It's really odd to me that it has taken this long to do a poker-themed thriller, considering how popular the sport has become over the past few years. Today the independent feature film, The Poker Club, has chosen its players with Tim McCann (Runaway) attached to helm. Inside you'll find the full cast listing, along with more details on the story.

Johnathon Schaech ("Masters of Horror: The Washingtonians"), Johnny Messner (pictured; "Believers"), Loren Dean, Michael Risley, Lori Heuring ("Wicked Little Things"), Judy Reyes (:Scrubs") and Jana Kramer comprise the ensemble of the suspense thriller, according to Variety. Tim McCann ("Runaway") directs from a script by Schaech and Richard Chizmar. Matt Richards is financing through his new Baltimore-based shingle Ram Films. Richards will exec produce with Jordan Gertner. Schaech and Chizmar produce via their Chesapeake Films banner, alongside McCann and Bruce Devan. Script, an adaptation of an Ed Gorman novel, follows four buddies who accidentally kill a burglar -- who may not be alone -- during their weekly poker night. Their lives are changed by the difficult choices they subsequently make. The pic is currently filming in New Jersey. Schaech ("That Thing You Do") and Chizmar, founder-publisher of Cemetery Dance Publications, formed Chesapeake in 2004 with an eye toward writing, developing and co-producing horror/suspense films. Schaech next stars in Screen Gems' "Prom Night." McCann, whose credits include "Nowhere Man" and "Runaway," is in pre-production on "The Dealmaker."
