While we have more than one review on the way, we've still got one final piece of hype for Halloween, which hits theaters everywhere tomorrow. This morning we've added our exclusive one-on-one video interview with writer-director Rob Zombie - if you head on over to BDTV you can check out all five rounds of interviews, which feature Tyler Mane and Daeg Faerch, Malcolm McDowell, Sheri Moon and Scout Taylor-Compton. Whether or not we like the film, don't forget to enter the Legion of Michael contest this weekend!
I used to love Bloody-Disgusting because it was a rather unbiased, honest, non-fanboyish source for horror news, but in the past 6-9 months, that's changed drastically. B-D seems intent on shilling for certain studios/directors and their shitty movies, including Rob Zombie's horrible Halloween remake. This shit is ridiculous. I don't trust B-D to be an unbiased source of horror info anymore.
I know what you mean ghostvirus, a few months ago I commented that I hope Mr.D gives us an honest review when the film (Halloween) comes out and apparently that pissed him off. no worries though, there are plenty of other horror sites out there..
I knew this movie was doomed the second I heard zombie's name was attatched. After seeing this piece of garbage, all I can say is: Never has it been so painful to be so right. Go see DEATH SENTENCE, BALLS OF FURY, or go see SUPERBAD again (or for the 1st time!). This film is a failure on so many levels...
ok so your telling me that you didnt like the second half because it was almost scene for scene.. i really dont get that, who cares? as long as its entertaining. apparently everyone has such a small mind to just compare and compare, its robs take on the original, it was what he wanted it to be because it was his style, just cause the feel was totally different doesnt mean it wasnt good.. im sorry but i saw this, not with the original in mind, and i thought it stood very well on its own. well done rob zombie.
I saw HALLOWEEN and last night and I thought what a better place to write a revew than at bloody. Well to start off you probably know that Michael is living a troubled life and takes his rage out on animals, a kid at school, and some of his family. After the murders he goes to smith's grove because of what he has done. I don't go into very great detail because I don't want to spoil the movie. Ok after Michael's escape he goes back to haddonfield to find his sister. Some of the kills such as Lynda and her boyfriend is the same as the original but it is not like scene for scene like the other reviewer said. Loomis in my opinion holds up to Donald's Loomis but it is not better and I wasn't expecting better because It acually is a whole different experince I thought. Anyway the finale to me was great not the same as the original. Rob Zombie always backed this movie up and I always kept hope and now I can say I am glad I didn't join the dark side. Overall Halloween 8 out of 10. SEE THIS MOVIE!
the thing is it's opinions. people are going to feel different. i dont understand why people feel the need to get really upset that someone doesnt feel the same way.
To those who have seen it, just out of curiosity, how did you see it? Cause supposedly the online cut is different then the actual theater cut. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
I didn't see it online I went to the one of the only in my state it took over an hour just to drive thier but it was all worth it. Just to tell you how they have a one and a half skull rating on bd. That is the stupidiest rating they gave House of 1,000 corpses 4 stars and it sucked. My advice go in and try not to compare it because it is different with a few of the same style shots. If you hated Devil's rejects then you will probably find this an improvement but if you liked it then you will just be pleased beyond your imagination. I think I know Halloween movies because I am the HALLOWEEN FAN!
Not blaming anyone but if you think I am out of it about how good I talk it up to be then go over to ain't it cool news and type in Halloween and click on the Spy reports from Halloween premire. That guy just said that this is the best Horror remake ever. So far I, Goliath Slasher and that guy that gave it a skull and a half are the ones that seen it so far on this site. So the score is 3-1 when it comes to theatrical versions.
its the same trashy, over the top, profanity-laced, type of movie he gave us with House 1K and Devil's Rejects. Only this time no Firefly clan, but the freaky Myers clan. Its boring most of the time, and there is virtually no suspense at all. rob dumbie still doesn't get what Hitchcock and Carpenter learned.
ghostvirus, maybe you should read our review again. we gave it 1.5 out 5 skulls... hardly a positive review. i don't see how that's biased or fan-boyish at all. obviously we're going to promote it and post news about it, a remake of one of the greatest horror movies of all time is a pretty big deal to most horror fans.
According to BD's interview, the film is basically a mess. Now I haven't seen it yet, however, Rob Zombie was interviewed a ton of times claiming that the characters were really developed in this film (which he was stating he was proud of). If this review was correct, there was NONE! Now, that would be enough to basically piss me off. I'm expecting the writing not to be great, but the shakey camera is going to bother me. One thing that may be surprising is that I'm actually looking forward to the "remaking" portion of the film. I was always under the impression that it would be a prequel/remake. It has always been kind of billed that way. I never bought that "revision" crap. You CAN'T revision a classic!
A horror with profanity....*gasp* another random "i wanna post negative sh*t b/c i'm witty and clever" post,i'll state again:ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN THE "SEQUELS" THEY'VE ALREADY SH*T OUT"
hey haddonfreak,
i saw it, PM for more info about that. the only positive about this? i would probably prefer to watch this film over resurrection in the future. again, his writing is very immature. character development? they never had the chance with zombie's writing ability.
Resurrection???? AAAAUUUGGGHHHH!!!! Go in with an open mind... Go in with an open mind... Go in with an open mind... Go in with an open mind... My fears about the writing are starting to take shape with all the reviews I've been reading and with JeffCon, etc. Go in with an open mind... Go in with an open mind... Go in with an open mind...
Variety magazine trashed it and a brand new review over at AICN really trashes it. In my book that makes it 3-3 with 2 of the reviews coming from blatantly biased Cummings devotees, based on past experience. All I can say is that I'm absolutely giddy that B-D was honest enough to slam it when it came down to the honest deadline....
i wish they could go back in time and add LOVE HURTS to the halloween resurection soundtrack
