One of the most intriguing films playing at this year's Sundance Film Festival is a zombie film entitled Otto; or, Up With Dead People, which we've been covering pretty heavy here on B-D. Today we added an exclusive interview with director Bruce LaBruce, which I feel is one of my all-time favorite interviews and I really hope you guys enjoy. Click his name above for the interview and don't forget to check out all of our Sundance coverage here. We'll have reviews for most films by February.
There's a buzzing in my ear and it's telling me that Sean Ellis' psychological thriller, The Broken, is badass amazing. I hope those people are right as we'll be checking out the film later this month at the Sundance Film Festival. Prepping up until the release we'll share with you an exclusive interview with Ellis along with other goodies starting with a new batch of still inside. "The Broken" is a psychological horror project, starring Lena Headey (The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as a woman whose life descends into nightmare after she sees an apparent double of herself driving by in her own car. ...Read More

Warning: Extreme Sexual Imagery Inside. Read on at your own discretion... We're not even close to finished hyping the independent horror film from Bruce LaBruce entitled Otto; or, Up With Dead People. One of the main reasons we love covering the Sundance Film Festival is that we get to spend time talking about low budget indie films made from the heart and not big budget studio movies that so often kill our front page (yes, even we get sick of talking about them.) Even though films like Dimension's Hell Ride are still in the festival, there are some gems waiting to be discovered in pics like Otto. Today we scored another massive batch of stills for you to check out. Read on and enjoy! Click here for all of our Sundance coverage and take a break from studio holiday mayhem. ...Read More
Today we were supplied with the first four stills ever from Hell Ride, which will be making its World Premiere at this January's Sundance Film Festival. In the film, which is presented by Quention Tarantino, Bishop will play bad-ass biker Pistolero, (named after the original title for Robert Rodriguez’s “Desperado”) who along with his brother The Gent and Comanche, hit the road to avenge the death of Pistolero’s old lady Cherokee Kisum, by the 666ers a rival motorcycle gang. One of the many films we're excited for at this January's Sundance Film Festival is Trygve Allister Diesen's Red, the adaptation of the Jack Ketchum novel. To get some early hype going on the film we caught up with writer Stephen Susco who revealed all sorts of details on Red and scooped us on a few other projects he's working on. You can read about some of the projects inside and watch this spot for the full interview later this week. ...Read More
As part of the Sundance Film Festival press package they included this first look at Red, an adaptation to Jack Ketchum's classic novel directed by Trygve Allister Diesen. In the film adapted by Stephen Susco, a couple of kids kill just for fun a dog named 'Red', the trusty hound of an old gent. The owner finds out who they are, and tries to bring them to justice by informing the authorities. However, this amounts to nothing, so he decides to dish out his own brand of retribution. B-D has confirmed rumors that Teeth (review, trailer, interviews) will open in NYC and LA on January 11th of '08. The movie will expand throughout January and February. High school student Dawn works hard at suppressing her budding sexuality by being the local chastity group's most active participant. Her task is made even more difficult by her bad boy stepbrother Brad's increasingly provocative behavior at home. A stranger to her own body, innocent Dawn discovers she has a toothed vagina when she becomes the object of violence. As she struggles to comprehend her anatomical uniqueness, Dawn experiences both the pitfalls and the power of being a living example of the vagina dentata myth.
B-D got in touch with BAGHEAD director Jay Duplass who explained to us that Sundance made an error in the synopsis for their film, which we announced as one of the horror-themed films playing in January. Jay tells us the film is in no way a horror film giving us the real synopsis, "As previously done in their last film THE PUFFY CHAIR, the Duplass Brothers explore the minutiae of relationship dynamics in this in-depth study of a group of desperate actor friends. And a bag. And a head." Click here for all of our Sundance related news or here for all of the horror-themed films announced.
Sure most press are flocking to get behind Hell Ride at January's Sundance Film Festival (too obvious, yawn), but having Quentin Tarantino's name as a presenter doesn't get me excited anymore. What I like are cool stills and an interesting presence by the director, which is why I was pumped for We Are the Strange last year. This year the movie of choice for me would be Bruce La Bruce's Otto; or, Up With Dead People, which is a unique looking zombie movie that blends political themes and gore on a small budget. Will it be good? We'll let you know in January, but until then let us all indulge in some exclusive stills here on Bloody-Disgusting. Read on and dig in! ...Read More
Bloody-Disgusting has been on hand at the past five Sundance Film Festivals, and with the exception of the year High Tension, Saw and Open Water played, the horror line-up has never really been that great. Everything changes in 2008 as we've just been scored the line-up for "Park City at Midnight" and a few other horror-themed entries that are now top priorities here on B-D. Read on for reviews and details on all the films playing January 17-27 from Park City, UT and also bookmark this page to keep updated on everything Sundance here on B-D. One of the most important film festivals in the Nation is the Sundance Film Festival, which will take place January 17-27, 2008 in Park City, Utah. You can expect insane coverage once again this year. Watch this spot for all announcements tomorrow.

Today we've posted our review of David Bruckner, Jacob Gentry and Dan Bush's The Signal, which was picked up by Magnolia Pictures at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Here's what I had to say, "In the end THE SIGNAL will burn it’s transmission into your brain and leave you with an impression that will never go away. This is that film that leaves you with that special glow (yes, kind of like after sex), the smile that doesn’t fade and the conversations that never cease. Eventually, THE SIGNAL will earn its place amongst the greatest cult horror films of all time." Click the title for the review, pics, posters, trailers and more.
