At the press junket for Lionsgate's forthcoming PUNISHER: WAR ZONE, director Lexi Alexander revealed to Latino Review that she was recently sent this script to Jonah Hex, which recently was left without a director when Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor left the project last month citing creative differences. The article is clear that she is by no means the new director, but a potential option for Warner Bros., who is still looking to get the project off the ground with Josh Brolin. Hex, known for having the right side of his face disfigured and wearing a Confederate army uniform, was a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood. ...Read More
While the LA Times reported that this long-gestured project was D-E-A-D, a new report in Variety confirms that Dark Shadows is alive and well over at Warner Bros. Pictures (yay!). They write that Depp's company "Infinitum Nihil also is working with GK Films and WB on a film transfer of "Dark Shadows" that will have Depp playing Barnabas Collins." While it might not happen any time soon, it's still nice to know that something could happen eventually. Over 1,225 episodes, "Dark Shadows" was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies. The show has a continuing rabid fan base that populates Dark Shadows Festival conventions. ...Read More

Some very interesting developments come in this morning courtesy of Shock, who report that Rob Zombie has officially come on board to write and direct Halloween 2 for Dimension Films. They also write that filming is slated for March, which means Zombie will have to hit the gas on writing a script, unless he's secretly been developing it over the past few months. Sources close to us have told us that Zombie has been asked repeatedly to produce the remake, and Zombie even told us he wouldn't stick his name on something unless he was actually involved in the creative process. We've put out calls and e-mails to various sources attempting to get some sort of confirmation (and the silence makes me think something is definitely up), we'll get back to you with an update as soon as it comes in. If this is true, I guess we can scratch T-REX off the slate for awhile. Post your thoughts beyond the break! ...Read More
It appears that LAKE MUNGO has been impressing the masses. We learned this afternoon from a reliable source that writer-director Joel Anderson is in final talks (meaning he isn't signed on just yet) to pen the screenplay for Warner Bros. Pictures' newest Twilight Zone feature film. In the initial announcement it was revealed that they not seeking to remake an episodic movie, as the only big-screen version of the show did 25 years ago, but rather hope to build one continuing story line based on one or more episodes. Paramount Vantage announced they'll be remaking Anderson's MUNGO, which tells the story (in documentary style) of a teenager whose apparent death sets off a series of paranormal events.

As a kid one of the creepiest and coolest children's films I watched on a regular basis was The Witches, a big screen adaptation of Roald Dahl's book starring Anjelica Huston as the Grand High Witch.
