Second to final Friday the 13th blog post, then it's off to Springwood...
2:22pm, January 25, 2009

At some point you just have to let go.

Friday the 13th (2009) Jason VoorheesAfter a two-year journey with Jason Voorhees I am finally at that point. There is really nothing left to do. The trailer is out there, and in New York and Los Angeles that hockey mask is on billboards, bus shelters and buses. If you are watching TV at all you are probably seeing our commercials. But there are more (different one's) coming! I saw two commercials yesterday that, I think, are the best we've ever had.

Speaking of the best, I really mean what I am about to say...

Friday 13 is my favorite movie of all of the movies we've made. Now I know you haters will have problems with things such as the pine needles being too green or that we had Jablonsky create an amazing score, but here is the fact... If you are truly a fan of horror movies, and specifically Friday the 13 movies, you need to see the new one. It's badass. Hell yes Jason runs. You better believe his machete is huge (there are a bunch of people to kill). And the scares work.

I've seen this movie with an audience and I am telling you there were some people who were so scared they kept their hands over their eyes the entire film, and those who didn't were squirming in their seat.

So let me know what you think of the commercials, billboards or anything else.

I think I will write once more to update you on Comic-Con New York and then, ladies and gents, we are all Freddy, all the time!

Molcoo 2:37pm, January 25, 2009

Who made up the audience during the test screenings, Mr. Fuller? A bunch of twelve/thirteen year olds, perhaps?Honestly now. And no, I'm not hating. In fact, I'm perked up for the remake. But it's completely laughable when you say there will be "scares" in it. You and I both know that the Friday series was never scary. The early Fridays (which you are taking elements from) were creepy, intense, and atmospheric. But scary? Hell no, although Part 4 The Final Chapter DOES near being scary, with the dark lighting and excellent build up.

voorhees213 3:09pm, January 25, 2009

Can't wait for Feb 13 - thanks Brad. Bring it on!

PsychoSlasher 3:27pm, January 25, 2009

Brad, I have nothing but faith in you and the rest of Platinum Dunes. I have no doubt in my mind that this will be the strongest entry in the series by far. As a die-hard F13 fan, I can honestly say that I wish that you guys would have came along sooner. Therefore, I would not have been subjected to the past three New Line Films which we're nothing short of abysmal. I have felt for the longest time that it was time to go back to basic's with the series, and it appears to be that you guys have done just that. Just as a side note however, an unmasking scene is essential. That would really bring back some of the nostalgic value of the original films... -Thanks, Psychoslasher.

massdeath 4:33pm, January 25, 2009

Brad, I'm very psyched for the new Friday film. I will be out of the country that week, but I'll have to check it out when I return. It looks you've really taken the tone of the first four entries of F13 and added the iconic Jason Voorhees image to the mix. It looks perfect and I can't wait to see it. You may have made the best F13 yet. Now onto Freddy...That is a whole different can of worms entirely. The original ANOES is a CLASSIC in horror; not because of its cult value (although it still has that) but because it was actually scary and a serious horror film. F13 was always a joke, even the best in the series (Part IV) was still somewhat campy with characters that you largely didn't care about. This is NOT the case with the Elm Street series. The victims in the Elm Street series are VERY sympathetic and complete characters. As someone else pointed out in another thread: In Friday the teens are misbehaving, immature, and irresponsible. In a very conservative sense they "get what they deserve". We feel little sympathy for them and as such are largely chopmeat for Jason. In Nightmare the characters are earnest, honest, and hard working young adults who have been lied to by their irresponsible parents and community leaders. They are TRYING to do the right thing but are being punished for the sins of others. I really hope you draw that distinction. Nightmare is NOT just another teen slasher film, it's much deeper than that. Also please distinguish between the characters of Jason and Freddy. We all know that Jason is a somewhat sympathetic character. He is after all defending his "sacred" territory and his mother's murder. This is not the case with Freddy. He is a sick, twisted, child killing, sadistic sociopath. As such please do not make him a comedian. The only person in the theater who should be laughing at his "jokes" are him. Everyone else should be shocked, scared, disturbed, or outraged at his EVIL behavior. We should be rooting for the teens in ANOES. Not the other way around as is the case in most F13!

jasonlives1986 5:19pm, January 25, 2009

Brad, if people choose to not like your product because of what THEY want to see in a Friday the 13th movie, it doesn’t make them a hater. IF your a F13th fan and you go around saying things like "Jason doesn't wear his machete or other tools at his waistband" or "why would Jason have a fucking coat on" those are logical questions and doesn't make them haters. I would agree that there are some people you just cant please but come on, your touching holy ground for some of these fans when you take a established series and start changing things around or you start to give significant meaning to things that never had any and quite frankly didn’t need any. I know your smart enough to realize that just comes with the territory, you're lucky enough to have made it in the film business, but lets not pretend for a single second that there isn’t always someone out there who could of done a better job or even knows what there doing. and for a team of producers who only job to date is to take movies from the past and just remake them, originality obviously is not your guys thing, so don't say some of us are haters because we know what to expect from a F13th movie and that MAYBE we didn't get that from this movie. I don’t know, I haven’t seen it, but come on, I cant pretend to know what kind of crap you and your team goes through, but that is the down side to taking a property like this and trying to change certain things. It is what it is, lets hope its a rocking F13th movie and that it stays true to its source material to the most degree. I actually saw a commercial that actually acknowledged (not like it isn’t obvious) that the audience know who Jason and the F13th franchise is, which is quite different than your other remakes, this one actually has MASS appeal to even the general fan so it must of been different trying to advertise it because the audience would look at this as a new F13th film, instead of something else like TCM where some people didn’t know it was a remake.

Scream110 5:38pm, January 25, 2009

jasonlives1986, as a matter of fact I haven't seen many questions about the ones you stated. But what I have seen is a whole lot of bashing what has changed. "Jason doesn't fucking run!" or "Jason wears a coat now? Fucking great, it's just gonna be crap!". Seriously. That's all I've spotted on the net. Cut to Elm Street, I'm very uneasy about the remake itself. "Who will play Freddy? Is Nancy in it? Will the house be the same?" The first one is just so iconic, you know? But so far I've liked every movie you've produced so far (I have yet to see The Unborn and Friday the 13th). I'm counting on you guys. Plus, if Friday the 13th hardcore fans are really what they say they are, then they should without a doubt give a reboot of the franchise a shot. It's not like the plots have made any changes over the last 10 films, except Jason went to outer space.

HorrorManiac 5:50pm, January 25, 2009

What's up Brad and Andrew. This is Robert, a few months ago I called you guys once or twice, and gave my opinion on the new Friday the 13th. Well, I lost your phone number so I'll tell you here. Color me impressed. Film looks scary as all hell! Good, good job. Jason standing on the roof was an epic shot. That was great. Don't mind most people on the internet. They'll bitch about anything because they don't want to be "Sheep" and wouldn't know a good Horror film if it shoved itself down their throat. Anyway, fantastic job guys. You guys have yet make a bad movie, and my personal favorite of Platinum Dunes' is the TCM remake, but this looks like it might top that. What are the rest of these users smoking? This looks to be the best Friday the 13th EVER. It's not like the other ones were works of art or anything. They never had directing or cinematography this good. Or an established style so please stop losing sleep over his "tool waist-band". That's a great idea. That makes sense. A doctor eating Jason's heart and him going soul-jumping does not. Much luck for the new Freddy flick too. -Robert

jasonlives1986 6:00pm, January 25, 2009

Yes, scream110. Some people hate to hate, I can deal with Jason running, its not like he hasn't before. But if you give me a F13th movie where Jason is some kind of intelligent man who has lived in the woods for years, and then proceed to give me why he was able to live on a campground for 30 years without ever once running into someone before he became a crazed killer, I just can not accept that as possible, even in a slasher movie, it sticks out as corny. So some people cant be pleased, but some of us, ask logical questions like that and it doesn’t make us haters. NOES is the ONLY horror series that cant be remade, it just cant. Englund is Kruger, no matter how good the new guy is, this isn’t like Heath Ledgers Joker, this isn’t something adapted from a comic book where anyone can play him, here on out every adaptation of Kruger will be compared to Englund just like every Joker will be compared to the Joker of the comic world, so there is a difference in how you can go about it. Since Englund is a breathing version of the character, you just cant do it justice with someone else. Just with Jason I don’t like seeing things from the past movies that didn’t go into much detail all of a sudden come back and play a pivotal role in the new series, I have severe reservations over a few things in this movie, and the biggest one is how Jason is basically the son of Rambo and the mutants in Wrong Turn, as seen in the new commercial where Jason is sharpening his machete, are we fucking serious? The reeks of shades of Leatherface, its not who Jason is. But Its the Jason this new series is going to have, if you don't like it, it doesn't make you a hater, it means you don’t like the new direction the series you love has taking, its not different than not like the fact that Jason spent time in space. Visually the movie looks like crap, it looks like a deluded version of TCM remake, and the actors don’t even look like real people like the old series did, they don’t even look like WB actors, they look fake, I cant put my hand on it. Some of these things wouldn’t stop me from enjoying the movie, some of them will. Its a matter of taste, and some people will like it, and some wont. Its our rights as the audience, no need to label people who aren’t in your boat as haters.

nricexbox 6:13pm, January 25, 2009

I've got the Crystal Lake to Manhattan box set + the other 3 movies starring Jason. I have a Friday the 13th poster. Hell yes I'm going opening night! I've been waiting anxiously for about 1.5 years when I think I first heard that Quentin Tarantino would be attached. Fact is now, its made and I can't friggin wait (or believe it). Let other people have their opinion and just enjoy it! (or don't enjoy and leave it be!) the numbers and reviews will speak for themselves (i hope).

jrsjr81 6:33pm, January 25, 2009

Mr. Brad Fuller don't listen to all of these geeky moronic assholes/haters that say that this movie will suck. This movie will be INCREDIBLY AWESOME AND BADASS!!!!!!!!!! :-) This WILL be the best Friday the 13th movie and Jason Voorhees yet!!!!!!!!!! :-) I love the look of Jason in this film especially his thick neck! :-) Like I said before Jason's thick neck makes him look freakier and creepier! He's supposed to be a freak of nature! :-) I also am in LOVE with the look of the website!!!!!!!!!! :-) REALLY COOL!!!!!!!!!! :-) I'm also in love with the look of the underground tunnels and the overall atmosphere of the movie!!!!!!!!!! :-) I've seen the first five TV spots including the trailer and the teaser trailer and this is going to be ONE HELL OF A FUN, AWESOME, COOL AND FREAKY ROLLERCOASTER RIDE OF A MOVIE!!!!!!!!!! :-) YOU HAVE MY COMPLETE SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!! :-)

jasonlives1986 6:44pm, January 25, 2009

yes, because its not geeky and moronic to say movie you have never seen before will be "INCREDIBLY AWESOME AND BADASS!!!!!!!!!!" sounds like some ballwashing to me.

jkrouskop 7:01pm, January 25, 2009

Thanks, Brad, for the updates. I dare say I've been a hardcore FRIDAY THE 13TH fan for as long as anyone who regularly comments here, and I don't see anything about the trailers, TV spots, etc. that makes me worry this won't be "a FRIDAY THE 13TH movie", in every positive sense of the term. The fact that some are incapable of looking at anything new without an unhealthy (that's right, unhealthy) degree of pessimism and hand-wringing is unlikely to affect how it is received by positive-minded fans, open-minded viewers, and general audience members - who, combined, comprise a FAR LARGER portion of the ticket-buying audience than do the cynics and the horror-hating professional critics. The difference between a hater and a cautious-but-hopeful fan is obvious to everyone except the hater, who will always act petulant and defensive when questioned, and who will never be able to look at his or her own behavior (much less the film) objectively. Ignore those folks. If you made a movie worthy of the title FRIDAY THE 13TH, the box office totals and rational fan response will reflect that. It won't take the haters long to find something else to whine about, while the rest of us enjoy the movie.

girlscoutstalker 8:52pm, January 25, 2009

COMPLETELY agree with HorrorManiac on the JGTH comment. THIS is a reboot/remake. Its a new Jason. Give him a damn belt, coat, machete sharpener...whatever. Jason Goes to Hell WAS part of the original series and that piece of S#it is barely watchable. We are finally getting a great Friday the 13th movie after so many years so stop bitching and praise the new movie. And if anyones so upset about the movie, next week Paramount releases their THIRD incarnations for parts 1-3 on DVD. Buy those..watch them then...and stop complaining

LawDude 8:52pm, January 25, 2009

Your commercials are great! And that poster is the most badass thing I've ever seen; in fact, I just forwarded it to my clients to show them how a horror movie poster is supposed to look. Can't wait till next month. Oh, and "The Unborn" kicked ass. Nice job knocking Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway out of the best per theater average opening weekend.

girlscoutstalker 8:53pm, January 25, 2009

just realized i was the 13th comment...SWEET

Fridaythe13th 9:04pm, January 25, 2009

Sweet. Great news! I can't wait for this movie to come out. It will probably be the best entry in this franchise to date.

comfycasket 10:12pm, January 25, 2009

I think the film looks great, my only concern is that it will be campy like the friday series was. The TCM approach is my personal fave, very serious and constant suspense, if this movie has violence and gore etc etc, i won't mind, as long as its suspenseful. I sure hope you guys keep certain aspects of NOES. Such as, not completely showing freddy, keeping him mysterious, the showing of the crucifix/religious content, and go back the the original sweater, red and green stripes, with solid red sleeves, much better than stripped sleeves! Do those 3 things, and youll have a winner!

horrorfan1988 10:29pm, January 25, 2009

I so can't wait for Feb 13. I might not see it until Valentine's Day, but I can't wait to see Jason in action on the big screen.

disanti 11:01pm, January 25, 2009

I'm lucky to live in LA and see the billboards/posters everywhere. There is a billboard right by my house on Overland and another my way to work down off of Olympic. This is like Christmas to me. I can't wait for the 13th...or at least the night of the 12th if you are doing 10/midnight showings. Can't wait!

deanbarry 12:57am, January 26, 2009

Brad...release date for Friday 13th down here in Australia? Hope it coincides with America, cause, dude...it'd would suck balls if we have to wait. And I don't wanna be reading no spoilers on the nets here, three weeks before an Oz release. Got some good news for us Aussie fans???

rusted31 1:15am, January 26, 2009

Deanbarry , it's out here in Australia on Feb 29 I think, so yes we have to wait once again. PD and Brad Fuller, good luck with F13, it certainly does look the business and even better luck with recreating my fave horror franchise of all time, NOES

Pat34 1:27am, January 26, 2009

Brad I think the TV spots are awesome. They really grab your attention. The trailers look amazing as well. I am a huge fan and I am taking off work February 13th just to go see it the first day. I know it will be great. Keep up the great work guys! Patrick

Penhall 1:34am, January 26, 2009

I'll be there opening night, and am dragging a dozen people with me, so I'm doing my part. But damn you guys for remaking Freddy!

CampBlood1980 2:23am, January 26, 2009

There's a difference in being a hater & stating that "this movie is gonna suck", and voicing some concerns. Brad, you even said yourself in one of your earlier posts that being in the remake business opens yourself up to alot of criticism & rightfully so. These are major horror franchises that have been laid in your hands, and fans are very passionate about them....Especially "Friday & Nightmare". Some criticism is out there & moronic, but some has good reasoning behind them. For instance, I'm guilty of voicing concern over the score. For me, the original score is just as iconic as Jason's machete. Fans have just been burned so many times in this series by crappy sequel after crappy sequel(Part 4 WAS The Final Chapter for me) It's hard not to be a little gunshy. Especially after Rob Zombie's disaster....I was so hyped for that movie, the trailers were badass, but the movie was a mess. It's just that there's so much promise for this movie, returning to it's roots, Jason runs again(Hell Yeah!) back in Crystal Lake with a serious approach to it.

francesco 3:02am, January 26, 2009

brad, the movie will be great and will be huge at the box-office. but don't forget about the sequel! fra

halloween9movie 6:04am, January 26, 2009

I can't wait for A Nightmare On Elm Street and i'm glad Platinum Dunes is making it

francesco 6:15am, January 26, 2009

i know that they'll prepping a 2 days of friday next this week-end, i hope to read some reviews from next sunday.

jrsjr81 7:08am, January 26, 2009

Hey jasonlives1986 I CAN say that it's moronic to hate a movie before you see it! I've seen both trailers and 5 of the TV spots and they ALL look great so I CAN say that tghis movie will AT LEAST be cool and awesome and something different! Oh and I've also read all of the interviews too. Jasonlives1986 go wash your own balls! JASONLIVES2009! :-)

francesco 8:23am, January 26, 2009

how can a guy that called jasonlives1986 could hate this movie? how can a f13th fun hate this movie? come on guys this movie rocks.

jerryolsson 3:03pm, January 26, 2009

It will be an honour to watch this new Friday the 13th movie in cinemas. I will see it at least once. No make that twice.

DevilNeverCry81 5:00pm, January 26, 2009

I seriously saw the billboard 6 freaking times on my way to work. I work in advertising so I notice stuff like this all the time. But the promo push for a movie of this sort is really generous. There were 2 posters at my train station. 1 when I got off the train. A huge one outside on a bus shelter. And a I saw it on a bus and on a payphone. All in the span of 1 hour.

makaveddie81 2:43am, January 27, 2009

Even though I despise Jason's new look - he looks like a trench coat mafia reject - I am giving this movie a shot, though I dont think it will be better than MBV3D as it reeks of a stereotypical F13th film - nudity, sex, drug use, comedy - which tells you the writers dont know their ass from their elbows.

makaveddie81 2:50am, January 27, 2009

I agree with JASONLIVES1986. These guys are changing too many things around and are using a lot of parallels to TCM2K3 - perhaps because it has proven to be a success. Underground tunnels, Jason's pathetic outfit, Rambo-Jason, machete-samurai sword, Jason sharpening said samurai sword, no part 2 shack (now its a full on cabin), piss colored mask, mummy toilet paper sack, the list goes on and on. Oh and who can forget the endless amount of sex and drug use the Dunes have been touting for months. Bringz it onnnn da moore da betterz!!!!111!!! Huuuuge azz machetez!!!111!!!

francesco 3:22am, January 27, 2009

it's a very shame that fans are the first on line to think this movie will socks. how can MBV could be better than this if NOBODY saw this yet???

jrsjr81 4:11am, January 27, 2009

Hey makaveddie81 you're forgetting the fact that in part 2 Jason wore a plaid shirt, overalls a pillowcase and he carried around a pitchfork! Yeah THAT'S not a pathetic outfit! And Jason set up traps before in part 2 with that rope when the guy was dangling upside down. I've never been a big fan of the open jacket look myself but at least Jason's t-shirt this time around isn't sparkling white like it was in parts 3 and 4!

francesco 5:50am, January 27, 2009

i think platinum thinks it will gross 40 millions around, but it will make more.

disanti 11:30am, January 27, 2009

Saw a spot last night while watching 24...it was def the best TV spot I've seen yet.

francesco 12:13pm, January 27, 2009

it seems they are really promoting it.

makaveddie81 3:26pm, January 27, 2009

JRSJR81: Though you only addressed two issues on my list, allow me to refute your statements. First, the part 2 look was not pathetic at all. It was original, unlike this new look, which is basically your new age interpretation of a slasher villain. Second, the pitchfork wasn't modified to look more "menacing"... it was just that, a pitchfork. Third, Jason has worn the work shirt/work pants attire for 9 films so it obviously is his iconic look. Lastly, if you're so adamant in having Jason's clothes dirty, then why couldn't they just use a dirtied and torn traditional work shirt/work pants look instead of making him look like a trench coat mafia reject?

jrsjr81 3:37pm, January 27, 2009

It doesn't really look like a trench coat. Now all of the action figures I've seen of the new Jason now THOSE look like trench coats. Like I said before I'm really not a big fan of the open jacket look but I have to say it's growing on me. And when this movie comes out and we WILL love it several years down the road we're all going to be complaining about Jason's look then too! That's the funny thing about all of this. I think Jason's worst wardrobe was in Jason X before he became Uber-Jason. Talk about a shitty wardrobe, that was the worst! YUCK!

Russian guy 3:57pm, January 27, 2009

You been better not remake "Nightmare" removed, and is prequel. With Robert Englund in the role of Freddy. On this I would descend with 100 %. But I will not so go not on any of your film. Yes and other fans too.

makaveddie81 4:29pm, January 27, 2009

Yeah, it doesn't look like a trench coat, just an over sized jacket. Jason looks like a little boy who's wearing Dad's clothes as the sleeves are too long as they overlap half of his hands. The work shirt in part 3 was undersized which is a better look IMO.

magnaderalpha 5:12pm, January 27, 2009

Well, people don't hate to hate. There's a valid reason behind every emotion in the world, even hatred. That being said, it comes off more as concerns than hatred. Though you see it on both sides of the camp(people who dislike remakes AND people who dislike people who dislike remakes), and frankly, both usually piss me off. There's no real difference between people who say, "God, this movie's going to suck balls and it looks like a fuckin lame ass piece of shit!" and people who say, "Anybody who doesn't like this movie are cock sucking dumb fucks with shit for brains!". Same exact type of people, different "opinions" of what they deem "good", but still the same nonetheless. That being said, the pine needles being GREEN is peachy keen. I mean, I just don't want them piss yellow or sepia toned. And as for my opinion on this movie, it changed. At first, I was stoked, then I kinda didn't care, but I've come around and think, "Well, why the hell not? It's Ft13, BABY!!". And as for Freddy, treat him with kid gloves and don't try to slice him up too much(all puns INTENDED)! Hehehe...

TheMadMime 5:53pm, January 27, 2009

Uh...His machete is "huge" because he has "a lot of people to kill"? So did Harry Warden in My Bloody Valentine, and they didn't make him lug around a pick-axe the size of a boat anchor in order to do so. For cryin' out loud. Oh, and you guys DO know that Jason doesn't just use a machete, right? I know it's always good to give him one or two good signature kills with the machete, but Jason didn't attain his legendary status by relying on the machete alone. In fact, many of the previous films would've been boring to the point of un-watchability if he'd used the same instrument over and over and over. I sincerely hope your film doesn't do this.

makaveddie81 6:30pm, January 27, 2009

Great post THEMADMIME, I completely agree... Why didn't they make Leatherface's chainsaw the size of a truck for that matter? Oh I know, they deemed the machete as "not menacing enough" so they had to go out and make it longer. Speaking of the machete, the fact that they keep associating it to Jason like he was born with it attached to his leg further my point that that this will be your stereotypical F13th film - nuditttyyy, sexxx, weed, long azz mechetteeeeee!!!!!!1!!!11

hawaiiwarriors1 9:34pm, January 27, 2009

Mr.Fuller/Mr.Form/Mr.Bay can we get an advance screening for friday the 13th here in hawaii....PLEASE! the more i keep thinking about your movie, the more it drives me crazy...just caint wait any longer.

Ma23 10:49pm, January 27, 2009

I'm really excited for this movie.I'm glad to see jason back doing his thing. so what if some things are changed this is a new jason they couldn't reall go anywhere else with the series. and i'm glad they went this way.

jrsjr81 3:39am, January 28, 2009

Makaveddie81 you haven't even seen the movie yet. How do you know what Jason is going to look like with that jacket on? His clothes don't look all that big and baggy to me. Take that one picture that was released recently of Jason carrying Whitney with her in front of him not draped over him, his pants at least didn't look baggy at all. So I don't know where you got that silly idea that Jason's clothes look far too big for him.

makaveddie81 4:34am, January 28, 2009

I know what he looks like because, in case you've been living under a rock, 5 commercials, a trailer, a teaser, the Comic-Con footage (you know, the one I recorded and leaked) and a plethora of pictures have been released. I never said his entire outfit was oversized. The jacket is oversized as the sleeves overlap half of his hands,

jrsjr81 7:01am, January 28, 2009

Thank you for leaking that comic-con footage to us fans! :-) As far as Jason's sleeves overlap half of his hands come on! That's why Mr.Brad Fuller joked about the pine needles on the tree being too green. These arguments are so laughable and irrelevant. I'm probably not going to be looking at his hands the whole movie or even some of the movie for that matter.

TheMadMime 9:27am, January 28, 2009

Can't wait to see how Freddy's glove turns out in the remake. If you thought his blades were massive and not-realistically-crude-and-homemade-in-the-least in Freddy vs. Jason, you've not seen anything yet! Ugh.

jrsjr81 9:35am, January 28, 2009

TheMadMime you are a nitpicker!

disanti 1:25pm, January 28, 2009

Yea there is a lot of nitpicking. Everyone is just getting excited and antsy though. We're all excited and we've all got nothing better to do. I did see people argue about how the color of the water changed...that was retarded. Oh well, only a couple more weeks and we can all really talk about the film. Everyone should just take a step back and get ready to watch a new friday... save your breathe and save your judgments for the 14th.

francesco 3:17pm, January 28, 2009

yep just 2 weeks wow!!! hope to be here to talk about the sequel soon!

makaveddie81 3:53pm, January 28, 2009

You're welcome dude. Now, dont get me wrong, I WANT this film to be perfect and my butt WILL be at the theathers on Feb 13th. The thing is, my expectation level for this film has been on a decline ever since Jason's look was revealed along with a host of other issues that I already addressed in a previous post. OK, maybe I am nitpicking about the jacket being too big, but what about the other stuff I pointed out? you have yet to address those issues. Let me refresh you memory: "These guys are changing too many things around and are using a lot of parallels to TCM2K3 - perhaps because it has proven to be a success. Underground tunnels, Jason\'s pathetic outfit, Rambo-Jason, machete-samurai sword, Jason sharpening said samurai sword, no part 2 shack (now its a full on cabin), piss colored mask, mummy toilet paper sack, the list goes on and on. Oh and who can forget the endless amount of sex and drug use the Dunes have been touting for months. Oh I almost forgot about the comedy too. Bringz it onnnn da moore da betterz!!!!111!!! Huuuuge azz machetez!!!111!!1"

bubba68 6:13pm, January 28, 2009

I just want to say, that you guys kicked ass with the Texas remake, you kicked ass with the Beginning, and from all that I've read, all that I've heard, and with all of the trailers and tv spots I've seen, THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO ROCK!!! Long live Jason Voorhees!

girlscoutstalker 7:52pm, January 28, 2009

Just taking a wild guess here but Im pretty sure Jason's jacket came from some poor victim of his. HE LIVES IN THE WOODS!!!! HE USES WHATS AVAILABLE TO HIM!! Im pretty sure if he went to Sears and tried on the damn jacket he would have picked one that fits.

Draco 10:58pm, January 28, 2009

I here that there will be a sequel to this remake. I only have one thing to say about that, don't overdue it on to many sequels on this remake. Just remember, it was way to many sequels that destroyed Jason's image before this remake was even thought of.

hawaiiwarriors1 11:27pm, January 28, 2009

makaveddie leave and dont come back...

hawaiiwarriors1 11:30pm, January 28, 2009

makaveddie the main reason jason wears a thick jacket is because he does live in the wilderness and the producers stated that it makes his movements look quick.

makaveddie81 3:05pm, January 29, 2009

HAWAIIWARRIORS1: First, go fuck yourself. Second, last time I checked, Camp Crystal Lake is a SUMMER camp. Regardless of the reasons the producers gave, Jason NEVER wore a jacket except for FVJ and JGTH when he was already a zombie (I dont think zombies are ever cold). "Human" Jason (parts 1 - 4) NEVER wore a jacket, so the climate obviously never had an effect on him. Third, you still have failed to address the other issues I've pointed out.

psychout 3:43pm, January 29, 2009

So damn excited to see this! The TV spots out now are awesome. Other than attending NYCC, please, PLEASE tell me you are going to take advantage of Jared's and Derek's natural charisma and have them hit the talk show circuit. I know Supernatural fans especially want to see Jared out there, promoting the hell out this film.

jrsjr81 4:42pm, January 29, 2009

Makaveddie81 let me address the rest of your issues. Jason's pathetic outfit, it's not pathetic! Jason's samurai sword, so it's a bit longer than usual so what! Rambo Jason, this Jason is a lot smarter than previous ones so maybe the IQ for this movie will be a lot higher as well besides he set traps before in part 2. Jason's full on cabin, it's more like a very rundown, dirty and filthy cabin and it makes sense! Piss colored mask, I like the fact that the hockey mask looks like some sort of ancient facial armor in this movie! Mummy burlap sack, I love the sack in this movie it's more form fitting and at least it doesn't look like a lily white pillow case for christ's sakes! And as far as Jason sharpening his "samurai sword" I think that's cool and it makes sense as well! Now go away you turd!

makaveddie81 7:03pm, January 29, 2009

JRSJR81: First you thank me for the footage and then you call me a turd? I guess you failed to read the post where I said that I WANT this film to be perfect and WILL be there on opening night. Saying that the machete is "a bit" longer is a bit of an understatement don't you think? Showing Jason sharpening the samurai sword smells like a Leatherface clone if you ask me. Hey, why not show Leatherface putting gasoline in his chainsaw while we're at it? Further, how does a guy living in an abandoned cabin at a summer camp make more sense than him building his own shack in the remote areas of the woods where its harder to spot him? Dont you think that he would be easily spotted living in an abandoned cabin in a summer camp? You only gave your opinion regarding the piss-colored mask and the sack and failed to address the underground tunnels (which reek of Leatherface as well). Now go cry to mommy because someone on the internet disagrees with you and ask her why she had unprotected sex with your Dad.

voorhees213 7:43pm, January 29, 2009

HEY GUYS, want a real treat? Now, this only applies to you if you have an Xbox 360 and Xbox live. Log on, find the "13 Days of Gears (of War)" promotion, and just like that, you can watch the full theatrical trailer in glorious HD as many times as you like. I've already watched it like 50 times. Enjoy. Now, to Brad: THANK YOU for the marketing this Friday is receiving. The Gears of War promo is genius, and I cannot count how many times I've seen Jason in this past week - TV spots, billboards, buses, bus stops - he's everywhere! I'm in LA, or more specifically, over the hill from disanti in the SFV, and it is like an all out media blitz over here. Any possibility of a Super Bowl ad? Might be too expensive, but I hear there's a couple spots left if your interested.

hawaiiwarriors1 8:04pm, January 29, 2009

makaveddie before i fuck myself,i'll fuck your mom until she goes into a coma...and your the fucking punkass who recorded the comic-con footage...it seems that you're fucking complaining alot about this movie but yet you still bring your geek ass around...i dont get it!...P.S Platinum Dunes...makaveddie is one of them Haters!.

hawaiiwarriors1 8:14pm, January 29, 2009

makaveddie stop talking like your in the HOLLYWOOD business. I can't believe you're questioning these professionals.(scott stoddard-special make-up effect artist...Bay/form/fuller-producers...shannon/swift-writers. ..nispel-director)if you got something to say...tell it to them and quit bitching...this web is for true & positive friday the 13th fans...

magnaderalpha 10:15pm, January 29, 2009

All you little fuckers CALM DOWN!! Take a deep breath, hold it, count to 5 slowly as you exhale! There, feel better? Good. Let's move on from this stupid bickering. ABOUT THE LARGE MACHETE, it's funny that Leatherface's chainsaw wasn't THAT big. I think the LONGEST chainsaw we seen so far was in TCM3. That shit could cut a truck in half!!

makaveddie81 1:45am, January 30, 2009

HAWAIIWARRIORS1: First, this is a place for people to communicate with Mr. Fuller as he does read every post (according to an earlier post by him). Hell, he even encouraged ANOES fans to give suggestions for that films remake. Second (and I've said this multiple times) I WANT this film to be PERFECT and WILL be there on opening day but I have my concerns. If you have a problem with this and want to classify me as a "hater" then so be it, knock yourself out. Third, being a professional doesn't guarantee a great movie. Out of all the people you mentioned, I hold Nispel in higher regard and even he came out with a turd (Pathfinder). Last, having doubts about the film doesn't make me less of a "fan". On the contrary, it could be argued that the real fans are the ones who hold the originals close to their heart and don't give a shit about this remake because it's touching holy ground. Now please, stop categorizing people as "fans" and "haters" you ignorant waste of sperm.

CampBlood1980 8:54am, January 30, 2009

Makaveddie81....Speaking of the parallel's of Friday & TCM2k3. I was looking at the pictures of Jason's cabin & is it me or is that the exact same house that was in TCM2k3? When Jessica Biel & the other guy ran into the house & pushed the couch in front of the door.

CampBlood1980 8:56am, January 30, 2009

I'll be there opening night, but I too have some concerns.

francesco 9:11am, January 30, 2009

2 weeks to go... and tomorrow we'll know...something!

jrsjr81 9:26am, January 30, 2009

About those underground tunnels, I actually like that idea. I think that it'll give the movie a creepier look and atmosphere. Makaveddie81 you said that they're changing too many things around so I'm assuming that you want more of the same right. All of the changes sound pretty damn good to me. I love Jason's look, his machete, the underground tunnels, the fact that Jason won't be a lumbering retard in this movie, that he has intelligence and he sets people up and traps them. And as far as his cabin goes I love that too! It's really a rundown old shack. If you were living in the woods next to an old campsite where there's old cabins do you mean to tell me that you'd still build your own shack? Come on now!

CampBlood1980 11:03am, January 30, 2009

I just hope they don't show Jason too much....It would be a little over kill. Like in RZ's Halloween....They showed Michael WAYYYY too much, and how he pulled the picture out of his pocket....That's why I worry about Jason kidnapping Whitney, because she reminds him of his mom?

CampBlood1980 11:10am, January 30, 2009

I did notice that in "Tv Spot #6", there was some old school music, which was cool. I'm reserving judgement until I see the movie. I'm not a "hater", but I don't understand people's comments saying this is gonna be the best movie in the series when they haven't seen it yet....It'll never beat Parts 1-4, but it could be the 5th best in the series. Not bashing this movie, the first 4 are classics!

DudeWheresMyZombie? 1:46pm, January 30, 2009

hey Brad how come no trailers, posters or billboards have come up in the UK?

makaveddie81 4:30pm, January 30, 2009

JSRJR81: First, Jason didnt become a "lumbering retard" until Kane Hodder took over the role (in part 7). He was not a zombie in the first four films and egads!!! he actually ran in the first four films!!! He was also smart, as evident by the scene in part 2 where he tries to trick Ginny into thinking he left the cabin when shes under the bed. Regarding the "shack" issue, I would actually build my own shack away from the campsite (just like he did in part 2) so it be harder for people to spot me in a more isolated area of the woods. So by your logic, the Dunes should just go ahead and change everything in their ANOES remake? Why is it that ANOES fans want everything to remain intact, yet it's acceptable to "change things around" in F13th? I guess you'd be happy if they showed Freddy sewing his sweater or if they made him wear a polka dot seater and shorts. More of the same sux!!!111!!! Changez evertingzzz!!!!!!1 CAMPBLOOD1980: Yes Jason's luxury cabin and the TCM house look eerily similar. Also, Jason sharpening his machete... err samurai sword... is equivalent to showing Leatherface making a mask out of Kemper's face. Further, the underground tunnels are strikingly similar to Leatherface's dungeon.

makaveddie81 4:33pm, January 30, 2009

CAMPBLOOD81: It is forbidden to have reservations about this film but its OK to predict that this film will "kick ass" and be the "best in the series". Aren't you familiar with the rules??? Don't be a "hater"!!!!11 :)

jrsjr81 6:26pm, January 30, 2009

I know that Jason didn't become a lumbering retard until part 7, no make that part 6. They're really not changing too many things around. We still get the ch ch ch ha ha ha don't we which I think is one of the most important things to keep. I also think it's cool that Daniel Pearl is the cinematographer on this movie. Like I said before the underground tunnels is going to give this movie a certain atmosphere which I think will be great. And it doesn't matter if Jason lives in one of the old cabins or builds his own shack because hasn't Camp Crystal Lake been shut down for years in this new movie? No one is going to spot him anyway.

makaveddie81 7:59pm, January 30, 2009

Your are partially correct. Although Jason was a zombie in part 6, he was still pretty quick footed and agile. His zombie status made him more of an unstoppable force than before but it wasn't until part 7 that he became a roided out wrestler wannabe. Of course were getting the KI KI KI MA MA MA (not ch ch ch ha ha ha) since it is the signature theme of the series! It would be a travesty had they omitted it. The fact is they changed Jason's attire, modified the mask, added underground tunnels, made the machete look like a samurai sword, made Jason kidnap someone, his shack is now a luxury cabin, the list goes on and on. Even though the camp has been abandoned, people still know where it is and it is obviously easier to locate than a makeshift shack built in a remote area of the forest.

disanti 8:06pm, January 30, 2009

As the great Govenator of my state would say "Stop Whining!" Listen, to movie is either going to entertain you or it's not. There is nothing they can go back and change now, so what's the point of the bitching? Oh no, some kid on the blog said the machete is too long, we need to go back and reshoot the whole damn thing now. Everyone should just calm down and save the bitching for after they see it. Who knows, maybe some of your whining can be acknowledged if they make a sequel...you know like if Jason accidentally misplaced his coat and went back to the dickies top ;). Until then enjoy the fact that PD resurrected a series that had completely gone to shit. Just think, instead of talking about this, we could always been treated to Jason X part 2.

makaveddie81 8:53pm, January 30, 2009

I know there's nothing they can do now. I'm just stating my opinion.

disanti 9:53pm, January 30, 2009

No big deal dude, things are different. It's understandable that people are concerned with the new storyline. This is sacred to so many people and it was guaranteed that people would express their concerns all the way through this process. Just remember that this is a new outlook on the story. It's not a carbon copy. Be glad that they're trying to make this story make more sense instead of all the plot holes left in the originals. Really go back and look at the originals too. You can tell, as fun as they are, the production teams weren't focused on a great final project. Jason changed looks/make up 3 times. Time lines were all screwed up. Plot were thin...and they were and still are fun. Remember that these movies are about having fun. They guy has a huge machete, so what, it's a a horror story, not an A&E Biography on a real person haha. I just trying to spread around a little cheer that in two weeks we get to watch this. We can argue about what we liked and disliked after, but for now just enjoy the moment as much as you can.

makaveddie81 10:37pm, January 30, 2009

I'm definitely catching this on opening day, though my expectations aren't as high as they were when this project was first announced for reasons I have already mentioned ad-nauseam. I will eat crow and a huge humble pie if the film ends up being as good as I thought it could be when it was first announced.

makaveddie81 10:38pm, January 30, 2009

These next two weeks are going to go by excruciatingly slooooooowwwwww.

francesco 3:30am, January 31, 2009

can't wait! this movie must make money! we want a sequel to this!

jrsjr81 3:43am, January 31, 2009

Makaveddie81 Jason's shack in this movie is NOT a luxury cabin! What have you been smokin' boy?! Disanti you ARE one of the few people that I like on here. Francesco you're great too. :-) Fourteen more days to go! :-)

francesco 8:56am, January 31, 2009

hawaiiwarriors1 4:08am, February 1, 2009

francesco 4:53am, February 1, 2009

rave reviews! greatttttttttt

disanti 11:28am, February 1, 2009

I just read the news on the extra 10 mins for the dvd release. That's pretty sweet considering most uncut releases are about 2 mins longer haha. A possible Nightmare in 3D I'm reading now...interesting. Can it be pulled off the same way you would have shot it originally though? I'm talking about the dark themes and not trying to be overly campy like MBV was. If it can be pulled off...all I can say is that the boiler room would be cray. You would feel like you are right there with the character walking through, so who knows. In my opinion, the best parts of MBV weren't the things coming at the screen, but scene like the hospital where is felt like the environment was surrounding you. That's all out of me. Gad to see everyone is getting along! Oh JRS, thanks bro.

g1ng3rsnap9ed 2:12pm, February 1, 2009

Okay, I have a LOT to get off of me chest with you greedy, money-hungry bastards. I made this account specifically for the occasion. First off, haven't you prematurely ended enough Horror franchises TCM, F13, and now A Nightmare On Elm Street? Not only this, but Robert Englund will not be replaying Freddy!!? If you remake ANOES, that is one thing, but an actor other than Robert Englund playing Freddy Krueger!!? That is downright blasphemous!!! There is no need for the original Nightmare to be remade, it has aged elegantly, and holds up even to today's standards. (Which actually are quite low, due to talentless hacks like you.) However, since for whatever reason you feel the urge to do so, ($$$) just give the fans Robert Englund as Freddy. If not as Freddy, give him at least ten minutes of screen time in a cameo or whatever. If not, then I swear to God that I will start the greatest cinematic boycott ever known against your film. Me and my friends will do whatever we can in our power to prevent your films from making money, boycotts, posting spoilers in the anticipation Threads on theinternet, anything that can possibly take that extra 8 bucks away from you. So please, for the love of the fans, (And for your love of money.) let Robert Englund play Freddy. If not, then I hope that anybody and everybody and their entire families at platinum deuche (OOPS! That's not a Typo!!) rot in Hell you talentless, greedy, selfish, money-hungry low-life hacks.

massdeath 4:35pm, February 1, 2009

Gingersnapped: I'm no super defender of the PD remaking machine but they certainly have carved a niche for themselves within mainstream horror. I'm going to assume that you are an adolescent based upon some of the more grandiose aspects of your post: "I swear to God that I will start the greatest cinematic boycott ever known against your film. Me and my friends will do whatever we can in our power to prevent your films from making money, boycotts, posting spoilers in the anticipation". I mean that's just silly. You and your other 13 year old friends probably couldn't organize a brownie sale let alone create the "greatest cinematic boycott ever known". Also PD did not "prematurely end" any franchise. TCM's franchise was long since dead. Only the original TCM was good, the sequels were god awful piles of shit! If anything they renewed interest in a long dead franchise with their two films. Now I will acknowledge that I think that the TCM remake sucked, but that still doesn't mean that they "ended the franchise" because the film still did rather well and even created a sequel; thus making a NEW FRANCHISE. Also how could they have "ended" the F13 franchise with their new film? The new F13 hasn't even been released yet! How do you know that it will be bad? How do you know that it won't be a mega-hit and revive the, long suffering, F13 franchise? Look you can hate that PD makes remakes (and many do), you can hate the TCM remake (and I do), and you can think that Michael Bay is among the shittiest directors in the modern era (and he truly is; sorry Brad) but none of those facts make any of your claims accurate. For the record I consider myself a harsh critic but I really do believe that the new F13 could be the best yet!

francesco 9:45am, February 2, 2009

the first 3 clips are awesome. expecially the "he wants to be left alone" one. joblo.com reports that PD was contacted by warner to make a sequel for august 13th 2010. yep...it's a bullshit but who knows!

disanti 12:05pm, February 2, 2009

How is Bay shitty? Transformers, fun as hell. Bad Boys fun as hell. Bay reminds me of an 80's action director on steroids. The movies aren't about sending a message or winning an oscar, they're a 2 hours escape to see some really cool shit being done on a movie screen. Also Ginger, settle down. PD killed TCM? Are you serious??!?! TCM: The New Generation put the brakes on the franchise. If anything, PD brought it to a level it never even reached in the first place. F13th, Possible sequels after Jason X and FvJ almost certainly put the nail in the coffin. Nightmare has been dead for years and no one wants to touch a prequel just yet. If anything, PD can revive that series as well. If you don't like it, grab your box sets and watch the originals. The rest of us however would like to see something new. Also on Nightmare, I also read about something about making sure people know who Freddy is. I really think the original did it best as a slow reveal. Slowly build up clues as to who Freddy is, don't let the audience know right away and have the kids trying to figure it out. Us hardcore original fans will no, but like you said, it might be interesting for a kid who hasn't seen NOES before slowly learn about the character. I don't know how seriously you are taking suggestions, but it would be interesting to maybe have the main character have a brother/sister that was killed by Freddy when he was alive. He/she would be to young to know they even had a sibling and they keep seeing them too in the dreams. All part of the mystery type thing. Also, gives Freddy a reason to come after the main character because of the family ties. The parents of the protagonist would have definitely had cause to torch Freddy after the mistrial. Just they in the original, they would be hiding that secret that tears at the relationship with the main character. Just a thought.

BannerPilot 2:21pm, February 2, 2009

2 words: Underground Tunnels 1 more word: Ridiculous

francesco 2:40pm, February 2, 2009

2 words : underground tunnel 1 more word : Creative!

massdeath 4:59pm, February 2, 2009

Underground tunnels makes sense to me. Besides it adds an air of much needed realism in a series where up til now the main killer just walked really slow and always somehow caught up to his intended target. Also disanti, if I have to explain why Bay is a shitty director to you then I don't know what to tell you..

g1ng3rsnap9ed 8:28pm, February 2, 2009

disanti: Nightmare is not dead, FVJ came out like 5 years ago. New Line was going to do the prequel, but went bank-rupt and sold the rights to these jack-asses. Massdeath: Our bake-sale was quite succesful, thank you very much. platinum dunes: fuck you fuck you Robert Englund is the only Freddy Krueger fuck you fuck you fuck you.

girlscoutstalker 6:10pm, February 3, 2009

I don't think the tunnels make sense when saying that they make Jason catch his victims faster I do believe they make perfect sense when you think about how someone can live in the woods for so many years and never get caught. Gotta hide somewhere..ya know.

Naldo84 9:01pm, February 3, 2009

When is the casting call for nigtmare on elmstreet.

disanti 12:39pm, February 4, 2009

If that's what you want to think Ginger, you think that, but the series wasn't going anywhere. If anything, a remake/boot of Nightmare will only aid a Prequel since there are so many people who haven't even seen the original. Underground tunnels make sense and they don't depending on how extensive they are. If they travel for 20 Miles in every direction, might be a bit much. If it's just a small series of a couple of tunnels then it makes sense. Think about it, he's been down there for 15-20 years? (I don't know what the time line is) So he had plenty of time to do this with the equipment he took from Crystal Lake. It also explains how he stays hidden for all those years. Be a little open minded about it, this is a movie not real life.

mansonmyers 3:54pm, February 4, 2009

Hey i cannot wait for this... the tv spots have started in the UK, and they are awesome. I'm totally excited and i havent felt like this since....TCM BEGINNING was released. Oh, is there any chance there will be another TCM film?

CMYKid 4:16pm, February 4, 2009

Hey Brad... since you´re "getting incoming calls for the first time in our career with actors of real calibre and quality who are pursuing that role(Freddy), which is absolutely astonishing to us." Do you think we could also get a director "of real calibre and quality" too?

francesco 11:13am, February 5, 2009

hey brad...shouldn't be this blog updated?

gr8ride08 11:18am, February 5, 2009

Dear Platinum Dunes, I wanted to find out how much the rumor about Robert De Niro playing Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake is true and it would be nice to have the A-List of actors that want to play the role of Freddy Krueger so the fans can give their opinion on who would be best to take Robert Englunds place. I think this would be a great way to get skeptical fans on board with the remake

superman100 6:11pm, February 6, 2009

sir, are BLU RAYS of texas chainsaw beginning and remake in the works?

makaveddie81 1:59am, February 7, 2009

HOW ABOUT WE GET AN A-LIST DIRECTOR, PRODUCER AND WRITER (NOT THE HACKS KNOWN AS SHANNON AND SWIFT) TO GO ALONG WITH THE A-LIST ACTOR???

francesco 5:03am, February 7, 2009

i just hope it won't be beaten by an awfull commedy!

g1ng3rsnap9ed 9:07am, February 7, 2009

Just get Robert Englund in a cameo (at least) and I'll stfu and watch us dumb remake.

TheMadMime 2:32pm, February 8, 2009

If Robert does not play Freddy, I do NOT want an Englund cameo of any sort. It would do nothing but anger fans. "Hey fans...here's the guy who USED to play Freddy and still could have...and now on with the rest of the movie!" And quite simply, despite my advice on the Nightmare remake in the other blog posting, if they don't cast Robert, they're wasting their time. I will NOT go see this movie. And some may say "Nitpicker!" but what good is a blog to give feedback if ALL the feedback is "OMG YOU GUYS RULE SO MUCH I CANT WAIT FOR JASON TO BE HUMAN AGAIN YOU GUYS ARE SO BRILLIANT!!!!111" If they want real feedback and suggestions, this is what I give them.

bbedwards 2:45pm, February 8, 2009

Fuck a cameo. Rob as Freddy or nothing at all. I mean, will that really please you to see Rob come in for some quick scene trying achingly hard for irony? Fuller & Form again claim Englund doesn't want the part, but I'm still not convinced. I suspect they never wanted him from the start, and Rob isn't going to beg. Quote from Fangoria... But what if Englund were to come back and say he wants to do it after all? Would they entertain the idea? “It’s a discussion we’ve had,’ Fuller reveals. “We’d have to talk further about it.” FAIL They don't want him, plain and simple. And now the talk about changing the back story? Cause kids today could GOOGLE IT??? WHAT THE FUCK? How unimaginative are you? Have you guys SEEN any NOES films? Ever notice how parents, police, ALL TPTB do everything they can to ERASE all traces of Freddy for fear of his return? Fred has been dormant for quite a while now, plenty of time for TPTB to erase him from record. That being said, I can already see the cheap route you are taking NOES down. I can see it now-a Google death! Followed by an Ipod's earbuds going all evil-organic and attaching themselves to the victim's ears with mini freddy claws! This remake is gonna be GREAT! I can't wait. The real question is-When will PD REALLY up their game? PD's Citizen Kane can't be too far off. Fuck you, PD, fuck you. Keep telling yourselves you are doing the fans a service by slaughtering these classic films. I would rather see the NOES franchise die as is. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE A NEW ACTOR PLAYING FREDDY KRUEGER! Can you hear me now? (verizon guy turns into FREDDY!)

TheMadMime 2:50pm, February 8, 2009

Funny how anything not tied to an iconic character suddenly becomes a "hard movie to make". Rosemary's Baby, The Birds... no one would really give a care if those got remade. No iconic characters in either of them (unless birds are iconic). And they will continue to languish in development hell. But give Platinum Dunes Freddy, Jason, Leatherface, Rutger Hauer or the Amityville House and they can spit out a new movie in no time.

All the faith in the world in Platinum Dunes...they've never disappointed yet...can't wait for Friday, dying to see the Nightmare news start rolling in...but PLEASE tell me you won't recast Freddy...it's one thing to recast Jason but Freddy?? PLEASE NO!! And when do we get another Chainsaw installment...the first two have been amazing...definitely looking forward to the Friday sequel after this one kicks ass this weekend too!

Bbedwards, TheMadMime I Absolutely is agree with you! Brad, people will not go on remake of Nightmare, if does not awake Robert to play Freddy. You are necessary that your film failed? I think no.

As previously stated by many people on this blog, Robert Englund needs to return to play Freddy Krueger in "A Nightmare on Elm Street". Although it takes talent to portray Jason or Michael Meyers, it takes a particular type of talen to portray Freddy. Out of all of the horror movie classic's villans, Freddy is the only one that actually speaks. Because of this, Freddy is the only villain that has a personality (or at least an instantly recognizable one). He's a sociopath with a wicked sense of humor that only he can (and should) understand. If Robert Englund cannot or does not want to return as Freddy, then the movie should not be filmed. As simple as that. Also, disante, your suggestions for the Nightmare remake sounded fantastic. Tying the new victim into Freddy is an excellent idea. Plus, yes, they should stick to the slow reveal of who Freddy actually is and what he had done before he was burned. An added suggestion would be that I absolutely love the scene in the original movie where Johnny Depp is swallowed by his bed. If, at all possible, it would be amazing to see this scene in the remake. The audience of A Nightmare on Elm Street need to root for the unfortunate teens to make it out of the movie alive. If Freddy gets turned into just another mindless teen-slasher the movie will be a total bust and a waste of time and most definitely money.

Also, because I heard somewhere that the movie might be in 3D, I need to add something else. A 3D Nightmare on Elm Street would ruin the movie, regaurdless of who was casted in it. 3D movies are just plain cheesy, in my opinion.

just seen the movie...i'll be glad to answer any questions?

platinum dunes say it\'s a reboot or retelling of F13 1-4 or 2-3 the reason why i ask is because it lacked what made the first four films great...SUSPENSE/MANFREDINI\'S SCORE...when ya\'ll get to watch it or for those people who already did, dont you agree?for instance the run/chase scenes would of been awesome if it had MANFREDINI\'S music...it would of got the whole audience at the edge of their seats...or the SUSPENSE building up to each kill would of got the audience shivering in their seats...the new friday was boring...i\'ll admit besides mrs.voorhees scene the first 20 mins was good but i could guarantee you that if manfredini was the composer this movie would be freaking AWESOME!...now getting back to this film being reboots of the first four films...it wasnt!..it was more like parts 1-2...sack head jason/beheading of mrs.voorhees/mrs.voorhees decaying head surrounded by candles... ***so PLEASE PLATINUM DUNES*** make Friday the 13th 2 and bring back Harry Manfredini/victor miller or Ron Kurz as writers and hire a director with the vision like steve miner...

As for NOES, for me, I would like to see a smarter more methodical freddy kruger...I think what makes him scarier than Jason, and Micheal is that he actually speaks, and is far superior in intellect compared to the other two. Do some research with some psychologists and psychiatrists and figure out some ways to really scare audiences, with something more than little frights here and there. It would be cool to have something happen similar to what "The Exorcist" did in the 70's. People should leave the movie theater doin one or two things: Screaming their heads off or vomiting their guts out. Can't wait to see it though.

DAKAZA 2:04pm, March 8, 2009

Please, please, please do not make Freddy a child molester! The idea of someone killing children for no reason at all is much scarier. Otherwise, he just seems like a pathetic pervert that's trying to cover his tracks by killing the kids.

I can not wait to see part 2. The reboot is my favorite movie of all time. It had everything. They really need to wait on the Nightmare on Elm Street remake/reboot because enough time hasn't passed. Every GREAT remake/reboot came out 29 years after the original. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974-2003, Halloween 1978-2007, Friday the 13th 1980-2009. It's to soon for Freddy. They should focus on another Friday and have it ready for 2010. The original 3 all came out in 3 years. Friday the 13th (1980), Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981), and Friday the 13th Part 3D (1982). Theres nothing wrong with that, it worked then and it works now. Theres a new Saw movie every year and i can't wait for saw 6 this year. I'm going to see Friday the 13th for the 2nd time on Friday March 13th. The only thing i ask is for them NOT to mame Jason like they did to Leatherface. I mean to be an effective chainsaw weilding mainiac you really need 2 arms. Am i right or am i right? The day Jason Voorhees gets his leg chopped off or put through a woodchipper or some other dumb shit like that i'll be FUCKING PISSED!! //////// DEREK MEARS IS A MUST!! ////////

I AGREE WITH SKARYMOVIEZ!!!!! CHRIS JOHNSON HAS TO PLAY FREDDY!!! Since we won't have Robert Englund, we NEED Chris Johnson! If he plays Freddy, it'll be like we never lost Robert in the first place! Chris has some samples of him playing Freddy in home movies in this vid he made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU5vlIBou3o&feature=ch annel_page Chris Johnson is the dark angel sent to us since we lost Robert Englund, HE'S PERFECT FOR THE ROLE!!!!!!

Hey guys, i wrote already about how using some kind of storyline involving Jason's FATHER is a golden idea, one it's never done before in any of the 12 films... I ALSO thought of another great idea involving Jason's FATHER, and that is this: Ive noticed Jason isnt just "kinda retarded" he's obviously mangled in the face, but this too is also never explained and I think the PERFECT tied together explanation is that Jason's Father ELIAS is the one responsible for Jason's mangled face, because it's OBVIOUS Pamela Voorhees loved Jason too much to ever mangle his face in anyway, so how did it become so? Drowning isnt gonna cut away your face and make it look blistery like in the latest Jason, I liked the latest one, I honestly dont know why so many people complained, everybody wanted Jason to go back to crystal lake, you guys did that, everybody wanted to see young Jason and Pamela, you guys did that too, I can see how you guys really try your best to please the fans more than people appreciate. with that being said, from a huge fan of the franchise and im not against ANY of the 12 films in the franchise, they are all simply slasher films with fun, Id watch a Jason movie over the shitty Saw films anyday. So...to sum it up guys... For the Friday the 13th Sequel consider these ideas: *Include Jason's FATHER in this film some how some way for some reason, my suggested reason is to use a storyline explaining that his father Elias Voorhees was the one responsible for mangling his son Jason's face. *ALSO consider using the idea that perhaps Elias was actually having sex with a counseler while Jason "drowned" or "almost drowned" and that would be a pretty cool revelation as well. I just think there's got to be more to the mangled face idea because there's no reason or logical explanation ever really given. The original films kind of made Jason more grotesque with each film so it was a growing process, but in this remake/reboot he's already mangled as hell...but why? He wasnt mangled when he saw his mom killed just a bit inbred looking, you could even use something wacky like Elias was really like Pamela's brother or cousin to explain the retardation...but that storyline might not be too excepted well. but im just offering my two cents as a fan of this franchise. YOu could also easily insert some kind of idea mentioning that Elias was with the counseler and got caught but fled leaving the girl to defend for herself, and since Pamela is decapitated she never had a chance to go after him next, and so Elias disappeared for years and now has returned (for some reason youd have to make up) to crystal lake either to Help or Kill his boy. *And, although this following was NOT my idea, but from a user who posted it on here somewhere I saw a while back and their idea, which is awesome, is to actually do something involving snow for a damn change, I think it would be quite creepy to see Jason standing there as it is snowing and we pan in slowly all the way up into his eyes waht a awesome creepy moment that would be, but that doesnt mean it has to all take place in snow as I know the dick users are gonna be closed minded on that one, but most certainly it could be considered in the opening of the film and really catch people off guard with interest. I hope you guys consider my thoughts above, and this all was written specifically for Platinum Dunes to read and consider these ideas, I didnt write these for the users because there's always gonna be 1/4 who are closed minded dicks who get mad when they dont get their ba-ba. So, Brad and Andrew...if you guys like the suggestions above and want me to shell out more good ideas for a script writer to use, feel free to send me a message on here. im full of good ideas, im not educated in films at all but Ive certainly seen more movies than I probably should in my life, so I know a good idea because I have a pretty good idea of what ideas have been done or not done and what might be cool to do, to offer something a little extra for this special "13th" Friday the 13th sequel!!
