Todd McFarlane Returns to Comics With 'Haunt'!

Growing up a huge (an understatement) fan of Todd McFarlane (Spider-Man, Spawn) it was extremely disheartening when he quit drawing and started pumping out toys for a living. Sure he got an adaptation of Spawn off the ground, and an amazing animated series on HBO, but I wanted him to continue to draw. To me it was just as bad as Michael Jordan quitting basketball and playing baseball - like a knife was stuck into my heart. Today some massive news hit the web, which was announced at the Chicago Wizard World this past weekend... Todd McFarlane is teaming up with Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead and Invincible) to bring us Haunt, a new comic that I'm sure will one day become a feature film. Read on for the announcement and watch for more details soon.

McFarlane Returns with HAUNT

One of the many shining moments of the convention weekend appeared in the form of Todd McFarlane announcing his newest comic project with Robert Kirkman, titled, Haunt.

In case you don't remember, at last year's Con, writer Kirkman (The Walking Dead and Invincible) publicly gave Todd a challenge - do more comics.

Todd took the challenge, provided that Kirkman would be involved. They've spent the last year collaborating, and announced the results during Todd's panel at this year's Con.

"Haunt is the product of an entire year of blood sweat and tears," says Kirkman. "After I confronted Todd in public, he put me to work, and I've never been pushed so hard by an artist/collaborator before. I'm very excited that the news is public, and I can't wait to share this new property with everyone. 2008 is going to be a year to remember for comic fans everywhere - the year Todd McFarlane returned to comics!"

Capping off the announcement, Todd and Robert sat down and signed free Haunt lithographs after the panel.

More information about this new project will post on SPAWN.com as it becomes available.

Look for Haunt to hit comic book shelves in early 2008.
