TIFF '09: New 'Solomon Kane' Image, World Premiere Wednesday!
Posted: September 14, 2009 @ 10:46pm

The WORLD PREMIERE of Samuel Hadida’s Solomon Kane from Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan the Barbarian) which stars James Purefoy (The Philanthropist, Rome, Vanity Fair) and directed/written by Michael J. Bassett will be screened as part of the Toronto International Film Festivals Midnight Madness line-up on Wednesday, September 16 at the Ryerson Theatre. With Kane, Conan and his other heroes, iconic American writer Robert E. Howard created the genre now known as “SWORD & SORCERY,” in the late 1920s and early 1930s. TIFF '09 Review: Lionsgate's 'Daybreakers' Brings the Blood
Posted: September 12, 2009 @ 8:03pm

I haven't really had a chance to dive into my Toronto International Film Festival reviews yet, but here's my thoughts on Lionsgate's Daybreakers, which arrives in theaters January 8, 2010. "While it’s far from perfect, Daybreakers is an incredibly fun movie. Loaded with talents actors (Sam Neill, Ethan Hawke and of course Willem DaFoe), beautiful camerawork (a stunning slow-mo shot in the finale proves this) and buckets of blood, I can’t recommend this enough. The Spierig brothers have officially proven themselves as competent and talented directors delivering a vampire film that won’t quickly be forgotten." Click the title above for the full review and watch for my thoughts on a handful of other films soon.

TIFF '09: New 'Solomon Kane' Trailer Online
Posted: September 11, 2009 @ 4:55pm

One of the few panels I managed to catch in Hall H at this year's San Diego Comic Con was for Solomon Kane, based on Robert (Conan) Howard's character. While it's more fantasy than horror, there are certainly some creepy elements at play; we saw a pretty sweet scene where Kane (James Purefoy) is knocked into a pit of what looked like mutant zombies. With a good supporting cast (Pete Postlethwaite!) and some pretty impressive effects, it looks like a damn good time. IGN has the new trailer, head on over to check it out or watch it here below the break. ...Read More
