Finally it happened. After the huge fail that was Dead Space Extraction (though a great Wii game), E.A. had to quickly redeem themselves. They announced early this morning that Dead Space 2 is definitely happening. There will be more info on the game in this months Game Informer Magazine, which hits shelves December 14th.

“We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapterin Isaac’s journey,” said Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer of Dead Space 2. “The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing. In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that willsurprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.”

Isaac Clarke will be making a comeback in the sequel.  And E.A. says that he will have plenty of new weapons for you to dismember new fucked up space creatures. The game is being made for the Playstation 3, PC, and Xbox 360.

“Like so many gamers worldwide, we love the Dead Space franchise and are very excited to announce a new game in the series,” continued Nick Earl, Senior VP and Group General Manager at EA. “Visceral Games is quickly becoming known for delivering high-quality, action-packed games. Dead Space 2 is on target to deliver a jaw-dropping experience
gamers won’t soon forget.”

Too bad Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey are no longer part of EA Redwood/Visceral. Glen was THE man behind Dead Space.

I hope the game doesn't suffer for it then. I'm looking forward to this with an intensity not often seen by mortal men.

Loved the first one, looking forward to this. I hope they don't do what Resi did and change it from horror to action. I want horror, not action, ta very much; there are a bazillion action games there, very few decent horror games.

Awesome, this game should kick ass. I can see EA learned there lesson by not releasing this on the Wii. Should be fantastic. Looking at that concept art it looks like new armor. Lets hope for more variation on the armor.

Hell yeah!! One of my favorite games of all time. Glad to hear Isaac is coming back. Was a little worried for him at the end of the first game. :)

Yeeessss. YYEEEEEESSSS!!! Dead Space was one of the best games I've played on 360, and I've been defecating with anticipation for the next. New armor looks badass, hopefully the departure of Glen won't hurt it any.

IMO Dead Space was the scariest game ever made. Made Res Evil 5 wilt in comparison. I'm so glad to see it return tho it's gonna be a tough act to follow. Will be difficult to keep this scary since we know the gist of the story and scares mostly come from the unknown

I thought we all already knew of the sequel. I have for a while now. But I guess now it's definitely confirmed, so yeah!

Well yeah, with the success of Dead Space you knew a sequel was coming, but they have to "confirm" it publicly haha
