B-D learned from Saw V Director David Hackl that he'll be stepping aside letting Kevin Greutert take the reigns. Greutert will be making his directorial debut with Saw VI, but he's been involved with the franchise since the beginning editing all the films. Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton will pen the screenplay. Saw V hits theaters this October 24th with Saw VI to be announced 2009.
Naw, it was probably contractual. Hackl was gonna do 5-6 when they were gonna be shot back-to-back. Now, instead they let the editor do 6, either in exchange for a rate reduction or so that he would do 5-6 editing at all. If you IMDb him, his short films sound pretty interesting.
