This past week we caught up with one of the stars of the film, John Hensley, who talked with us about the film and how scary it would be to come across a "real" vagina detata and if he's an asshole in real life. Read on for the skinny and go pick up TEETH on DVD now! In TEETH high school student Dawn works hard at suppressing her budding sexuality by being the local chastity group's most active participant. Her task is made even more difficult by her bad boy stepbrother Brad's increasingly provocative behavior at home. A stranger to her own body, innocent Dawn discovers she has a toothed vagina when she becomes the object of violence. As she struggles to comprehend her anatomical uniqueness, Dawn experiences both the pitfalls and the power of being a living example of the vagina dentata myth. SpookyDan jokingly asks star John Hensley is he's ever had sex with a girl with Vagina Dentata? "Not that I know of. If I have, I got off easy. So far so good, all intact," he laughs. The Sundance horror film isn't all that graphic considering what the money shot is, but that was the original intention. "The fact is, Mitchell [Lichtenstein] made the film he set out to make without compromise. Personally, I feel the graphic nature of the movie walks that line between gore and comedy beautifully." Hensley plays a really, really mean character in the film - he talks a bit about how it wasn't all that difficult to transform into that person. "Was it difficult to become such an asshole? Hmm, no, not really. The script served as a good map for that one. Actually, I'd even argue that Brad was written to be even a bit more aggressive and deviant." He continues, "We felt it best to try to preserve some humanity in there. I mean, the guy's first sexual experience involved getting the tip of his finger bitten off. I think that would affect anyone." Spooky and John joked a bit about whether or not Hensley is a asshole in real life. "[It] probably depends on who you ask, but I'd like to believe the votes stack a bit in my favor, but then again, you never know," he jokes. "Oh, man, now you got me all messed up. I gotta go make some calls, take a survey, and see if I'm gonna be able to sleep tonight when I get the tally. " Hensley wraps up with a little talk about a sequel, which he sees potential for. "I don't know if there are any sequels planned. I honestly do think there's potential there. I'd be up for checking out the further adventures of Dawn. Also, I think there's more to the gynecologist's story. I want to know what happened to him. Did he keep quiet? Did he set out on a trek through the Andes to find the source of the Dentata? Regardless, I'd be up for following the adventure, wherever it may lead." TEETH is now available at retailers everywhere.
