B-D reader 'Nyrican0729' tipped us off that Alexa Vega (Spy Kids; pictured inside) has been cast as Shiloh in Darren Lynn Bousman's (Saw II, II, IV) horror rock opera Repo! The Genetic Opera. She will begin shooting her scenes on August 27. In addition to his news we caught up with Bousman the other night, who had just returned from shooting Saw IV for Lionsgate. Read on to see what you can expect from the film (more violent than SAW?), along with two exclusive images from the upcoming Graphic Novel being worked on! Watch for TONS more in the coming weeks.

Director Darren Lynn Bousman made his return to the States today to talk to us journalists about SAW IV, which wrapped last week in Toronto, Canada. While chatting about Jigsaw’s latest installment, Bousman also found sometime to plug his next feature film, REPO!, a horror rock opera/musical that a move in a new direction, “I don't know how different I can get than doing a rock opera – it’s like a side step out of the horror genre.”

He tells B-D that he likes his SAW crew and will continue to work with them as much as possible, “The same crew (as SAW III and Saw IV) doing REPO!... [at least] 95 percent the same crew.”

He also talks about what type of film REPO! Will be and how it will be more violent than SAW, “[The film is] a rock opera, a musical… it will be more violent than SAW in every aspect,” he explains, “It’s ROCK HORROR [PICTURE SHOW] on acid.”

What’s shocking is how many original songs will be written for the adaptation of the stage play, “There are 77 songs in REPO - RENT only had 19. [There will be] singing from beginning to end,” he explains, “One song might be 20 seconds, another 14 seconds and then one 5 minutes.” Think big, as he compares REPO! to JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and TOMMY – only will buckets of blood. Watch for the film in 2008.

The film is slated to begin filming at the end of August in Canada.
