Here's an interesting genre spin - Korean helmer Na Hong-jin's next pic will be THE MURDERER, which is the dark tale of a man forced to become a murderer to overcome starvation. Na's first film, "The Chaser," was the surprise hit of this year, and Warner Bros. has snapped it up for an English-language remake that may star Leonardo DiCaprio. "The Chaser" scored more than 5 million admissions at the Korean box office and gets its international preem in a midnight screening slot in Cannes' Official Selection. Na said he will finish the script after returning from Cannes. More info soon.

Why can't we get these movies a fucking domestic release instead of remaking the fucking thing? Man, this is pissing me off. People might actually go to see foreign films if we gave them the fucking choice. I bet if the theatres all of a sudden became flooded with great foreign releases people might actually pick up on it. Godamnit! Ignorance!

Listen, jarofsap, we can't release foreign films in our theatres because we can't afford to have them lower the morale and patriotism of the american people in this time of war. This war is about America, and it has changed everything. If we allow other countries to put their movies in our theatres, we will appear weak to our enemies and we can't let that happen. (This statement was ridiculous enough to be recognized as sarcastic, right? I hope so. I thought I'd take another approach to illustrate that there really is no good excuse for not just giving these foreign horror films a theatrical release over here. Aside from the obvious money thing, I can safely guess that their marketing surveys tell them that a majority of moviegoers still prefer the remakes to reading subtitles. Where are they doing those surveys anyway and who are they talking to?)
