If I learned one thing from playing Nintendo games in the '80s and early '90s is that the adventure is more fun than the end of the game. I'd play hours upon hours to win countless games that just end with a lousy 'congratulations'. Although things have gotten better technologically, things are pretty much the same as it's always been about the adventure of playing and not the finale. This past year a new step has been added to the process... it's called viral marketing. After the success of Nine Inch Nails' campaign for Year Zero, Paramount Pictures and JJ Abrams have stepped in with the same idea for their untiled horror film, which is going under various names "Cloverfield", "1-18-08" and now... "Slusho"? Read on for the next step in viral madness.
From UGO:
Alright, you know how Cloverfield/1-18-08 is going viral? Paramount releases the trailer attached to Transformers, there’s camcorder versions of it uploaded to video sharing sites, officially no one is talking about the project…
And then IGN reports that Cloverfield/1-18-08 may be using the alias of “Slusho” for the filming of a Paramount movie happening right now in L.A. The set calls for “200 extras. Military vehicles. Destruction aftermath. Weapons brandished. Emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Exterior dialogue on fire escape on 8th floor.”
And then J.J. Abrams chimes in to Ain’t It Cool News and drops this bomb: “For what it’s worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us.”
Then explain this J.J. ‘cuz it’s smoking gun proof that a weird beverage website marketing a drink called Slusho belongs to your new movie:
That’s a screengrab from the 1-18-08 trailer, right before the action moves to the rooftop. See that dude’s shirt? Slusho. And the logo looks exactly like the drink found on the Slusho website:

Holy crap!
It gets weirder: read the history page on the Slusho website. It talks about a woman named Noriko that wanted to discover a new beverage flavor. Noriko set out across the ocean and was never heard from again. Her son, Ganu, grew up and continued his mother’s research...exploring the ocean for possible flavors.
Did you get that? The ocean.
And then one day Ganu “discovered a deep sea ingredient unique to anything else.” He had a mysterious dream and realized that he had found the secret beverage flavor...and thus Slusho was born.
Slusho. From the bottom of the sea floor.
Hey, H.P. Lovecraft fans, what other thing did you read about that likes to dream and can be found at the bottom of the ocean floor?

Awwwww, seriously? It hasn't even begun! |
attempt to "play" what may not be an ARG {alternate reality game} so much as an "experience" is being done at unforums.com - one of the leading ARG communities. Come join us on IRC #slusho on irc.chat-solutions.org

I also heard the rumors from a friend of mine that it was Cthulhu. But your information said parasite which Cthulhu is anything but. Anyway, no one really knows right now. I have to say though, through all the marketing BS that it would be awesome to see death die on the big screen. ;) |
This is the same stuff they did with "Lost." There was the fake Oceanic website, plus all of those damn Sprite commercials that lead you to a website regarding Dharma. |
One can only pray that this is Cthulu... personally, I think it's Voltron. |
It looks like something the projectiles that come out of the explosion re-ignite or something... btw the Voltron thing was a joke; but I don't remember Cthulu firing missiles though either. |
Check out www.abz3293.com for more info, it's the plate number to the car in the trailer as the statue head is coming at them, I just watched the trailer for the first time today and decided to try that out and found that :P not the first but still first time i have tried any of the viral stuff. |
I'm praying for Voltron and hoping against Godzilla 2. Voltron would kick some ass |
well i think that JJ Abrams movie is
