Do we have any readers living in Japan? If so, listen up! News Broadcasting Japan has announced the launch of a premium horror and sci-fi channel, apparently the first genre specific channel in their history. As usual, this is great news for people who aren't on the Time Warner Cable system, who has yet to work out a deal for any of the 3 or 4 Horror stations currently in operation. But hey, we get TNT in HD! When you want to watch Stepmom, there's no better quality available. Take THAT, people who have Monsters HD, Chiller... sigh. Anyway, read on for more.
According to Variety, the new station, called Fox Movie -- SF & Horror, will start airing Oct. 1 on cable and satellite, replacing the Horror TV bouquet Fox is currently broadcasting on the Sky Perfectv! platform.
Contents will include pics, TV series and toons in the fantasy, sci-fi and horror genres, sourced from around the world. Among shows already skedded are the long-running Fox drama “The 4400” and the Stephen King miniseries “Kingdom Hospital” as well as the made-for-TV pic “It” and the classic horrors “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” and “Halloween.”
