your script through" eggman i have no description for you, your just plain boring. But I must say I like seeing you get worked up and keepin it reel puttin you in your place lol |
 | matty91@live.co.uk 7:43pm, July 23, 2009
Hey, just thought id say. (in my opinion) people will instantly hate a remake. Why? because people say it devalues the old one, and if the new one is not as good, then thats what people will remember!
I say- bollocks! If you dont like remakes dont support them.
If you do like remakes - Lets make Platinum Dunes (one of the best, most inventive, and interesting production companies) the most succesful in the world. Because lets face it, this is where all the descent horror movies are coming from these days!!! |
 | deanbarry 7:53pm, July 23, 2009
Egg Man, I have decided, after a couple days off to cool down from your vitriolic diatribe, that I don't care what you have to say. So please, voice your sadonic opinions as much as you like. It's a funny read. I got more important stuff going on in my life to let you bug me. Peace out man. Keep it real ;) |
 | AnoesVsFt13th 6:11pm, July 24, 2009
I'm not hating on you Brad but I honestly feel like you've put more effort and emphasis as well as care with 'Nightmare on Elm street' then with 'Friday the 13th'. I love both series but please don't make another corny F13. The dialogue was so shitty. I want Jason to have a real enemy and a real fight, not some half-assed 10 minute finale.

 | Spruce 11:05pm, July 24, 2009
Good on ya' Brad well written, i'm a huge fan of the Dunes boys and love the fact that you bring back my favourite film characters for me to see. Honestly sometimes i don't always think certain films are that great, but others i love, thats just human nature, not everyone can like everything someone else does. So why hate? Just move on i say. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see Freddy again! |
 | AshAbuse 6:04pm, July 25, 2009
I love all the PD movies!!! I never thought I'd get to see Jason or Freddy back in the cinema again. You gave Leatherface the back story he deserved, and influenced a damn near A grade (1 point off) project, on how Jason Voorhees is a victim. And all because I saw your remake!!! I'll always love the orignal Nightmare, but this is the Nightmare for this generation. Maybe 25 years from now it will be remade again, and all of this hate will continue. But until then ready or not... here he comes... whether you like it or not. See you April 30th. |
 | cherrybomb 8:14pm, July 27, 2009
Egg Man, did Fuller ever take you up on your offer to give him "some ideas that I would love to put down into a treatment for this film... free of charge" back in January? Seems like you were far more interested in the NOES reboot back then but now you're spewing venom all over the place. Hey, rejection is tough but even the best of us are on the receiving end sometimes. Be the better person and learn from it, and keep trying to make your stuff better rather than make yourself look like a complete douchebag on an internet forum. |
