UPDATE: BDTV now has the same clip along with some others.
Yahoo has posted a bizarrely re-edited clip from Rob Zombie's long awaited Halloween remake, along with some behind the scenes stuff. The clip shows Michael's escape from Smith's Grove, but like half of the scene is missing. I'm not sure why they would promote the film by providing a clip that looks like the result of an Avid virus, but hey, at least they didn't spoil the film's most shocking death like they did with the Comic Con clip. Rest assured this scene is much more coherent in the finished version. See for yourself on August 31st.
My work computer sucks. I watched it, but very chopped up. It was a very cool clip, but seemed to be a bit spoilerish. It showed more stuff than I expected to see and probably did not want to know. But what the heck.
Alot of the footage seems to be that single camera "choppy" stuff. I hope that is exaggerated by the clips being on the web. I did, however, see some sweeping, long camera work also but the majority of the movie with that choppy POV look may get a little old.
the whole thing is shot the way rob likes to film, a lot of close ups. but it may seem more choppy because they didnt have the whole scene, and they cut the kills of the security guards really short also.. they didnt want to show you the blood and shit.. but in the "behind the mask" featurette, the scene where michael confronts dee wallace (lauries mother) that scene looks fucking awesome.. it showed small amounts, but im sure it will be pretty darn good all put together.
I think I may not have stated it correctly. Not choppy in the sense of a scene, I mean the camera is very shakey. The POV is shakey. Kind of like "The Mummy Returns." That movie almost gave me a seizure in some of the parts. I think the difference is the Mummy's shakey POV was more digital looking. Zombie's is more realistic. I don't mind the close ups, but I like more smooth camera work. That is just me. I would think it would work if not over done. If it is over done, the movie would look like it was shot with a camcorder. The Featurette is pretty good. I like the look of the Dee Wallace scene.
"Reinventing a classic....." Malek Akkad appears to be doing his very best to hype this as a bold new direction in horror. I actually think that the escape scene is pretty complete. If you listen to the sound it is synched pretty well to the action, which would not be the case if the scene was chopped.
Well I am telling you it's missing several shots. I've seen the film twice, so I know for a fact that it's not that choppy and confusing in the real film.
It has to be edited down, and with that, it's not a big deal to edit the sound/dialogue as well. There's no way they can show everything in that scene, it's too violent. I've talked to a few people who have seen it, and like the commenter above, they also say it's been edited quite a bit.
oh but sauron.. its way too short, its obviously cut. the sound is mixed perfectly for what you see. he wanted to show everything and thats way too fast of an escape.. it will be longer in the actual film, even b-d says so.
H1-perfect mask.........H2-same one, only a fat headed dick wore it.......H4-something you buy for $1.99.........H5-something you buy for $3.99........H6-somewhat better than the previous 2, but cheap looking nonetheless......H20-Roger Ebert was spot on when he said it looked like the french mime "Marcel Marceau".......H8-Once in a while, I see a white monkey looking at this thing, really hard to explain, although it does look good at a far distance...very far. Zombie's version is second best IMO, damn fine mask.
Btw...Nothing,i repeat,NOTHING will ever scare the pi** outta me more than a certain Bill shatner mask w/ a spray paint job, ripped off sideburns, and bigger eye holes....Thank you Tommy Lee Wallace
In Halloween 7 they had some legal issues I think about the mask and the original was hated by Steve Miner. They had to make revisions all the time. I think there were 4 different and a very BAD digital mask. I like the one Mikey had on when his head went rolling through. I also liked Chris Durand as Mike.
I've decided to not view the clip. I have seen enough in the trailer. I can wait 10 more days to see it. I'm getting a little anxious. I would also agree that the mask in this film looks amazing, the best since the original. But as I've said many times before, I don't consider any of the sequels worthy to comment on, (except #2).
Carpenter has himself said how he dislikes H2....I'm sure its TOTALLY possible to shoot a persons eyes out w/ a .357 mag. WITHOUT blowing their brains through the back of the skull...Lol
Was the eye shooting Rosenthal's or Carpenter's idea? Carptenter wrote it, but afterwards he went for blood in H2 and took a lot of the freakiness out. I love Carpenter, but I honestly think he should've kept Rosenthal's work and not tinkered and added on. Rosenthal's version was freaky and he had a lot of ideas that sounded good that Carpenter vetoed. Carpenter had to go for blood because blood was selling with other movies of the same genre. There are all sorts of continuity errors in H2 as well as timeline errors, but I still think H2 was pretty good. It had the Carpenter/Cundy vibe to it. I think Rosenthal lost it between #2 and #8 because "Ressurection" didn't "cut it". But as I think about it, the directing in H8 was not terrible, but the script was. Spielberg would only be able do so much with that piece of crap.
that only applies to you if you were mocking my misspelling. if not sorry.
