Saw this at a test screening a few months ago. It's just typical torture-porn crap dressed up to look like Oscar bait. Just sadism for the sake of sadism. Good performances but not much else in the way of redeeming qualities.
This movie isn't torture porn crap. One, this is exactly like the original which came out in 1997. The fact that it is being remade, for reasons other than money or property, says it has something to say about so called torture porn, if you're the kind of person that even uses such a term anyways. It has many redeeming values, just not in a conventional way. I also saw a test screening by the way
