Every 'X-Files' Episode In One Box, Plus The Movie!

FOX has announced The X-Files – The Ultimate Collection. This cumulative edition of the hit David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson series will contain all nine seasons as well as the Fight the Future theatrical movie and the four Threads of the Mythology releases. SRP is $329.98. Considering that the individual seasons are now usually found for 20 bucks each (for you mathmagicians, that's 180 bucks for the whole run) and the movie for $10-15, I'm not sure what exactly the other $120 or so gets you. The Threads of the Mythology DVDs were just collections of all the mythology episodes, so wouldn't they be in their respective season's DVD? And who the hell wants season 9 anyway?

Actually, seasons on DVD go for about 40 bucks nowadays, unless it was a short season, like Grey's Anatomy Season 1 was half a season, so it costs about 20 bucks. Full seasons cost 40. 40 times 9 equals 360, alone. It's actually cheaper than buying everything individually

Correction, they have them on sale in some places. So, indeed the complete seasons are $20 a piece

Yeah, except that you're comparing the SRP...the SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE...to what you're paying online. Yes, the SRP of the box set is $329, but if you add up the SRPs of the 9 seasons plus the movie is...$460.00 thus making it a very good deal. Look online, if you price hunt, and you won't pay even half the SRP, so you're likely going to be paying no more than $165 for the set. Also, TheDigitalBits is reporting that the set will also come with a comic book, art cards, a movie poster, and a bonus disc of extras. It won't contain the Mythology box sets, but the bonus disc WILL contain all the featurettes MADE for the sets. Yeah. Horrible deal, right? Let's complain a bit more.

Season 9 was a good season.. 8 and 9 were both good.

Just to expand on what Kabukiman said, the Threads of Mythology were a series of 4 episode length featurettes that cover the background and creative process of the mythology episodes, and were exclusive to the Mythology sets.

no way, 9 was terrible... that brady bunch episode, the finale... awful. Plus Annabeth Gish was never an interesting character. Doggett was good, but she sucked.
