Warner Independent Pictures announced today that they will release their remake of Funny Games on October 16 - the same day as Lionsgate unleashes Saw IV. The film was originally slated for release in January of '08, so maybe there's some confidence behind this move? In the film starring Naomi Watts, two psychotic young men take a mother, father, and son hostage in their vacation cabin and force them to play sadistic "games" with one another for their own amusement.
At this point they're trying anything to detract from SAW IV's gross. They're releasing both this and Strangers on the same day; unfortunately it won't work.
