Friday the 13th a week away... some DVD news!
7:11pm, February 8, 2009

Friday the 13th (2009) One SheetIt has been a busy weekend. Drew and I spent Saturday at Comic-Con, in New York with Derek and Jared. It was amazing. Derek went into this weekend as a virtually unknown actor and came out of it unable to walk freely without being asked for pictures and autographs. Jared, the consummate professional, and great guy, has a fan base from Supernatural and as such is very comfortable with all the attention. Nonetheless, both Jared and Derek authentically want to interact with the fans and have great interest in what the fans have to say. We all were very pleased what the fans had to say at Comic Con.

Last night, at the Empire 25 in Times Square we screened the movie for the first time in front of an audience. It was an amazing experience. The audience loved the movie. I couldn't have asked for a more receptive audience. They were terrified- at one point I was in the restroom and the sounds of the people screaming at Jason could be heard all the way in the bathroom. As many of you know Mama Voorhees and young Jason are now in the movie- due to fan response. Well, the fans were right, and the scenes plays very well. There are two other scenes that we changed substantially from the "test cut". I don't want to give any spoilers away here, but I am curious if you can figure it which two scenes I am talking about?

Tonight (Monday) is the premiere at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. We wish we could have given Bloody-Disgusting more tickets but the demand for tickets from all the studios (there are three) and more than 13 cast members and crew limited our ability to get everyone who wanted to be there- in. On a personal note this is a special premiere for me because for the first time my wife and I have decided to allow our oldest son to see my work. My mother, on the other hand is not allowed. This movie is way to hardcore for her.

We are finishing up on the Unrated DVD this week. That DVD will rock! We have a different cut of movie, that not only has more violence and sex, but it has an additional storyline that is totally different from the movie you will see in theaters. Its not like we just cut a few things differently, the DVD version will feel like a different movie. For those of you who love the theatrical cut, that will also be on the DVD also.

Looking forward to the rest of the week, we are having a screening in Austin on Thursday. We shot the movie there and it feels only fitting to show it there. If you can't be in Austin in many cities there will be 12:01 showings on Thursday night.

As I have said many times, I am very proud of Friday 13th and appreciate your support from the day we started working on it.

I will be living on this board starting Thursday and look forward to your comments.

As of Friday I will be moving to Elm Street.

L7square 8:37pm, February 8, 2009

Can't wait to see the movie. My wife and I are playing hookie from work so we can catch the 12:01 am showing down the street. The idea of having both the unrated and theatrical cuts on one DVD is a great idea.

massdeath 10:15pm, February 8, 2009

This movie looks good. I hear Jason cooks a camper in a sleeping bag...that's some vicious shit right there. I look forward to checking this out when I return to the states. Remember to be respectful of Freddy though, he's a whole different can of worms...

slasher_12 10:19pm, February 8, 2009

Please put both cuts on ONE dvd. I don't want to buy 2.... but i want to see both =)

rooboo80 10:26pm, February 8, 2009

I'm confused...this "additional storyline"...is it going to be added to what already exists or is it going to change the movie around dramatically? Cuz if I love the theatrical cut I want MORE stuff added to what I already love...I don't want to get an entirely different movie with different outcomes!!

EMAN 11:57pm, February 8, 2009

Hey, I was at that screening, good time. Was scared for Jared, he almost got swamped at the beginning. Was a lil disapointed with Derek. THE GUY LEFT!!!!!!!!! MAN. I was sitting right behind him and he booked a** like ten minutes before the movie ended. lol. Overall a kewl experience the movie was very good.

deanbarry 1:45am, February 9, 2009

slasher12 and rooboo80...reread the post. He clearly states that both cuts will be on the one dvd. Soooooooo looking forward to this.

francesco 2:54am, February 9, 2009

4 fucking days. can't waitttttttt!!!!!!

Cybgo 3:10am, February 9, 2009

I went to the screening also, the audience were crazy about the movie :) which was perfect, I really had a great time with this, and i'm sure this film will have a huge success !! IT DESERVES IT!! it has everything a fan can ask for ! Thank you all the crew for making one scary efficient movie, cant wait for the next ones ;-)

disanti 3:58am, February 9, 2009

I can't wait for this. It's felt like an eternity!

Zombie Dude 5:57am, February 9, 2009

The dvd sounds like it's going to be tearing from the seams (if dvd's had seams). I can't wait.

jrsjr81 12:54pm, February 9, 2009

I want an unrated version, theatrical version and a totally uncut version of the film on DVD and Blu-Ray! :-)

nricexbox 2:42pm, February 9, 2009

and when will be released in 3D? 2 movies for the price of one? and both with Jason...that's just awesome. still in slight disbelief that Jason is coming back to the theaters.

jasonlives1986 2:49pm, February 9, 2009

even though I have my concerns, I still have yet to see anything that says this will be the disaster that Halloween remake was. Is there any truth that if this movie is as successful as it could be that August 13th 2010 has already been set for the next one? Thats over a year and a half away, with the way the Saw movies work, the way the Friday series used to work, and what the audience expects from these movies, that seems like a reasonable time frame to me.

jkrouskop 2:58pm, February 9, 2009

Thanks for the updates, Brad. Great to hear that the movie was well-received, and I'm thrilled that the "Director's Cut", as it were, will actually be different enough to merit such a cut existing. Too often, studios add 20 seconds of footage and ask me to shell out the money to buy both prints on DVD, despite the fact that the extra frames add nothing to the story. Having both cuts on one DVD will rock!

zombiepulse 3:00pm, February 9, 2009

Brad! When can we hear Jablonsky's score!? I've been going to the site EVERY DAY and highlighting the SOUNDTRACK section with my mouse arrow only to see the heart-sinking COMING SOON text every time. Dying to get a taste of the music. Throw us a bone, Fuller! =p

g1ng3rsnap9ed 5:36pm, February 9, 2009

I will be passing on this latest cash-in of your's, mr. fuller. You'd better not recast Freddy, you filthy bastard. (Just a reminder.)

the devils reject 7:08pm, February 9, 2009

i am the biggest fan of friday the 13th i wish i could have benn in the premiere the person who won the ticket is the luckies person in the world.

staindFAN 7:34pm, February 9, 2009

Platinum dunes, you guys fucking rock! I have really enjoyed all the films you have released thus far. I have seen them all in the theater and own them all on DVD. Friday the 13th will be no different. I will be there this weekend. Im very excited to hear about the DVD, sounds like it will be packed with the good stuff. Good luck on the new Nightmare on Elm Street. Any chance we can get another Texas Chainsaw Massacre out of you guys? =)

syn79 8:39pm, February 9, 2009

Im so damn stoked its ridiculous.

V FOR VOODOO 10:06pm, February 9, 2009

Which theater in Austin are you guys gonna be at, and can anyone just buy a ticket?

Z ... 10:39pm, February 9, 2009

If the fans were right about Mama Voorhees and young Jason, Then why aren't they right about Robert Englund in NOES Remake? And I'm with staindFAN about another TCM movie.

DekkerHead07 12:42am, February 10, 2009

Robert Englund said he won't do another NOES movie. He's past his prime on that to do something that long in that type of makeup. I'm sure that whoever they get will do the character justice and make it truely scary like the first one and New Nightmare was.

jerryolsson 1:19am, February 10, 2009

As a Swede, I will be proud that I will be watching this new Friday the 13th movie in Swedish cinemas. We have not seen a Jason movie in cinemas in my country in over twenty years. This will be kickass.

bbedwards 2:24am, February 10, 2009

I saw an advance screening tonight. I was never the biggest F13 fan, but I have to say this definitely exceeded my expectations. Nice job overall, good mix of humor, gratuitous t&a and kills. IMO this is the best modern horror remake/reboot by a mile. I think F13 fans will be pretty psyched. My only major gripes with the film...(read at your own risk)-SPOILER ALERT-1-The underground tunnels were lame. Definitely felt contrived to me, and didn't feel like F13th to me either. (I know we've seen him in space and on a cruise ship, now the tunnels feels a bit like Jason meets TCM) Good thing not a whole lot of time is spent there. 2-Jason holding a girl captive? Like I said I'm far from the biggest F13th fan, but from my cloudy recollection of the films, I don't remember Jason ever holding anyone captive, (again, we're treading on TCM territory)-just usually blasting something through their faces. Alright then I don't want to say any more and completely ruin it for you...

bubba68 12:34pm, February 10, 2009

I'm going to the 12:01 thursday night and I am counting the hours!!! It looks awesome! As for the DVD, sounds like it is going to kick major ass! By the way, I also would not mind another TMC from Platinum Dunes??? Both those films were exceptional.

jhowington32 4:09pm, February 10, 2009

I hear they are shooting elm street in chicago! I live there, There are so many elm st. esce neighbor hoods around where i grew up! cant wait!

g1ng3rsnap9ed 6:31pm, February 10, 2009

Hope this bombs at the box office Friday. :)

I don't think Robert Englund would turn down the chance to play Freddy again. Someone made that up to get people like me to shut up.

evilgooey 10:11pm, February 10, 2009

I just got back from the 7:30 advanced screening here in Pittsburgh... and all I can say is WOW! Tom Savini was in attendance, and the movie was better than I expected. Derek Mears is THE BEST JASAON EVER! And that's coming from a life long fan. The acting was top notch. The effects were fantastic. The women were HOT! I'm not going to post any spoilers... but there was one scen where I though... (especially after the re-make of TCM, which I loved) that HOLY SHIT! THEY'RE GONNA FUCK UP THE WHOLE FRANCHISE!!! But thank God I was wrong. I will be seeing the movie again at Midnight on Thursday, and a few more time ove the weekend. Thank You For A Great Movie Experience! And Long Live Jason Voorhees & Friday the 13th

jimmystewart 2:57am, February 11, 2009

the reviews are coming in and they aren't good. nice to aintitcoolnews to mention that the score sux without harry!

g1ng3rsnap9ed 8:27am, February 11, 2009

I've read quotes where Robert Englund has stated that he wouldn't mind playing Freddy one more time if platinum dunes asked him to. Keep in mind: platinum dunes are liars!! They lied about not remaking F13 (They claimed that they were only making a sequel. Remember?), they lied about remaking A Nightmare On Elm Street, and now they are lying about Robert Englund wanting nothing to do with the new Nightmare. (Dare I call it that.) They're the ones that are trying to shut the fans up. The funny thing is, is that they actually think that they're doing the Horror genre a favor when they're the ones that are killing it.

matty91@live.co.uk 2:03pm, February 11, 2009

Nightmare on Elm street is very different to "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" because Nightmare on Elm Street was all about the characters and Robert Englund. I think to make it work you need a very very very good cast on Nightmare remake. Blood wont work in that remake, sorry guys. You need upright scares. blood. and a dam good robert englund lookalike. feel free to email me back matty91@live.co.uk

bbedwards 3:11pm, February 11, 2009

"The decision isn’t mine, They haven’t talked to me so I figure that they are going with a whole different interpretation and a different cast. If I was approached it would be a challenge but sure, YEAH. But it sounds to me that they want to reinterpret it.” http://www.horroryearbook.com/542928/exclusive-robe rt-englund-would-play-freddy-krueger-if-asked

francesco 3:47pm, February 11, 2009

to jymmistewart, sorry but that shitty site, AICN, loved the movie. and the reviews are good

hawaiiwarriors1 11:45pm, February 11, 2009

platinum dunes say it's a reboot or retelling of F13 1-4 or 2-3 the reason why i ask is because it lacked what made the first four films great...SUSPENSE/MANFREDINI'S SCORE...when ya'll get to watch it or for those people who already did, dont you agree?for instance the run/chase scenes would of been awesome if it had MANFREDINI'S music...it would of got the whole audience at the edge of their seats...or the SUSPENSE building up to each kill would of got the audience shivering in their seats...the new friday was boring...i'll admit besides mrs.voorhees scene the first 20 mins was good but i could guarantee you that if manfredini was the composer this movie would be freaking AWESOME!...now getting back to this film being reboots of the first four films...it wasnt!..it was more like parts 1-2...sack head jason/beheading of mrs.voorhees/mrs.voorhees decaying head surrounded by candles... ***so PLEASE PLATINUM DUNES*** make Friday the 13th 2 and bring back Harry Manfredini/victor miller or Ron Kurz as writers and hire a director with the vision like steve miner...

Z ... 1:12am, February 12, 2009

Mr. Fuller, since us fans are the ones that will be watching these movies, why not give us what we want to see? I hate to sound like a broken record, but no mater what message board I'm at or who I'm talking to, for every 1 person who want's a new Freddy, there are 5 people who want Robert Englund. Like in The Hitcher, Sean Bean is a BRILLIANT actor, but Rutger Hauer was born to play The Hitcher and even the best actor in the world can't replace him. Same with Robert Engund.

The Wraith 1:53am, February 12, 2009

In one sense I feel bad that you have to take all this shit for re-making movies, but then again if your not listening to what fans want and giving them what you think they want then I guess the bashing is fitting. I guess I'd vote for robert englund over a new person. yeah he's getting up there in age but he is still pretty energetic.

francesco 4:14am, February 12, 2009

i can hope to hesr "we'll make part 2" as soon as monday!

TheMadMime 10:09am, February 12, 2009

Seriously though... why in the hell would Jason sharpen his machete? If his machete became dull, the Jason I know would simply find ANOTHER RANDOM WEAPON to kill with and not go around with the machete glued to his hand like Platinum Dunes is seeming to want. Once more, if he's as brutal and strong as everyone is wanting him to be, why would he even NEED a sharpened blade? Whoever came up with that scene is an idiot, and thank God that scene is apparently not in the final cut.

Wings1295 11:00am, February 12, 2009

Already purchased 4 tickets for tomorrow! Cannot wait!

francesco 12:45pm, February 12, 2009

$$$$$$$$$$ = sequel

CampBlood1980 1:01pm, February 12, 2009

Can't wait for tomorrow!!! I've had doubt's, but this movie is getting good review's, so I'm pumped. The only bad thing I've heard about this movie is Jablonsky's score. Aintitcool says that there's barely any of Manfredini's music in it. Oh well, maybe the sequel will;)

disanti 1:48pm, February 12, 2009

Samuel Bayer, nice. Going tonight to see F13th! CAN'T WAIT!!!

g1ng3rsnap9ed 9:23pm, February 12, 2009

Come on platinum dunes, for once: The fans say that they want Robert Englund, they NEED Robert Englund. Give 'em what they want!

CampBlood1980 12:38pm, February 13, 2009

I haven't seen this movie yet, I will tonight, but all the other sites are ripping on how shitty the score was. I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!

voorhees213 4:02pm, February 13, 2009

Happy Friday the 13th!!! I will be seeing it in about an hour and a half - I can't fucking wait!

disanti 4:18pm, February 13, 2009

Saw it last night with my housemate and I'm going again tonight with the GF. I must say I did enjoy it for the most part. I think like any true fan there are things I wouldn't say were bad, but to use the old cliche "I would have done it like yadda yadda yadda." Overall I loved the story and I liked the characters. There were just a few scenes that were cut to fast and a couple of death tools that were passed up. I REALLY wanted him to use that bug zapper! haha Anyway, that you for reviving the series. I hope you do a sequel.

massdeath 4:49pm, February 13, 2009

So far the reviews of F13 have been fanboy positive and critic negative. I'm still hoping for the best. I know it's a F13th film but I still want it to be an overall good movie by horror standards. Unfortunately I'll have to wait over a week to see it :(. As for Freddy, Brad don't listen to the few fools out there. Robert England HAS to be replaced! He's too old and this is a remake anyway. I can't wait to hear ANOES news. Peace.

jrsjr81 5:06pm, February 13, 2009

The reviews of F13 have actually been a lot more fanboy negative than positive! Massdeath I don't know what the hell you've been looking at but a lot of "true" fans are saying that it sucks certain/various parts of the human body. I don't think that it's going to be that bad. Come on now!

CMYKid 9:55pm, February 13, 2009

Just watched the new F13th and all I can say is... Elm Street kids, we´re fucked!!! Congrats Brad, you guys really know how to ruin the classics. You might as well just hire Rob Zombie already... a match made in remake-hell!

JAY13 11:15pm, February 13, 2009

I thought the movie was alot of fun. Kills were pretty good...but not very memorable. I hope they didn't waste much of the budget on the score. Was there a score???? We've seen filmmakers insist on using a uniquie score for franchises...and I can't remember it working out too well. For part 2, you MUST bring back a score similar to the original movies. Manfredini's score was extremely important to the original Fridays. This movie's score was so subtle that it was non-existant. At least try something memorable...something frantic.

francesco 3:25am, February 14, 2009

i love it. it's my best fourth in the franchise. good act and athe best jason so far. sorry kane, but derek rulez!!! I hope for the sequel. the only bad things is the music why u didn't use the original soundtrack? i loved and...about critics... 30% of good critics is not that bad for an horror movie. at least it's better than that awfull halloween remake!

francesco 4:30am, February 14, 2009

but...is this true??? http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/smason/2009/02 /13/estimates-5/

Wlad 5:50am, February 14, 2009

Bastards. You killed Jenna! I wanted her to live. Really good movie. Jason hasn't been this badass since 'The New Blood'... and that was twenty-one years ago! Padalecki was a good male lead. On par with the old series' best, Tom Mathews from 'Jason Lives'. Amanda Righetti not bad, but Danielle Panabaker was a lot more likable. Great kills (the two killed in the lake were my favorites). Good sense of humour. Great to see a real Jason movie once again, free of gimmicks. Keeping the original mythology intact was a good move. And the two new elements (Jason taking a hostage and his underground lair) are acceptable. Any complaints? Yeah, should have kept the original Manfredini score. Other than that. I'm very pleased. Please make another one.

sean bateman 5:50am, February 14, 2009

Saw the film last night and i have to say well done guys, i had a blast. Tits, gore and an entire other film condensed into a 20 minute prolouge, fantastic! i will say this though, you definately need to up the ante on the killings in the next one, they were cool but not quite as inventive, bloody or lingering as i would have liked and were was harry manfredinis music? also can we have the title coming through glass or something next time. Also dangling the prospect of death via woodchipper and not ever stcking someone in it, bad form. Still this was a great and superior entry in the friday series, more of these and less every year saws please. Also shout out to derek mears, you are the best jason yet!

sean bateman 5:52am, February 14, 2009

sorry i wrote "also" so many times like a twat.

SilverAG 8:31am, February 14, 2009

Wlad! No such spoilers in first sentence! I haven't seen the movie yet!

francesco 11:33am, February 14, 2009

20$ its first day at the box office??? Holy shit!

jrsjr81 11:58am, February 14, 2009

I liked the Friday the 13th movie. My main gripes though are we don't get to see a whole lot of Jason at all especially with the burlap sack. We don't really get to see him unmasked. And some of the kills are totally bloodless. How can a machete going into someone's head not be bloody? Also the decapitation of Mrs. Voorhees is off-screen and bloodless. What the hell?

killingkarma 12:06pm, February 14, 2009

killingkarma 12:08pm, February 14, 2009

It's hard to believe fans of the original films -- especially the first four -- find anything enjoyable about this remake. The new film is joyless and limp. The first films weren't genius but they WERE fun. This entry has touches from the early "Fridays" but they're half heartedly executed. I don't care how much technical skill this crew has over its predecessors. There was a palpable passion evident in the earlier efforts that's absent here. Everything about this film feels like an empty exercise. *Spoiler ahead* Just compare the final moments of this movie with the similar endings of Parts I and II (admittedly Part III's jump scare was weak). You can still watch those and find your heart quickening at the anticipation of what you know is going to happen. Sure, they were "Carrie" moments, but they were done with relish and care... and they worked. Here it seems the filmmakers believe that simply having Jason jump out of the lake will evoke the same response in the audience. It doesn't. The execution is shoddy. I don't want to prevent anyone from seeing the film, and if you're a horror movie or "Friday" fan, no negative review will keep you from it anyway (it didn't stop me). This is just my little, useless rant against uninspired work. There's nothing wrong with filmmakers remaking beloved movies, or fans (and non-fans) of the originals wanting to see them. It would just be nice if the producers brought in some key people who seemed to genuinely like and understand the product they're creating.

Wlad 2:06pm, February 14, 2009

Sorry, SilverAG. My bad.

SilverAG 3:27pm, February 14, 2009

No hard feelings... You guys are lucky. The premiere of F13 in my country will be in May so I have to wait for a while. That sucks! Anyways - I'm glad it WILL BE screening in my country:-)

girlscoutstalker 4:27pm, February 14, 2009

I really enjoyed this movie. Seen it 2wice already. I LOVE the franchise and they did a great job bringing Jason back. Although Jason getting the mask wasn't as epic as they made it out to be I love how they took everything we didn't see from Part 3 and put their own spin on it. I've never had a holy shit did Jason just do that to him/her moment in a Friday movie until I saw the sleeping bag death. And the Ax part..my sister says in the theatre..HE'S RUNNING!???! He is bad ass. And when I feel like I want some old school Friday i'll just watch the DVD's.My only complaint in the entire movie is that I live in NJ and you can't pump your own gas..but otherwise Great Job!!

rcinvb 9:20pm, February 14, 2009

I really enjoyed the film, HOWEVER, why not use more of the original score? The editing was crap in parts, why would Clay and Jenna chase after Jason after he just killed the others? (They didnt know he had Whitney at this point.) The ending? Why in the heck would they take Jason's body to dump into the lake? Are they just going to leave town w/o telling anyone what happened? Are they going into town and tell but then be blamed for the murders b/c they got rid of the murderers body? Again, really liked it but I will never understand how in making a movie PLOT HOLES such as this are allowed. It makes no sense. You put out a product that isn't as good as it can be.

Alias74 10:03am, February 15, 2009

Before I say anything about F13, Mr. Fuller and Mr. Form - I LOVE Platinum Dunes, and what you guys do, and I wish you all the success (despite how people can be vitriolic about remakes). ALSO please consider actor Bradley Stryker for the role of Freddy Krueger...I swear I am not an agent, but I saw him recently on Supernatural Season 4 episode 11 Family Remains and it struck me that there was just something there - the potential for intensity, his acting, he has the right facial features and here's the scary thing: He's kinda attractive which would make Freddy all the more to fear and completely screw with the audience! Just suggesting...hoping for Mr. Englund but I know how that goes! So Friday the 13th!!!!...I read the comments here and I see what people say about inconsistent actions, plot holes, etc., AND the hardest part for me was trying to put aside the entire franchise and watch it with new eyes and I have to say I LOVED IT!!!! First of all, the screenplay was done by Shannon and Swift (story by Wheaton) and I have to admit their work on Freddy Vs. Jason KILLED - That movie, it's relaunch of both iconic serial killers was just MAGIC, and Shannon and Swift brought that same energy here and really re-launched Jason as a crafty, intelligent hunter forced to live on his own in the wilderness (thereby explaining his savagery and his ability to track and kill people). THAT beginning prologue all the way up to the title card which keeps the mythology intact, retains the tried and true (albeit politically incorrect tone of the original series' film - sex and drugs = death), and just punches the viewer in the juggular was brilliant! And I very much enjoyed all of the loving nods to the series (the burlap mask from Part 2, the hanging and machete-ing of Jason in the barn from 3, the glimpse of the wheelchair from part 2 in the mines, and even the twist on famous Jason kills - the infamous sleeping bag dispatch, the eyegougings, keeping the female victim quiet then killing her, the arrow kill, the girl out the window in her dress shirt). Sure sure...there are some plot holes and some 'WHY did they do that?' moments as discussed above...but honestly, I was TERRIFIED of Derek Mears' interpretation and despite missing Kane Hodder (who I have a sad super-crush on) and Ken Kirzinger (amazing stunt guy), Mears KILLED the role. The cast was absolutely amazing and beautiful to look at (Padalecki needs film work - underappreaciated if you ask me)...again credit Shannon and Swift for foisting a Psycho-like plot twist involving Dannielle Panabaker (which I did not see coming....BALLS, boys...BALLS!) and I also like the twist involving the sister. And I might add I absolutely TREASURED Marcus Nispel's direction and Daniel C. Pearl's cinematography. The film looked GORGEOUS - golden yellows and greens for the daytime scenes, and stunning inky blacks and moonlit blues with those great light flares you get with anamorphic (and THANK you for going Digital Intermediate and NOT skip bleaching the film!!!!!!! At least not that it looked like...) Nispel got what he wanted from the cast without forcing the behavior (except maybe Van Winkle's character...) and HELLO!!!! That kinetic pan from Jason's kill of the Sheriff THROUGH the door and wall to the other side to follow the characters running off screen-right is gonna be duplicated in other films (mark my words)...BRILLIANT!!! Personally I appreaciated and loved loved loved this film! I hope it cleans up at the box office and again much much respect to Platinum Dunes and I can't wait for future endeavors!

the_bat91 4:32pm, February 15, 2009

CHARISMA! The new freddy needs charisma, THAT is what got audiences loving the joker last summer, a villain who does such horrendous things but u just have to love him, yet at the same time care for the main characters as we all did. Lets not forget we're not going to see horror to be scared anymore, we go to see the kills, there's absolutely nothing u can do to scare us anymore so inject some charisma into freddy, make him scarily and disgustingly handsome, and then the only thing that can scare the audience is after the movie when they think back at all the nasty things freddy has done, ''is it right to actually like that guy..''. Charisma wont make u a billion dollars but it will, like jack nicholsons Joker, make the fanboys shut the fuck up!

Brad, Andrew, Michael. Great, great movie. My favorite Friday. Although I'd like to bring this site to your attention: http://watchnewmoviesnow.blogspot.com/2009/02/friday-13th-2 009.html You should tell New Line/Paramount about this. Don't want this movie getting online.

You guys did an awesome job with Friday the 13th! I was really impressed and it was a great movie to see in theaters! I thought it had a powerful beginning...hell when the words Friday the 13th hit the screen all I heard were people saying "that's just the beginning of the movie" It was amazing! I just wanted to let you guys know how much I loved it. Great job!

Golden Machete 9:41pm, February 15, 2009

Brad, PLEASE, read this review: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758746/board/thread/13052773 2 It's the best so far. It basically talks about the PACING of the movie. It was my biggest complaint too: it feels SO RUSHED. The only other problem I have with this movie is the score. I'm sorry, but AWFUL. The next movie NEEDS a score similar do Harry Manfredini's and more of the "ki ki ki ma ma ma". Nispel's excuse for the lack of the song is poor. Anyway, great movie.

Hello! Can you please email me. I am wanting to audition for a role in Nightmare on Elm Street. Thank you so much for your time. I am 18 year old male.

Hordak 12:09am, February 16, 2009

Jason kicked ass! JASON is BACK baby! With a vengence I might add. Saw it Friday at 10:00pm cause the earlier showing had sold out! Good sign for a horror film fan who wants more F13 films to be made! If I have one complaint its that the kills weren’t violent or gory enough. I mean not that thats what makes a good horro flick or that I’m a psycho who needs to have Saw type gore in all my movies but I’ve become to expect certain things from our boy Jason & violence is one of the things that attracts us to him & the F13 saga. He is strong & manhandles people! Which he only done a little. But Derek was a great Jason & the site & settings were great, classic Jason shit! So yeah should saved some of that R rating for the kills & not so much wasted on the nudity (but we did need SOME!). And I loved the beginning with the flashback and all the nods to some of the classic Jason scenes & actions. I loved how he was reaching out in a scene at the end ala pt 3. But I do hope the last scene was part of a dream sequence like the old ones. Now hurry up & make alot of money so I can have a even better sequel! As for the sequel, some better kills(a little more old school Jason violent type kills), Derek back as Jason (or Kane), if Derek maybe starting transition into “zombie” Jason(still somewhat human acting though) & Tommy Jarvis! Can't wait for the DVD, now on to Freddy & please talk to Robert Englund!

RELEASE DATE ON DVD PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

V FOR VOODOO 8:03pm, February 16, 2009

Way too much pot in the movie, to the point where it was laughable. Everyone thought Jason was a pot farmer. Will the sequel put Jason in manhattan to deal/push his product? Sorry to say it was bad. The TCM remake was SO much better than this one. TCM 2003 was really damn good.

HAWAIIWARRIORS:

makaveddie81 3:13am, February 17, 2009

TO HAWAIIWARRIORS AND OTHERS WHO DOUBTED ME: I told you the film would suck. They changed around too many things - most importantly the score (or lack thereof). There was hardly any music during the film (especially during the TCM old lady scene and the sequence where Mike and Whitney are in Jason's "shack") and it gave the film an unfinished feel to it. Watch the comic-con footage that used the part 2 score and compare it to the garbage Jablonsky pulled off for the final version of the film. Also, like I predicted, the film had unnecessary amounts of comedy, sex, and drugs. Every fucking scene had one of these three elements. This is not a remake, this is a parody of F13th films made by a 12 year old. I hate to say it but, I WAS FUCKING RIGHT!

SamH 12:51pm, February 17, 2009

For a guy who hates to say something, "makaveddie81" sure takes up a lot of words saying it.

UNRATED 12:38am, February 18, 2009

Good because the one you released in theaters was shit. I mean total shit. Maybe you guys can get your heads outta your assholes and actually put some thought into the movie use the money for something good. Instead of me handing you my hard earned money for pure shit. FUCK YOU.

makaveddie it could of been better

hawaiiwarriors1 1:05am, February 18, 2009

To:PLATINUM DUNES here's my idea for the sequel... 3-D version-A Bus full of MASS MURDERERS being transported to the next county but gets into a an Accident near Crystal Lake, but everyone survivesNow the prisoners try to escape by running thru the woods.then jason picks them off one by one...(now let's see what kind of ACTION do these prisoners have). Cam-Corder Version-About A group of Seniors in College filming a Documentary about the History of Crystal lake for extra credit.

makaveddie81 2:44pm, February 18, 2009

That idea has been pitched before and its total crap. Here's a thought, why not have actual CAMPERS in the movie?

Cadaver_Chick 11:22pm, February 19, 2009

The mention of "more sex" in the unrated version of the DVD completely turns me off. Simply because this is coming from the people who will be filming the Nightmare On Elm Street remake. The beauty of Nightmare On Elm Street was that there was NO sex. Sure you could hear the couple in the other room in one of the first scenes of the movie, but you did not SEE the sex. Horror movies now-a-days are just cheap soft-core porn (i.e. Hostel). Sure "sex sells" but that doesn't necessarily mean that you need to have sex in the movie. Cast somebody attractive in the movie (attractive that can ACT) and you'll still draw in a good crowd. If Englund isn't available for the role, it is essential that you thoroughly screen the people auditioning for Freddy. Freddy is very distinctive from the other Horror film killers (Jason, Michael, Leatherface) because he speaks. He HAS personality. Please make the kills creative; that's what Freddy specialized in (e.g. the bed scene with Johnny Depp). The first Nightmare movie is, by far, the best so please do not take parts from the other movies. Stick to the originals. If anything, the original Nightmare simply needs updated; no new plot, no new characters, no new scenery. Stick to the basics. Please.

I Thought Friday The 13th Remake Was Great. It Brought Going Back To the Cinema Back To The Way It Used To Be.... When Splatter Films Were All The Rage, Yes I Know DVD Is Good And Handy But Nothing Beats A Slasher Movie In A Dark Cinema. Dont Stop What Your Doing These Remakes Etc Are Well Made And True To The Originals, Thanx For Having The Balls And Taking The Risk To Bring These Childhood Celebrities Of Mine Back To Life. Also On The Day I Saw Friday the 13th The Cinema Was Packed From All Ages, From New 18 Year old Horror Fans, Right Through To Old Age Pensioners. Well Done Keep Up The good work..... (p.s Is Anybody Thinking Of Remaking Poltergeist - I Mean Like A Really Nasty Version With no Holds Barred ?)

I hope this is the same for England, we only had one version of the new Halloween remake, and it was a crap one where there is a rape scene instead of the one where he kills all of those prison guards. Great movie anyway, can't wait for the DVD release, 27th June in UK

humansoap07 5:57am, March 22, 2009

I can not wait to see part 2. The reboot is my favorite movie of all time. It had everything. They really need to wait on the Nightmare on Elm Street remake/reboot because enough time hasn't passed. Every GREAT remake/reboot came out 29 years after the original. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974-2003, Halloween 1978-2007, Friday the 13th 1980-2009. It's to soon for Freddy. They should focus on another Friday and have it ready for 2010. The original 3 all came out in 3 years. Friday the 13th (1980), Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981), and Friday the 13th Part 3D (1982). Theres nothing wrong with that, it worked then and it works now. Theres a new Saw movie every year and i can't wait for saw 6 this year. I'm going to see Friday the 13th for the 2nd time on Friday March 13th. The only thing i ask is for them NOT to mame Jason like they did to Leatherface. I mean to be an effective chainsaw weilding mainiac you really need 2 arms. Am i right or am i right? The day Jason Voorhees gets his leg chopped off or put through a woodchipper or some other dumb shit like that i'll be FUCKING PISSED!! //////// DEREK MEARS IS A MUST!! ////////

1kidalone 11:09pm, April 7, 2009

I'm not gonna lie or sugar-coat it... The new Friday was terrible... Nispel thinks he's better than he really is. To me Friday the 13th was "horror-porn"... but more porn than horror. It was annoying. The weed thing was stupid, Jason was too smart, the kills were predictable and lame. You guys tried to be sexy & serious without realizing that the whole "Friday the 13th" series and everything related is all about camp! No pun intended. The whole series has always been unbelievably campy so to suddenly try to be serious, I'm really sorry but you guys chose the WRONG MOVIE for that.

RedSwetrAndSclpl 2:07am, April 18, 2009

reading this almost wants to make u excited about the dvd...but hmmm...''official'' word has come out about the dvd...and hmmmm...it sux... am excited for the whole whopping extra 10 mins...but the treatment is nearly disrespect to the movie and series..tcm: the beginning had a better dvd than this (love that movie btw) and that did substantially worse than this movie..so..where the fuck is the balance in that? double dip?..better fuckin be the case (money hungry asses) or the dvd reports are FALSE!

rcinvb 5:29pm, April 23, 2009

Please rethink the Blu-Ray cover. The eyes behind the mask are not correct. It looks fake. REALLY FAKE.

RedSwetrAndSclpl 12:11am, May 11, 2009

all i have to still say...is FUCK YOU GUYS! for this dvd...i know warner bros. is technically to blame, to ram them in the ass with jasons machete...cause really, all their dvds suck, essentially..hmm they are the company behind a movie that made near a billion dollars worldwide (the dark knight) and did u see their dvd. ITS EMBARASSING to them as a company..like theyre hurting as a fuckin company or something...harry potter dvds kinda suck dick to...but here we have 'friday' , a success considering its budget and wat not and they give us this shit..and than they have watchmen, a sorta success considering its budget and thats gettin a reported amazing dvd...i hope theres a statement from platinum dunes trashing this dvd treatment and warner bros. and giving a legit reason for not trying to work for an actualy good dvd...fuck!

Freddyisking 11:15am, June 13, 2009

So early reports coming in are saying there's barely anything different noticeable about the killer cut. One guy who saw it early said the only different thing he noticed was the addition of the sharpening of the machete scene...so I'm guessing we totally are missing out the ultra cool different cut of the movie.

cortes.kevin 11:47pm, June 16, 2009

Just bought Friday The 13th Killer Cut I saw it in theatres and loved it A bit disappointed in the lack of special features but regardless I loved it and I look forward to the sequel

Protecious 10:15pm, July 11, 2009

* The following is reguarding the potential awesomeness of the Friday sequel, I know this was a posting on Freddy but im trying to put this message in alot of your guys' blog postings in hopes it will be read... Hey guys, i wrote already about how using some kind of storyline involving Jason's FATHER is a golden idea, one it's never done before in any of the 12 films... I ALSO thought of another great idea involving Jason's FATHER, and that is this: Ive noticed Jason isnt just "kinda retarded" he's obviously mangled in the face, but this too is also never explained and I think the PERFECT tied together explanation is that Jason's Father ELIAS is the one responsible for Jason's mangled face, because it's OBVIOUS Pamela Voorhees loved Jason too much to ever mangle his face in anyway, so how did it become so? Drowning isnt gonna cut away your face and make it look blistery like in the latest Jason, I liked the latest one, I honestly dont know why so many people complained, everybody wanted Jason to go back to crystal lake, you guys did that, everybody wanted to see young Jason and Pamela, you guys did that too, I can see how you guys really try your best to please the fans more than people appreciate. with that being said, from a huge fan of the franchise and im not against ANY of the 12 films in the franchise, they are all simply slasher films with fun, Id watch a Jason movie over the shitty Saw films anyday. So...to sum it up guys... For the Friday the 13th Sequel consider these ideas: *Include Jason's FATHER in this film some how some way for some reason, my suggested reason is to use a storyline explaining that his father Elias Voorhees was the one responsible for mangling his son Jason's face. *ALSO consider using the idea that perhaps Elias was actually having sex with a counseler while Jason "drowned" or "almost drowned" and that would be a pretty cool revelation as well. I just think there's got to be more to the mangled face idea because there's no reason or logical explanation ever really given. The original films kind of made Jason more grotesque with each film so it was a growing process, but in this remake/reboot he's already mangled as hell...but why? He wasnt mangled when he saw his mom killed just a bit inbred looking, you could even use something wacky like Elias was really like Pamela's brother or cousin to explain the retardation...but that storyline might not be too excepted well. but im just offering my two cents as a fan of this franchise. YOu could also easily insert some kind of idea mentioning that Elias was with the counseler and got caught but fled leaving the girl to defend for herself, and since Pamela is decapitated she never had a chance to go after him next, and so Elias disappeared for years and now has returned (for some reason youd have to make up) to crystal lake either to Help or Kill his boy. *And, although this following was NOT my idea, but from a user who posted it on here somewhere I saw a while back and their idea, which is awesome, is to actually do something involving snow for a damn change, I think it would be quite creepy to see Jason standing there as it is snowing and we pan in slowly all the way up into his eyes waht a awesome creepy moment that would be, but that doesnt mean it has to all take place in snow as I know the dick users are gonna be closed minded on that one, but most certainly it could be considered in the opening of the film and really catch people off guard with interest. I hope you guys consider my thoughts above, and this all was written specifically for Platinum Dunes to read and consider these ideas, I didnt write these for the users because there's always gonna be 1/4 who are closed minded dicks who get mad when they dont get their ba-ba. So, Brad and Andrew...if you guys like the suggestions above and want me to shell out more good ideas for a script writer to use, feel free to send me a message on here. im full of good ideas, im not educated in films at all but Ive certainly seen more movies than I probably should in my life, so I know a good idea because I have a pretty good idea of what ideas have been done or not done and what might be cool to do, to offer something a little extra for this special "13th" Friday the 13th sequel!!
