Today one of our regular scoopers just left me a package with the official breakdown for Richard Kelly's (Donnie Darko) latest feature film, the long-delayed The Box, which stars Cameron Diaz. We discovered that the film will be shot November 17 for several weeks in Boston/Virginia - also finding the first revealing synopsis and casting breakdown. Read on for the goodies.
Synopsis: The film is set in Virginia in 1971. Norma and Arthur think their lives have changed for the better when the mysterious, secretive ARLINGTON STEWARD brings them a box with a magic button inside -- and a lot of invisible strings attached...
[WALTER LEWIS] CAUCASIAN - 9 years old, sharp and a little stand-offish, Walter is the beloved son of Norma and Arthur Lewis. He's at that awkward age when he balks at having his mommy kiss him in public, but still needs a babysitter. Proud of his father's scientific achievements and defensive of his mother's handicap, Walter becomes the pawn in a ruthless tug of war between his parents and the sinister Arlington Steward.
[DANA STEWARD] 16 years old, Dana is the babysitter for the Lewis family, and she regularly cares for Walter when his parents have an engagement. Dana has a big secret she keeps to herself: she is the daughter of Arlington Steward, and even though she doubts that there's anything left of her true father inside him any more, she does his bidding implicitly and assists him in gaining entry to the Lewis home.
