Bloody-Disgusting learned this weekend that Universal Pictures has officially begun casting for Jurassic Park IV, which will film in Kauai, Hawaii later this year! Laura Dern confirmed her return to the franchise as Dr. Ellie Sattler here as Sam Neill will NOT return. We're told that the film is about the government who has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes. Based on that I can now safely declare that this franchise has entered 'ridiculous sequel mode'. Watch for more news soon.
Holy crap! I had heard about this, but I thought it must be a joke. I so hope that this is a joke, because if it isn't then it is stupid! I will refuse to ever see this film if this is true!!!!!

From what I understand the script has undergone extreme changes since then. As for shooting this year, producer frank marshall originally stated that we'd see JP4 in '08 back in 2006. Then it was put on the backburners while Spielberg and co were working on Indy 4. No way we'll be seeing this start shooting until next year at the earliest and not in theatres until 2009.
I'm not going to pas judgment on this yet. But so far it sounds kinds dumb. And I'm not so sure I can see Dern's character being a strong enough lead to carry the movie.
ok ok, this is all wrong, the story is that the dinosaurs found their way into the city! this is all wrong about weapons being strapped to them...geesh! and its not going to be filmed in hawaii!
i heard that to apparently its based on the park on the mainland bein opened and the dinos breakin out into the city. spielbergfilms.com released a small news statement early 2007 stating one of the scenes would contain a pack of velociraptor chasing motorbikes down the street :)

Okay, I'm a HUGE fan of Jurassic Park--I always have been. But are you serious?! This is so dumb. If this is seriously the plot, I will NOT watch it. I'm a fan--dinosaurs have always been something I'm interested in. But dinosaurs carrying guns? No, thank you.
